- I wanted to post this earlier. I am 32yrs old and work as a massage therapist in lincoln park. About a year ago I left work and walked to the Armitage stop on the brown line to go to the MM. It was Monday about 1:30pm. I noticed a guy that looked out of place also waiting for the train. Now of course he got on the same train car as I did and sat by me. On a crowded train this guy decides to expose himself to me. As much as I wanted so shove my umbrella up his ass and open it (it was a rainy day) I chose not to waste a good umbrella. I started swearing and screaming at the guy. He jumped off the train at the Chicago Ave stop. I stayed on and exited at MM.
After seeing this "undesirables' shaft I needed a cigarette. As I walked through MM, I saw Off. Pagan. I told him what happened, gave a description and went outside to have my smoke. Well guess who comes walking out with this pos?? Off. Pagan!! I was thrilled. I asked him where he found him and the officer said he went back to the train platform and this asshole was walking toward him. I signed some papers, got a court date and the guy was arrested.I showed up to court,the undesirable did not of course. But I did get a letter a month later saying that he got 90 days in the county. Now this pile of brown trash lived on the southside, had a prior public indecency and a burglary. Hmmmmm...wonder what this guy was doing in Lincoln Park at 1pm on a Monday?? Probably looking for another house to rob. And he exposed himself on a crowded train. What would he have done if it were just me and him on that train car??? Also a security guy came outside but all he had was a walkie-talkie, no uniform.How was I supposed to know he was security?
Usually when crimes are being committed, especially when they are against myself I'm looking for the guy /woman with the blue shirt, bullet proof vest, and GUN!!!!! Now this arrest may be funny and no big deal to some of you guys. But I appreciated the good police work this officer did. And to Pam Zeckman, with your rodent like features, you dont have to worry about a guy exposing anything to you!! Why dont you follow around the drug dealers and gang bangers who are destroying their own neighborhoods and put their names and faces on TV??

Maybe there are some police officers stashed away in offices that could be put to better use but putting a single policeman in a 4 million square foot retail space (that once was the largest on planet earth) is a no-brainer. It requires no explanation.
Matter of fact, based on what I've seen, there are other critical and/or sensitive areas that would benefit from similar allocation of manpower.
You to go other countries in Europe or Israel, stationing police officers in places like that is standard. The difference between them and us is, they usually station about 6 men, whereas we station a single man and the media complains about it?
Really, this is one of those times where the Chicago Police shouldn't even waste any energy dignifying the medias agenda with any sort of 'excuse' or 'apology' or even a reason. On it's surface, stationing a man at Merchandise Mart is just plain common sense. End of story, the beatoffs in television news can piss off.
Love it! When I worked at MMart, Officer Pagan worked there. He was always doing his job, all business, no b.s.
If Ms. Zekman had any sense of decency, she would seek this poster out and write a follow-up, but that wouldn't be a ratings 'sweeps' story, so she won't do it.
I wonder if some other news outlet might do it, though - just to tweak Zekman a little bit.
Well it's a nice story and doesn't it point out that the brass should maybe have their officers patrolling the public train, bus, and CTA stations instead of citizens having to track them down working on private property?
Sounds like a waste of good manpower by having him doing what he's been assigned to do.

The media doesn't do reports on anything of danger they are too afraid too. The reporting has a lot to be desired. We should tell them to do their job, n that means quality reporting which we have seen for yrs.
Maybe if this pervert was given 6 YEARS instead of 90 days he wouldn't be a problem for a while. Just a real shame decent folks have to put up with this trash every day. Just another morbid sign of a city in decline. The fuckheads at city hall could care less about the safety of it's citizens. All about the MONEY. That is what counts at the Hall.

Anyone who is expecting any factual evidence from TV, radio, newspapers is going to be misinformed. Articles and stories routinely contradict each other. Editorials ignore the facts and pander to the carefully quantified "customer". People only want to hear "facts" that support their own concepts. As for who "People" are, I not only march in that parade, but carry a banner (apologies to M. Twain).

If the officer DID say what is suggested here, CBS would have edited it right out of the story anyway and just cut in the part where the officer had to leave to meet with his Sgt.
Remember, SO FAR, 3 members of the media have been fired for doctoring 911 tapes and video evidence in the Trayvon Martin, George Zimmerman self defense case in Florida. These media types are despicable and will stop at NOTHING to support their ultra liberal agenda.
I say we should hammer all media trucks when they are parked illegally. Write them and do yourself a favor take picture with your cell phone documenting the violation.
Also this is off topic but can some of you please tell me why we don't lock up those damn tow truck drivers who are chasing accidents, the majority of them are gang bangers with timted windows and loads of other violations. This is true, but it's OK. You can be the best copper in the world and not be a polished, poised, cocktail-party-smart public-relations specialist, too.
TV people also try to be as intimidating as possible when they think they've got something. I guess it makes up for how some of them are only about 4'9" when you see them on the street, not on the bigscreen.
I know some TV engineering guys, the ones you never see, and they don't like a lot of the reporters either. Don't sweat it.
For police, it's running down alleys, busting into burning houses, pulling people out of the lake, etc. That is plenty more than enough.

The MM did not reqest an ofc, nor do they want one, especially when it reflects bad on them. Now I don't know this Ofc, but some who do say that he is a nice guy & maybe he is. I will tell you that a FOI request will provide you with details on crime, arrest & other stats from local authorities; go check it out and stop lying. SCC just had an example of how some officers are punished for violating dept rules and the laws of the land, while others are given a slap on the wrist as in the case of Jerome Finnegan and "Mr. Herrera"; go back a few stories & read it again. The correlation with this ofc pagan and getting slapped on the wrist is that he was caught on several occasions driving his spouse to work after first driving his children to a pvt school when he was suppose to be on his post. Thats right, at the tax payers expense. Now we know there are others, especially white shirts like "Al W." that have done this, but when does it stop? If it weren't for mr. Charlie Williams(dir. of security-MM) and his patsy kenny, this ofc. Pagan would have been in a lot of trouble to say the least. She is a muckraker. That. Is her job. I agree with the posts that say if you're not doing wrong, stand your ground with her and respond to media as per policy. I saw her interview a teacher for lunch fraud and this guy entered his car from the passenger side and climbed to the drivers seat. He was guilty as fuck, but the running reaction is what she wants. You don't run and talk to her-she won't use the footage.

I came on this blog to stick up for a police officer who did his job. He served and protected by assisting me and finding this creep.
I am not a cop. I am a massage therapist. Nobody put me up to this. I wonder how many rub-n-tugs you had while on-duty? And if you havent had one, maybe you should get a little pull so you wont be so concerned with who's working where, in what building, making how much, driving who around to what kind of school.
Its not like the officer was playing strip poker with some drunk chick and leaving pieces of his uniform behind. Its not like he beat up a female bartender. Its not like he tried to have another officer killed. And its not like he snitched on a fellow police officer to someone that looks like she spins around in a hamster wheel.
