Cops Catch Bank Robber

  • Plainclothes officer Luis Novalez knew he had his man the minute he laid eyes on the guy trying hard to blend into a crowd getting on a CTA bus near Clark and Division streets.

There was red dye splattered all over his jeans -- dye apparently hidden in a pack of money from a bank robbed just an hour ago.

"At that point I knew this is the guy,” said Novalez, with the Near North police district. “There’s no way he’s getting away.”

And he didn't. Nice job guys.

Nice job. Too bad you posed for photos. Now the media has your picture and names they can use anytime they want. Doesn't that kind of screw up any undercover gig for you? I mean, there must be SOME reason when they show real undercover operations on TV, they cover up or blur the guys faces... I'm just saying.

OT:

As a det. moving to a new area, I was told to pack all of my stuff and keep it in my car or garage until I get to the new area.

Isn't this a violation of an order? To keep police files in your personal possession? What if my car gets stolen? I have evidence on cases that has not been inventoried yet, because I need to go through it.

Not to mention I have a bad back and had to schlep all of this stuff myself. If there is no room for detectives in the new area, where am I going to put all of this stuff?

I guarantee you I will not be working out of my car.

This clusterfuck is going to be the CF of all time.

Great job guys, but off topic -

So last night merit detective, merit sergeant, merit lieutenant Barbara West was promoted to Commander of 015.

Merit detective, merit sergeant, merit lieutenant Maria Pena was promoted to commander of 010.

There were numerous other changes, like there are now something like 5 or 6 Deputy Chiefs assigned to "International Relations" a very useful job I'm sure.

It actually hurts my heart to see what is happening to a job I once loved. I don't know one person of the rank of lieutenant or below that is even remotely confident in the politically chosen or happy in the job they are being tasked with doing.

It's so frustrating to see truly hard working, intelligent police officers unable to catch any type of promotion while the above named fools have been handed FOUR merit promotions...remember, Barb West has 2 honorable mentions on her complimentary history. 2.

Now go out there and bring in those numbers for these fine examples of what we should all strive to be.

Chicago Police Dept. Embraces Hamas Front | Islam in America Right Side News

After a meeting Tuesday, CAIR's Chicago chapter announced that Police Superintendent Garry McCarthy will speak Saturday night at CAIR-Chicago's annual fundraising banquet. In their meeting, McCarthy reportedly said surveillance by Chicago police would not be used in intelligence gathering as it was in New York.

I am looking at the multitude of changes on this job, bosses and facilities. Again, I scratch my head and say why?

Several weeks (I hope) before the G8 festivities begin, we rearrange the deck chairs on the Titanic. Are we saving money? Absolutely not. The cost of changing over the Areas alone will be in the Millions.

Are we making life better for the rank and file? Again a resounding NO! Changing these facilities mean they will be travelling further to get to work. They will be further from their stations when they are at work and they will spend more time trying to park a squad in a lot where there is inadequate parking. I won't get into the lack of lockers and work space for the Officers pushed to the new facilities.

All these things will be shouldered by the coppers with the usual griping, but we will get the job done. As for the taxpayer, well that job won't be done as well as it was, or could be. Your Mayor doesn't really care. He has round the clock protection and an agenda that doesn't really include making your life any better, just his.

My point was, one little nothing like this caused a big hoo-hah and caused a major disruption downtown.
When someone intentionally sprays something or commits an act of domestic terrorism during NatoG8, it's really going to be epic.

Konopka got exactly what he deserved, but it has nothing to do with my comment.

What is it with 911? I've had to call a few times about the homeless addicts living in a garage on Beat 814. Finally the scumbag bank resecured the property but the "zombies" broke back in presumably to recover their treasures.I waited awhile for a beat car. Finally I banged
on the garage door and yelled for anyone to come out. I then resecured the garage on my own. So far so good 4 days later. Great job officer w/ that POS bank robber. I just wish could get my calls for service answered instead of the dispatcher lying to me saying "we'll send the police.
