Money Again

  • Mayor Rahm Emanuel is hoping $25,000 signing bonuses will lure new top-shelf principals to Chicago to run as many as 50 low-scoring schools.

During an education forum in Washington, D.C., Emanuel revealed Friday that next year Chicago needs 50 “high quality’’ principals, and he’s been “playing with’’ what to do about it.

[...] The effort, which could total $1.25 million in signing bonuses alone, will be privately funded, the news release added.

Maybe we need a privately funded police department? We've heard of this company, OCP, they're supposed to be the next big thing in police work.

Oh it's privately funded. That must mean the money is coming from fining the kids in those other schools for things like having their shoe laces untied and stuff.

Headed right down the path of corporate fascism. Let's just kick out the corporate controlled political puppets and stop the farce of freedoms and democracy.

Can Rahm find any of these private donors to help restore our pension? Or even help pay everyday expenses for the department? Because the city doesn't pay it's bills our lockup wasn't able to order bread for a few weeks and we're forever running short on xerox paper. WTF?

Just what quality are these folks serving as principals now? All are making at least $100,000 a year each. Just how much money are we going to throw at these "leaders" of our kids education? The Racoon is spending OUR money so why would he care where it goes or how much. He is just grandstanding for the media to make it look like he cares about education. And there is no such thing as "private money" paying for these raises. Any company giving money to the city is getting something back. CONTRACTS. Thank you. And just how are these little Einstein's going to get to school without getting raped, mugged, or shot to death? He has gutted his police dept. and the Gangsters and perverts are free to roam our streets and do as they wish. Good education starts with a secure environment so kids can get to school and feel safe in the school building. Fear trumps everything. Of course the Racoon's kids go to a private school at the U of Chicago. Armed body guards take them to school and back home. These little folks are guarded 24/7.

OT but speaking of schools.

Has anyone noticed how many speed limit signs there are near schools? Nearly all of them say, "school speed limit on school days when children are present". Will all of these signs have to be replaced to acurately reflect the times of the speed limits and the cameras involved?

Is this just another part of the scam, giving contracts to replace all of these signs at a cost of how much?

Speaking of money, did anybody else notice how the fines went up on the new parking ticket books?? It's now a $500 fine for not having a city sticker!!! Does the public realize that the city is trying to chip away at their bank accounts??

There is no reason police officers really have to be direct employees of a government entity anymore than fireman or garbage collectors do. It is just the way it is usually done.

Just like a fair number of cities have merged at least some of the duties of police officers, fire fighters, and EMS personnel into a single public safety department.

Just because something has been done one way does not mean there is not another way that would work better and cost less.

I don't see any big city police departments being privatized, but I suspect you could see a fair number of city functions privatized and get better service at lower cost to the taxpayer.

For instance, in many localities at least some building inspections are handled by private inspectors.

Many places garbage is collected by private contractors. In fact, some places there is no government involved at all in the garbage collection process. people just figure it out on their own. And by some miracle, the garbage gets collected.

Many smaller and even some medium sized municipalities do not have their own snow removal crews or equipment or road repair crews.

A lot of places water is provided or managed by private companies. Often this happens when the city has allowed a water system to be poorly maintained for many years and the cost of fixing it starts to become a serious problem, so they lay it off on a private company in an attempt to try and shuffle the blame in another direction.

These privatization efforts have had a spotty record. Some are wildly successful, others not that successful. In a very few cases, the governmental entity has gone back to running the service itself, but that is quite rare.

Raccoon says 25% of CPD kids won't amount to shit so he's refusing to throw more resources at them.

But he wants to throw %100k a head at scab principals imported from everywhere else when there are no doubt highly qualified and COMPETENT people here?

It makes no sense other than being part of his ongoing war against the teachers.

Here comes the Emanuel/Clinton/undoubtedly Daley/Vanecko "Chicago Infrastructure Trust" -- another piggy bank to loot!

Chicago launches infrastructure bank

By Arleen Jacobius

Published: March 1, 2012

"The city of Chicago has created an infrastructure bank — the Chicago Infrastructure Trust — that will be funded with up to $1 billion from five institutional investors.

"The five are Citibank, Citi Infrastructure Investors, Macquarie Infrastructure and Real Assets, J.P. Morgan Asset Management’s infrastructure investment group and Ullico. Each firm has agreed to consider the projects that the trust is undertaking and evaluate them for investment, according to a news release from the office of Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel.

"Citi Infrastructure Investors is committing investment capacity of up to $200 million and Citi Community Capital, a division of Citigroup’s municipal finance business is committing $200 million..."

"In addition to private investment provided by the five institutional investors, the trust will be funded by the city, bonds and grants..."

They smell that pension money...

Let's put William "I Din' Steal No Money" Beavers and John "Dollar A Day Ditch Digger" Daley on the board here as well...

Prívate funding.....not so much. This POS mayor is going to take that money from the police and fire pensions. They are going to follow the lead, like municipalities of new york. He is going to borrow money from our pensions to pay our pensions. The pension board, with assholes like lazaro, will once again allow for pension managing investment companies, like the thieving vanecko, allison davis cabal to invest our hard earned pension money to "privately" fund this putrid mayor's fucked up ideas. Our pension money was used to fund the former troll mayor's olympic dreams, on the south side and now our pensions will be misused and drained again. FOP, please keep your eye on our money. Mike Shields, we believed your daddy, when he came to our rollcalls, begging for our votes, for you. We understand you have aspirations for other higher offices, but you were elected to look out for us, the livelihood of the chicago police officer. Please dont make us regret casting that vote for you, because your turning out to be the very hack, your daddy said, you were trying to replace.

This is a great idea . It didn't work in 2006 and was a failure , so now the idea is any better
What does this tell you about the caliber of the administration and teachers of the CPS if they cannot find principals in their own school system
They sure have enough to choose from

Why do we need top shelve principles for? To train the next generation of welders that corporations say they can't find?

I mean really...there are no living wage opportunities here in the sanctuary city no matter how much in debt you go to get a better education.

Welding jobs..the mayor preaching welding jobs and then wants to continue this Illusion that a higher math and science score is going to get you somewhere.

I'll tell you what. Show us the math and science scores of all these clouted clowns down at the Fortress of Bullshit..

There's a better chance of making a better life for yourself in one of the city gangs dealing dope than there is in this corrupt system we have today.

Privatize all the schools so the corporations can instill disciple in the next generation or robotic trolls. Sit down and shut up and do what we tell you to do.

Sign this tuition paper so that we can hold you in indentured servitude for the next 45 years of your career working at the local WalMart.

It's all lies!

Justice? No lies. What has the DOJ done for us lately?

The God-damned Pritzkers got the money, to build another Hyatt Hotel there -- like they couldn't swing it on their own.

There is another stink just now regarding them -- they keep filing complaints that their luxury homes are assessed too high, and they get their property taxes knocked down.

If they had their way the police department would have 3000 cops, 300 sgts, 30 lieuts, and 600 exempts. The money the save they would spend on flower pots, more street lights, and buying off these fuckers that keep voting for these assholes.

Is it really privately funded when the money his cronies are giving came from the taxpayers in bullshit, no-bid rigged city contracts and obscene cost overruns in the first place???

I tell you what, let my "minority, female" owned business get 15 or 20 million in contracts for work I don't actually have to do and I kick 50 or 100K towards Rahm's union busting schemes. I'll even cater a little party for the other robber barons and we can all throw 25 or 30k towards our Kenyan born president's re-election campaign. I'll even get my business insurance from Johnny "Jobs" Daley and hire Axelrod to market my company. If I start to lose track of who exactly I have to kick back to I'll hire Bill Banks or Johnny Quaters as a "consultant". My retained legal firm will of course be Ed Burke and his "Associates". Pretty soon I'll be High Rolling Baby!

make cps look good
no cameras to save the children from bullets and stab wounds
only from speeding cars going 6 mph over the limit

WHAT stations that were closed? Old 019 still in use by detectives who were uprooted from a/3.

011 still occupies Harrison/Kedzie.

021 building not officially mothballed.

What money? What savings? Nothing to sell.
