I agree with a previous post, FOP should stage a NO CONFIDENCE MARCH AGAINST THE MAYOR and SUPERINTENDENT at City Hall before the G8 in May. No training, no riot gear, and no outside help. These two idiots are marching us right off a cliff in May and the FOP is not fighting for its members!

Seriously!! That is so true. I can't get any answer from our beloved FOP as to what they plan on doing. Our contract says that a city planned event (G8)has to be manned by volunteers and then reverse seniority! When asked I keep getting BS about election day. REALLY! We didn't want this. So to all you 3rd Watch people that have done your time with other Chicago BS, your FOP doesn't care that people with 3 years on the job get to work the districts while we go down there AGAIN! Just saying, time to follow Cook County's lead and overthrow.

Can't blame the department on this one. Let's be honest, the department has never said what watch is going. It's only been rumors about this watch, and that watch. Not a "department man" exactly, but the truth is they have not flip flopped on this once.

This just in! K9 and the mounted units will be combined. The dogs are currently at the academy being trained on how to ride the horses. The officers will be reassigned to the districts because the city claims they have no money. The marine unit is being cut back to an inflatable inner tube and a canoe! Tiny dancer says his staff will only get a 11% raise if we dont all do our part in these hard times! haha

All these smarter than everybody else assholes from everywhere else but Chicago are determined to use NATO/G8 to turn Chicago into the scene of possibly the most titanically tragic and avoidable mega shit-show ever witnessed in the nearly four million years of human existence.

Hey, Flaming Tutu & McEgo... Do we get to say fuck you two clowns before we end up headed back to the trees on your accounts?

Save the children Rahm...

Oh wait..9:15 PM? The Revenue-Oh-Rahma generating speed trap cameras are not going to be set to run that late right? I remember one alderman calling for them to be turned off after 5 pm.

What Chicago needs to do is fine these kids that are getting run down like the schools are doing for untied shoe laces and so forth right Mayor? Fine them even if it cost the parents their kids lunch money for a week. They all need to by disciplined not to question authority. Just pay their taxes, fines and fees so the corporations can have more tax breaks and the banks can buy the nations justice
system.

Yeah. political propaganda. Do we know if the driver was even speeding?

====================

Police are searching for the driver of a van that struck and killed a 15-year-old girl as she crossed a busy intersection in the Gresham neighborhood on the South Side, officials said.

The accident happened around 9:15 p.m. Tuesday at the intersection of 80th Street and Ashland Avenue, according to Gresham District Police Capt. Juan Morado.

heh...from the Springfield Tower of Babble.. The Governor is in La-la land.

-------------

"Quinn says sales tax windfall could pay for schools"

"Asked about the situation Tuesday, Quinn said he believed the money could be found within the already strapped budget because sales tax revenues are up. From July through December, Illinois brought in $4.312 billion in sales tax revenue — $239.1 million more than the same period the year before and $139.8 million more than initially projected, according to the Department of Revenue'

(via Chicago Tribune)

--------------------------

Yeah..pay no attention to those January 2012 sales tax numbers though.

Here's the problem and what the Chicago Tribune and other corporate run media outlets are telling you or not telling you.

Durable good orders fell 4% in January and that just about wipes out the up-trend Quinn is referencing.

That January fall in the durables goods order numbers is a consequence of people pulling forward demand through the entirety of 2011 as the Federal Government permitted 100% expensing last year for capital goods.

Notice how the governor carefully chooses the last six months of last year as emphasis -- a time where if a business wanted to buy equipment you do it now to get the tax break.

So with the tax incentive gone this year and with Chicago area gasoline prices hitting the $4.05/gallon mark today, they want the public to believe that there is going to be a tax windfall! Where's the money going to come from?

Yeah right.. I'm not buying it.

If you buy that "look over here and don't look over there" statistical bull I have some CompStat crime stats to sell you showing crime is down.

After the riots in the early 70's the department purchased the long riot batons. In Task Force we were trained with them at the armory. The city even purchased 3 special trailers to deliver them to the scenes. Now 41 years later and retired, I have never saw the the batons again. If ever they should be utilized its now, you need them. Be careful officers, somethings just aren't worth it.

For those who don't know, masks ARE in. You just have to not be lazy and go and pick it up after filling out the medical form. Same with replacement filters.

They did just change the form to some eight page BS. I filled it out, got cleared and picked up mask. They have the replacement filters there too for those who have expired stuff.

Don't wait for FOP or someone to do this for you. Go and get it done yourself. You might need it in a couple of months. You'll get sent out there with or without a mask.

I am tired of the cry baby coppers on this blog crying about the upcoming "events". This will pass like everything else. You going to hide from this just like every other thing on this job? The world will not end.

Nothing we do is according to plan. The job is always changing. Even if they give us training, it will be from inexperienced trainers (usually District do-nothings). All we do is show up, respond to the issue and ALWAYS come out on top.

Make all the comments you want. The 20%'ers will continue to do the job, while the 80%'ers do nothing. Im not a "company man". Just a guy who took this job, knew the risks, and I accept them.

The Mayor is 100% wrong and using this "opportunity" in the hopes to advance himself. He doesn't care about the City of Chicago. He definitely doesn't care about the taxpaying citizens, business owners, CPD or CFD.

I just hope the blind voters remember this next election. I hope his political career is over after the upcoming damage is done. But, everyone knows that every election is fixed. Im on a roll voting for the losers. Maybe I'll try voting for the ones I dont want to see elected next time...

Lori Healy looks a bit frazzled on tv lately. Lady, you don't even know what you stepped into. I know details of security can't be revealed too soon. But can't some type of gear be issued, besides gas masks, so we can adjust things if needed?
I already know this will be a "let's just see how things are and go from there" event.
We already know there will be injuries. In my opinion, that's a failed mission.
I will be there to protect my fellow officers. I just wish I was told more, so I can be, a little bit, better prepared.
