Run to Remember

  • He nearly died after being shot in the line of duty. On Thursday, Chicago Police Officer Del Pearson thanked the officers who saved his life and revealed he’ll be the official starter for the Police Memorial Foundation’s annual “Run to Remember” 5K this weekend.

“I’m doing great. I feel lucky,” Pearson said in an interview at Police Headquarters on Thursday.

Hopefully, by this time next year, he'll be running in it.

The whole thing about this is illegal guns on the street. The Area gun teams just got faxes this evening that FOID cards are really bogus now since there has been errors in the system. As we recall the police have to have FOID cards and there are errors in the system? The very system that is supposed to protect the card carrying good guys. Stay tuned on this. Check the Channel Nine Breaking News on this. More lawsuits are yet to come on this blunder by the state.

FOID Cards are a joke. The 2nd Amendment gives you the right to own a gun.

The wrong people are being required to register.

Illinois and Chicago are looking for ways to increase revenues, well here is a law that should be passed immediately. PLEASE SUPPORT IT.

THE IDUM ACT
ALL gun control advocates should be required to register for their IDUM Cards.

IDUM= "I am a Dependent Unarmed Moron"

ALL holders of the IDUM Cards shall pay $500 annually to help defray all the additional money spent on additional police protection they require because they are unarmed and cannot protect themselves.

ALL politicians who are gun control advocates shall be required to pay $25,000 annually.

There - problem solved and more revenue to pay for the bloated government we have here.

Next case.

Even the greedy ass mayor and his $5 parking fee cannot ruin this event for me and my family. Best event a P.O. can be involved in. Great cause, great scenery and great company. R.I.P. to all the fallen officers!!!

A class act, all the way.
It's 'great' that you are "doing great."
But YOU are not the (only) lucky one.
All of your brothers and sisters on the job, past and present, are likewise lucky to have you as part of that "Thin Blue Line" and truly consider you as that revered product as 'Chicago's Finest.'
Full and speedy recovery, brother.

Google 'Australian police officer + Chicago Rehabe Institute'....but here's the gist of it:

A year ago, in the Australian outback, a strong and healthy police constable – Marron – was bitten by a mosquito. He contracted encephalitis and rapidly lost the ability to move and to speak. So on Wednesday, he ended a grueling 30-hour flight from Australia to Chicago, a journey of faith and hope that he can be made whole again.

OT.

It hurt to see our hero, Del Pearson, at this morning's run, asking everyone to keep giving to the Chicago Police Memorial Fund (CPMF) with Cline at his side. I am glad Del is doing so well, but he must not be aware of Cline's alterior motives.

Cline created and continues to use the CPMF for his personal enrichment at 150K a year plus a car, which is beyond contemptable. Cline created a money-making machine off the backs of our fallen for his own profit.

Modest compensation plus expenses should be enough for an honorable man who has a yearly pension of $150K from the CPD, but not Cline. He takes 150K in pension and 150K from the CPMF and laughs all the way to the bank.

And before all the Cline lover's get their undies in a bunch and report his compensation comes from corporate donations, not from the money given by the troops, his handsomely paid association with the fund has an unsavory appearance, regardless of which donations are earmarked for his excessive compensation.

Cline takes from the CPMF the same as he did at the CPD. He used the CPD to enrich his friends and he is using the CPMF to enrich himself. He is despicable.

I am sure that corporate donations are far greater than the money he gets from policemen. Yet the money that the fund gives to policemen only come out of our donations. The CPMF leaves a bad taste in my mouth too. Hate to see officers pimped out in regard to it.

After I found out that 74 cents out of every dollar donated to the cancer society goes to administration costs, I stopped my donations. I would love to know what the cost of administration of this foundation is before I give another dime. Dont just tell me because you THINK you know, but show me the financials. A smart consumer is a good consumer.

Does anyone have the facts about the cost of administration of the Chicago Police Memorial Fund? Interesting Cline makes over 150K running this fund. Thats a bit excessive, wouldnt you say? A gold braid pension and a huge salary, Hmmmm thats around 275k a year plus expenses. Now thats a windfall on the patrolman's backs!

You know some coppers will complain about anything ... WE have the finest Police Memorial in the country that gives to officers and their families in need. Who started this ??? Phil Cline ...where are you complainers ??? What have YOU started ??? What benefits have you hosted ??? None I am sure ... Next you will quit donating to breast cancer ... check out the Y-Me foundation and see who takes from that or JDRF , Or any of the other outfits. I have been to Cedric Brumley's home and to many of the other officers in need who wait for things while the city dicks them around. The Memorial foundation comes through ... where are YOU ... I guarentee, and I hope that day never comes for you ... that if something tragic happens, you complainers will be there with your hand out. If you want to know where the money goes ... look it up ... Charitable organization tax returns are public record.

I work in 009. I handled a fire that happened to be the home of an off duty copper that was on military leave. His family had no where to stay and Phil Cline took care of these people without any questions. I don't know if this foundation is run correctly, but this copper's family was very appreciative and impressed as was I.

Typical bullshit response, you think its right for cline to pull 150 k a year plus expenses? I bet he runs upwards of 100 k in expenses. You are a mush to keep donating to make some wealthy, and yes the memorial does good but at what price? I have looked into charitable organizations and have stopped donating to many for the same reason.
