Hey, next year post that info on the convention a little earlier. Now that I'm retired, I would like to attend events like that too.
NYPD here. Keep up the Bloomburg bashing out there. Love it

One of the most disappointing events I have ever been to. I could not attend the leadership experience because I was armed. When I asked if there were lock boxes for such instances, I was told no. A retired CPD member told me later that what I was looking for was by the media area. Is it me, or is it odd that an organization that supports gun ownership and conceal carry, doesnt allow guns at their event? And dont give me that crap that it is the venue that has that rule. Why would they have an NRA convention in a place that doesnt allow guns!! Oh, and if you want to buy anything othet than a t shirt, forget it. Non of the hardware is for sale!

Join the NRA and they will assault you with countless emails about upcoming events if you opt-in to them. You have to be a member anyway to attend (admission is free).
I walked the show all day yesterday and one thing is consistent: people see my badge and where I'm from and start asking questions like, "Why do you live there?" "Is it as bad as we hear about in Georgia, or is it worse?" "You didn't vote for Barry, did you?" "Wait until NATO," "Are you going to move soon?"
These are total strangers I've never met in my whole life and this is what they think, and that's despite the media blanket that we all know exists about the real goings-on in Chicago.
Still, the camaraderie is strong, everyone here is nice and friendly, and I can carry concealed with my PA non-resident license. It's a fantastic place to be an American.

PS: MO has a vehicle exemption. No permit required to carry a loaded firearm in a vehicle so long as you aren't a felon, mental-defective, under the influence, and you notify law enforcement of that firearm if you get pulled over. Great concept. Wish I had that when I have to travel to the shittier parts of Chicago on business.
Don't mean to ruin anybody's day but I think this is some crazy shit!
Uptown Update is a blog that basically posts items of interest to the north side's Uptown neighbor hood. It is an area FULL of lakefront liberals.
Yesterday they posted a photo showing that a closed laundromat is apparently going to become a new KFC at Sheridan and Lawrence in a mall. This touched off an incredible debate on everything from the socio-economic impact it would have on the community, to the evils of corporate America franchising childhood obesity to our youth, to the care and treatment of chickens, complete with links to YouTube videos and more. Some of their comments were long enough to qualify as term papers or Doctoral theses from the local universities where our exempts get their degrees from!
I wonder if they realize how funny they are to the people who live life in reality and not by book theory like they do. They are so quick to criticize everything around them when they actually have very little clue how the REAL world functions. But these are the ones who think Obama turning America into a Socialist/Communist nation is a good thing!
We are sooo screwed!

It's clear that you have a computer. Go to the website and sign up for updates. Then you won't have to rely on anybody telling you when the events are.
Gee I wonder why the NRA never has their convention in Chicago?

Is it true that some coppers were held for personal damages from that michigan truck driver that crashed in chinatown, killing two people and then died himself?

It is funny that you ask that question. At the show there was a attendee survey and one of the questions on where you would like see future conventions. Chicago was not one of the cities in the survey.

It's a fraternal convention, not a gun show.
Given the laws surrounding firearm transfers, 'sales' at such an event would only be useful to FFL dealers anyway... and I'm sure that whatever you see there can be ordered once you get home.
So what do you guys think of the new 9mm/.40S&W Smith & Wesson MP Shield for deep cover/off-duty concealability?
I favor my "baby" GLOCK 27 .40 caliber with an aftermarket "SIDERLOCK" trigger safety. Any pluses for the MP Shield over the "baby" Glock aside from the fact that the Shield is made in the USA?
Best laser aimers: Crimson Trace (red laser) and Viridian (green laser). I have both on my .45 Glock 21. The green (w/flashlamp) is mounted on the pitcanny rail and is zeroed in at 7 yards while the grip-mounted red is set on 100 feet to infinity.

These are the manufacturers, not retailers. This show is to see what's new so you can go to a retailer and buy it there. It's not the DuPage gun show, it's the NRA Shot Show.
