Need a Wheelchair? Walker?

An offer from an acquaintance of ours:
  • Hey SCC,
Six months ago I had a motorcycle accident and couldn't walk for a while. I'm walking well enough now that I no longer need the wheelchair and walker I was using. Since the insurance company paid for it, I feel like it would be bad mojo to take money for them. Before I list it for free on craigslist, I'd like to find out if a policeman or policeman's family member needs one. if you could pass the word that if anyone can use a wheelchair or a walker in new condition, send me an email at djhaynes@gmail.com. Thanks.

Thanks anyway Pal, not this time.

There was a woman cop I worked with in 017 years ago; her son was involved in a bad accident and needed years to recover.

Over that time she collected a garage full of all kinds of stuff and loaned it out to cops. When my wife was seriously injured I borrowed a few things. I wanted to keep one of the items but she wouldn't take money. So I gave her a couple of things, one of them was a Gerber Multi-tool, something she could use to help other people.

My aging memory can still see her face, can't remember her name but still grateful after all these years.

So good of Dave to ask.

This sort of medical equipment costs an arm and a leg -- no pun intended -- when you absolutely have to have it, and if you don't pass it on to others, it's instantly snatched up for junk by illegal-alien metal collectors and will never see its intended use again.

Such a wonderful and kind offer. If it is not needed by another Officer or Police Family try your Senior Citizen Officer maybe he or she knows of a senior in need. I don't know you Dave, but am glad that you are doing so much better.

This is that Police Family type stuff the idiots at 111 N., 3510 S. and the media can't seem to wrap their pointy heads around...

They got us surrounded (yet again :^) and we're all we got.

Remember that... We have a mayor, a stupidintendent, a municipal government and assorted rev'runs, activists, catered to constituents and media apparatus actively cheering and aiding/abetting the destruction of this Department so they can be free and clear to pillage this city with impunity without being worried about looking over their shoulder.

Hey Dan K from 017, tell your sister-in-law to research the benefits of vitamin D (particularly D-3) for MS. Many studies show it to be very, very helpful.

Ah-Ha.. Boing!

I remember the name now...

it was Dortohy L., probably retired now. Good Luck to you and yours wherever you are and may your kindness come back to you a hundred fold.

Don't know you Dave but very glad you are doing better.

Yes, but it's a lot more helpful in PREVENTING MS than treating it.

Guys, if you're on mids and/or getting little to no sun, load up on Vitamin D, which will help keep MS from penetrating your blood/brain barrier.

Vitamin D deficiency CLEARLY relates to a higher incidence of MS.

And, make sure it's Vitamin D3.

If you do not find takers for whatever you have left, you can post it at Freecycle.com. Everything is given to other members free of charge. The goal is to keep perfectly good items out of landfills and "gifting" items you no lonr want or need.
