Officer Shot, Far South Side
A Chicago police officer was shot late this afternoon on the city's Far South Side, police said.
The shooting happened at 4:50 p.m. near West 102nd and South Morgan Streets. No condition report was immediately available.
We'll keep an ear out.
UPDATE: WBBM saying "not life threatening, but more serious than a graze wound."

I hope all involved make a full recovery. I now have 15 years on and in the last two years there have been more shots fired at police and more police involved shooting, than the rest of the 13 years. It is so sad :( to see everyone hate the police.

Hope the officer had a new vest! just bought a new vest for $599 level 3a with embroidered star and outside cover even came with a cool 40.00 ankle holster! Its a full wrap, heavy duty armor. I feel safe with it. none of this light weight crap really has me convinced. It was all too real to see them try to fuck McHale's men and then realize what we got here in Chicago . Very informative.......
We all face these threats on a daily basis...we are our own brothers (and sister's) keepers. This is my district. I am scared of lawsuits but more afraid of losing friends. The G8 will be a shitstorm. The press will report "no weapon" or that it was an "honor-roll student" or some ether bs. Truth is one cop shot in 005, one fired shots in 006 - we know in both situations people felt they could get away with it.
How do we fix this? People need to start supporting us. I'm going to start applying the law in all cases (no license/insurance = go to jail, suspended license/ no jail go to jail). We usually give breaks on south side b/c we think well get guns/drugs on next t-stop or street stop. No more. Take all to jail when called for. You don't raise a f-cking hand at the police or you pay!!!
I had to work down there in 005 all week for a detail. I've worked the west side and englewood and know what to expect there, I had no idea 005, particularly Corliss/ Pullman area was as crazy as it was. These young banger thugs are defiant of Police and bold. They need help down there. Tell Anita Alvarez to ease up on the lawsuits and lets have some fun being the police. By the way, good work Coop. A Chicago Police officer who was shot on the Far South Side Friday afternoon was apparently saved by his bulletproof vest, authorities said.
The officer was hospitalized after being shot at 4:35 p.m. Friday in the 100 block of West 103th Place in Roseland.
Two officers had responded to that location, where shots were reported earlier. When they arrived and went to the back of a home, shots were fired at them, striking one officer in the “vest and arm,” police said in a statement. He returned fire.
The 41-year-old officer, a 7-year veteran assigned to the Calumet District, was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn with non-life threatening injuries.

It's from a Bible...fight the good fight of faith. The comment was about their faith continuing on following a LOD not about a literal fight with the offender.
