Channel 7 just broadcast a bunch of whiny Occupy people demanding the release of some protestors who were arrested last night in Bridgeport. They are claiming peaceful protestors were detained and a building searched without a warrant.
What they aren't saying (and neither is Channel 7) is that these "peaceful protestors" were caught in the act filling bottles with gasoline and sitting with a bizarre assortment of weapons ranging from crossbows to throwing stars.
For those who claim "bullshit" or attempt to defend these assholes, we don't have third hand knowledge or second hand knowledge of this event. We have direct knowledge and this mayor, this superintendent and mouthpieces like Healey can go fuck themselves for keeping this from the public, encouraging the public to bring families downtown into this crap, and for sending police officers into this type of atmosphere in "soft clothes" and under-trained.
By the way, has anyone read anything about protestors throwing bags of excrement at the Board of Trade yesterday? That happened, too, and we can't find any report of it. And the additional bags of excrement at Daley Plaza today? Not a whisper in the media. Curious, isn't it?

In 99% of cases, police cannot sue when injured in duty. However, if you have documented proof of asking to wear riot grea and documented proof that you were denied, and as a direct result the injury sustained would unequivically have been prevented if such gear was worn...then you MAY have a case....but likely to get shot down as a failure of your union to protect your interest as your safety interests as far as uniforms are concerned are union responsibilities. I was informed on Tuesday that my days off on Saturday and Sunday are cancelled, no problem. It's Thursday 2200 and I have not been given any time or place to report to or told what equipment to bring. Hey! They have only had 2 years to figure this out.
I talked to a person who is not Police but attends the highest level meetings and this person says no one is in charge and there is no concensus on what is the best way to proceed, which is probably the reason we have no deployment orders.

I saw the S**t at CBOT yesterday and heard about the others. Some of the stragglers wandering around the loop yesterday were harassing regular people. Peaceful protest my ass. I saw a gang of Black Bloc goons attack a 97-year-old wheelchair-bound woman and then they drowned bunnies and puppies in the Civic Center Fountain.

I was at Daley Plaza (Friday). Most people were just typical deluded moonbats, some were actually quite comical. But there were a number of the bandanaed jerkoffs. While quiet at the plaza they were getting worked up and ready to go off at any perceived slight. No matter what they say, they are there for the conflict period. They want to get violent, break shit and fight with the cops,the hatred they exude is palpable and frightening. This is VERY apparent, but oblivious to the mainstream media. The thing that gets me though is that the regular protesters know what these thugs are up to, intermingling freely with them, yet do nothing to keep them out. I went downtown to see the fun. I enjoyed the nurses speaking although I wish they had that much energy when I'm in the ER with a back problem. ;) Once the idiots with bandanas and masks started streaming in my cares went away. I noticed some of the ACLU observers intentionally walk in the way of officers and at some points walk right into them. I doubt the observers were blind. Why? Because I saw a couple blind people escorted through the area by CPD officers. NONE of the protesters would move out of the way and they wouldn't move out of my cane using ass. I had it kicked out from under me a couple times by people scrambling to take pictures or wave their halfassed sign. Sad stuff.

Message: Every month I go to the union meeting to be in the loop. What bothers me is, the amount of people that come to meetings and voice there interests. Now is the time we need to gain strength and unite as one. THE next year is going to be hell on everyone. Beat cars>>> get a job which requires two people... wait for your backup. They will never hire more officers if there is no need. ET's we need prints.. find them, please do not say "we do not go out on that type of case" call the dogs out for everything that needs a dog. Answer your jobs TIMELY and be safe

Speaking of idiots...the union is beefing about comp time instead of money for this little NATO thing. The department is not paying for this the feds are and they obviously can not give us city comp time.
It would be nice if you knew what the fuck you are talking about.
You still are employed by the City of Chicago Police Department. Your working conditions are covered by a legal contract.
The City is paying you, but then they are reimbursed by the Feds. The City wants all the OT paid in money because it is easier to present the Feds with a single bill.
If you were at Tuesday's meeting, this was discussed and it was stated that you still have the option for time or money.
Thank you Dep Chief CV. 025 was too hard for you so now they assigned you to logistics for NATO. Where was the food and water? The radio batteries? Everything to eat and drink was from the civil war. When teams showed up at the chow lines, they were told to come back later - no food yet. And how does the battery resupply truck show up with only a dozen batteries - FOR SOME 35 RADIOS! I can't wait until Sunday.
