We Have Chainsaws?

  • About two dozen people barricaded themselves inside a South Side mental health clinic Thursday, protesting Mayor Rahm Emanuel’s plans to consolidate 12 city clinics into six.

The demonstrators, including about 50 people outside the clinic at 63rd Street and South Woodlawn Avenue, said they planned to stay on site until Emanuel agrees to keep all of the public clinics open.

One of the protest organizers, Matt Ginsburg, said he and about 20 others had been arrested for trespassing about 1 a.m. Friday.

He said the protesters put up barricades in front of the doors made of steel gates, piping and quick-dry cement, but that police used chainsaws to cut through them early Friday, arresting those inside.

No one lost any limbs, so that's good. But wouldn't it be better to have sawz-alls and some of those all-purpose circular saws like the CFD guys have for cutting open roofs?

We have cut teams that were trained for G8/Nato. I'm guessing they weren't using chainsaws but since these protesters have never done manual labor in their lifetime any motorized saw is a chainsaw.

Even better - some of these assholes are already insane - this is just great! They were already on the edge and now a chainsaw came through an impenetrable door toward their face! YES! YES! YES! I LOVE THIS!

Closing down mental health clinics? We should be opening more. There is a great need for these clinics. The Racoon could give a fuck less folks. The Racoon and his family get the very best of health care so fuck you and yours. This city is facing a crisis on all levels. And what is the mayor doing? Finger pointing, fairy tale audits, and bullshit excuses and promises. Fact is the little bastard doesn't know what he is doing. This little rat asshole is in way over his head. He thinks he is some kind of Arabian Sultan who just snaps his fingers (that's funny) and everyone will jump and do his bidding. Pretty fucking sad when people have to barricade themselves inside a clinic and be extracted with chain saws and arrested. What the hell have we become. Jesus!

The mayor will appoint a 5 member "panel" who will control and spend this money. Aldersuckholes made some noise so the Racoon will get to place one of his whore Aldercreatures on the panel to keep an eye on them. Do I hear laughing out there? Don't worry about all of the dead kids and other bodies littering the streets near all those speed bumps the Racoon wants to build lots of worthless over priced projects to make himself look good. Wouldn't it make more sense to have CFD do it? They have people trained and experienced in doing that stuff routinely. For the number of times this sort of thing will be used, just get on scene training from CFD if they won't do it. It's not rocket science, HBT "should have" breacher training and equipment, where were they?

If the equipment is going to be owned by CPD, how long do you think before it all disappears and/or is broken? Or you've got Burke's, Daley's and Rahm's details doing yardwork?

I'm sure by now somebody has noticed how fucked up it is when you run an offender on I-Clear. Every arrestee's entire gang affiliation from his entire life is lumped together. mistakes in the past, officers guess work, the offenders admissions, the offender guilty by associations. They are all lumped into one. So you hope to identify your guy's gang affiliation. Good luck boys and girls. Some idiot fucked it all up. Last guy I ran was a GD, BD, MC, Black Stone and then 8 different factions of the Vicelords. Then, try going back on another arrest to see his gang affiliation and its all lumped into one again. What a joke. I think maybe somebody in the food chain thought they were maybe doing a good thing when infact they fucked everything up. God, who comes up with this shit.

What was not reported was the fact that the "occupy" people put out fliers recruiting people who were patients there. They promised them a rally to support the cause and FOOD...then they locked (chained doors, etc.) them in the clinic w/ the protesters (without their knowledge). Absolutley shameful that they would exploit the very people they claim to protect for a headline. In addition, "they" would not let those patients in the clinic to speak up when the police came in causing the number "arrested" to be so high.

C'mon SCC, the guy is a protester at a mental health facility.....do you think he knows the difference between a chainsaw and the Stihl saws we use. As goofy as this department is we don't use chain saws to cut steel and concrete. We use the saws you refer to, jackhammers, and a couple other tools I won't get into especially with NATO right around the corner. We even train for this stuff and luckily have a few "old timers" (20+yrs on) that really know this stuff well. I'm just surprised the protesters were that well organized....hmmm maybe this NATO stuff won't be as easy as the dept. thinks....

Chainsaws? Hardly. Don't be confused by the name. The news media goofs think the tool used must be a chainsaw because metal chain was cut. The saws used on the metal chains were concrete-cutters with perfectly round, diamond tipped blades.

A chainsaw is portable, handheld and named so because it uses a linked, metal, chain-like loop, with a sharpened edge at each link, which is spun either electrically or by a gas-powered engine in an elliptical pattern to cut organic, porous material like tree branches and tree trunks.

On the small end, concrete cutters are similar in size and portability to a chainsaw, but are equipped with a round diamond blade that is made to cut through solid materials like concrete, metal chains and metal locks.

Using a chain saw on metal chains would cause nothing but failure and multiple injuries. It would be akin to using a glass water tumbler to drive an eight-penny nail.

BTW, fuck the media, TD 9.5 and McLiar.

In SOS we had cut teams for just that situation and the equipment to do the job. As a matter of fact there was a vehicle that had the appropriate saws and equipment on it. But that was back when we were actually prepared for incidents like that. And oh yeah , if I hear Rahm lie and say he put 600 officers back on the street from DESK DUTY again, when the majority came from MSF and TRU , ill gag. But hey that doesn't have anything to do with the soaring homicides rate, does it.

Hahah...you're a cop and like you never ever heard the lines: I didn't know, it's not my fault, just let me go I didn't do it, before?

Oh please.

Now you want to pull the victim card to push a political agenda?

So what you're saying is they used the people like the mayor and the alderman used the people, 'the children', for their personal agenda. Just following their mentors then I guess. If it's good enough for the mayor we should all try it maybe?

Why should one be anymore shameful than the other. It's just like the mayors speed trap cameras for the children campaign to exploit the children's families under the guise of providing protection.

Pretty shameful that the kids are more likely to be shot then hit by a speeding car don't you think?

Anyways.. people being held without their consent is kidnapping. If this so-call alleged fact is true then we should see some people up on charges soon.

In the meantime be on the lookout for those mental patients that have gone off their meds and don't whine about it since you seem to endorse the actions that put them there.
