This is such a mess it's hilarious. Everyone is laughing cause 019 really isn't closing. They will still have a full desk crew there working all shifts along with the male and female lock-up. How stupid. 023 has a big new lock-up that's collecting spider webs. No one knows yet what beats the tact teams will be or what the DOG's will be. They still plan on hiding the house mice and the now (3)tact secretaries. Yes, that's right 019 was hiding 2 tact sec's and 023 has one even though they were supposedly eliminated by 35th street and told to work the street. HAHHAHAHAH we all know how that goes. Smoke and mirrors on paper. So the closing of 019 doesn't even put any inside people back on the street. No one knows a damm thing and the change happens Sat nite.

Everything is so unorganized I'm getting dumped from area 5 to Area 2 no biggie I got a great job. But area 5 has no clue on when we are leaving. I called area 2 they knows even less all they have are the people who are supposed to come there. I asked about parking, lockers, watches and was told we don't know yet. Aren't we supposed to start 4 mar heck it's 2 days away does anyone know anything the union was no help they told me to wait for quarterly bids for watches. Detectives d.ont have that only once a year. O well be safe all

Although I was working in a nearby district, I missed the photo and deeply regret it....would have been nice to see fellow 019th district family at the end of 019 as we know it......

019 and 023 Front office people (allegedly including the DCs and XOs) STILL do not know who will be in charge of the newly merged 019th District, or what THEY will be assigned to do when it becomes operational Saturday night at midnight!

Is THIS any way to run a police department?

Can we expect anything better than this come May for G8/NATO?

At this point, unfortunately, it is a NO!

Any truth to the rumor that a small number of detectives will now be working out of district CAPS offices?

Yet we have the same amount of bosses, making the same amount of pay. Seems the only thing shrinking is the number of officers being hired.
Yeah real original ideas from 35th st. Dump the units and pile all the 100s of officers on area teams. Good one! Now there's an idea . Keep shuffling the deck, and fool them all.

None of 019 supervisors over rank of Sgt are going, all launched. Bid Lt's all bought off. Sold their contract again.

Nitwit Mike Ryan might be XO of a desk crew and a lockup. Many hope he doesn't make the move. PO's were told to come in a few minutes early to get locker assignments and key cards for new building and to sign the roster.

Goof Ryan goes ballistic, demands 1920 call him IMMEDIATELY and wants to know how come the 2nd watch was in early. What a moron, his whole life is hanging around police stations. Pathetic.

Does that mean that the old 023 is now being referred to as the new 019? What about the old 013? Old 025 is supposed to be the new 013. And, isn't the old 024 supposed to be the new 021? How are we to refer to the new detective units? Where do we send our reports? What numeric unit numbers will they be? Are the computers set to verify the new beat and district boundaries? What about when citizens call from landline phones? Will they get the correct zone?
Here we thought G8/Nato was going to be bad.... yup, let's pile on this mess to make it worse. It will literally take weeks or perhaps months to get it together since there is no information forthcoming.

I'm assuming that the 900 block of wood street will be shut down for the photo when the 013th dist closes( the D.C. ) told us they're projecting mid June... so, lets start organizing people we want this to go smoothly and want the transition to go even smoother.... Yes, there will be detectives working out of the CAPS offices...now where do you put the CAPS people and the civilians that were sent to the district to replace the people from the great CAPS dump? And what are they doing for cars and radios? And if they are bringing their own, who is responsible for them? Equipment being stored in my district??? Why isn't it on my inventory log??? What if it gets lost? Who answers for it. I know this is a little thing in the grand scheme of it all but this is a simple thing that hasn't been addressed and should have been done in the first steps of the consolidation moves. This clusterfuck that Garry has put together is just that-one gigantic clusterfuck. This plan of his that he keeps to himself was never thought through. He has no idea what the next step is. Now that the areas and districts are closing, have the computers (ICLEAR, PCAD, etc) been updated to go along with the changes? I am talking about the historical data. Lots of arrests say on 1313's beat no longer occurred on 1313's beat...does anyone understand that the benefit of the computer being able to search for offenders/victims/arrestees/suspects have now been comprimised greatly? Been told it may take years to address this problem if it is possible to change the programs at all. Change was needed on this department but as we all have seen so far, the changes being made are sending the department in the wrong direction. If I had the time, I would retire today. This ship is sunk, Rome will burn, and if they call in the National Guard or military to be security for G8/NATO, you had all be best prepared to revolt against your government.

The brilliant minds of 35th can't even figure this one out and the change is a day away. They close 019 but keep the lock-up open so now they need the house mice to stay. Now the down time for processing and waiting for transports back to the old 019 will be double. More people will be hidden inside and now they will need a boss to stay in 019 also just to sup. the house mice. So much for saving money and manpower. We also know there will be double the house mice in the old 023 now and it will be business as usual. Nice work 35th!

April of 1976 our class started on O'Brien St. A class also started in March. I believe we were the last to train through O'Brien St. Also we were among the 1st classes to have women training with the men. It would be nice to get photos of these groups. Personally, I was among the 1st group of females to be assigned to 020 that year. The public did double takes when they realized it was a woman in that squad car.

Areas 1 and 3 remodeled but still not enough room to handle the new detectives. Rumor says RBT Det's will be put in districts, when the 1st Dist Commander was asked by incoming Det. Sgt., he had no idea what he was talking about and said I don't have room for you, you'll have to work out of your cars. The move is in two days and no one knows anything

OT

Anyone under code 9161 who does not have a "stat" (ie. Contact card, arrest, or ANOV) between 01 Jan 12 and 01 Mar 12 will receive a SPAR and will have to write To From Report to their District Commander.

The superintendent wants a list of all officers with "no performance" in 2012. He doesn't seem to be interested in suspending the officer as much as he wants to berate Commanders who have the largest percentage of non-performers.

The focus of the next CompStat will be evaluating the Commanders on how they deal with these officers. Just a note to the next Area that is called (most likely North), do not get up there and complain about the Patrol Contract. That answer will be unacceptable.

2:41 You are absolutely right. The handling of this bespeaks of non-leadership by the troika. It's as if the functioning of the department is an afterthought or distraction to the daily 'clout' polishing at 35th street. So who will emerge as the leader for G8? All we can do is pray for a 'police mesiah' to come forth. Sad really...

Captain Mike Ryan, the XO of old 019. That is not the official final picture, the real photographer was on top of a squadron in back of whoever took this picture.

The guy in the wool topcoat front/towards the left, isn't even the police. He is a doctor who likes to hang around police, a police groupie.

I called A/3 to find out what time to report and nobody knew a thing. I asked if there would be room for us, was told 'no'. I have a car full of files. My boss told me to take them with me. I thought it was against some general order to remove files from a police facility.

I have many cases that are ongoing. All of them are in cardboard boxes. I have meetings and interviews to go to, and some of my cases are time-sensitive--am I even going to have a car to get to 26/Cal?

I encourage everyone, whether patrol or det's, to document every move you make. If there are no computers, cars, radios, etc. available, document it.

We are in for one hell of a bumpy ride. Let's all stick together.

I know there is a lot of whining from det's who have been reassigned--I'm no cheerleader, but whining gets you nowhere. Let's try to hold each other up and not focus on our personal situations--I'm as upset as anyone, but I'm trying to remain positive. That might not last one shift, but I'm going to give it some effort.

Assess your new situations and determine how to make it work for you.

Good luck to all and everyone stay safe.
