No Blame, No Credit

Not that we've been paying attention, but doesn't it seem like not one single boss wants their fingerprints anywhere near this NATO thing? It's like they know that if it goes south in a hurry, the only place they'll be is under a bus watching it pass them by.

If it goes well, it'll be one massive orgy of self congratulations and back slapping.

But if it goes the other way....we'll just say we haven't seen such a dearth of names put to paper in many years, many careers.

LORI HEALEY'S ENTIRE BELIEF SYSTEM CRUMBLES -- NATO SUMMIT MAY LEAVE CHICAGO RESTAURANTS HUNGRY

By Kate MacArthur May 01, 2012

(Crain's) — Though the upcoming NATO summit will have a purported $128 million economic impact on Chicago, it looks like a sales bust for the city's biggest restaurants.

"City hotels are expected to pick up the bulk of revenue from the May 20 event, restaurateurs predict. For their own businesses, dining proprietors expect the event to be more for show than an actual moneymaker.

“I was hoping it would be more business rather than less,” says Glenn Keefer, who owns the River North steakhouse Keefer's and is a silent partner with Tavern on the Park. “We have no reservations Monday the 21st and very few from Saturday the 19th,” he said following a security briefing at the Illinois Restaurant Association this morning.

"He is concerned about talk that area companies will close down or allow workers to work remotely for safety. “Our business relies on people going to work,” he said.

"Tavern on the Park, which sits on the north end of Millennium Park, will be open for business as usual on Saturday and Monday, though the Prudential Building will be closed...The restaurant has installed Plexiglas over the windows..."

"With NATO in town, “it's security, security, security,” says Matt Moore, co-owner of Chicago Cut Steakhouse on the north side of the Chicago River. “I can only see a downside.”

Simply irresponsible to put millions of people in this city in harms way by making us a target for terrorist.

We don't even have the money for this summit, we're broke. We're cutting healthcare, cutting pensions, cutting everything.

On top of it all we are now forcing our limited resources like healthcare professionals to do dirty bomb drills instead of treating the people and doing their jobs.

It's eff-ing greed and power driven insanity!

Oh..I see...yeah... if an airplane mistakenly enters the NATO restricted airspace or God forbid and actual terrorist enters the restricted NATO airspace that's okay because we will shoot them down before they take any of the NATO dignitaries out?!!!

We're the tough guys! SERIOUSLY!!??

Tons of debris if it's a jet and missile components raining down on your citizens heads, homes, and businesses and we're cool with that as a plan as long as the dignitaries are protected.

CAN THEY POSSIBLE BE ANYMORE ARROGANT THAN THAT?

I think I know how the people in these other countries feel about these NATO drone strikes now. Innocent civilians get taken out it's oh well shit happens. They were nobody important anyway.

If the NATO people want to boast about what they accomplished in Afghanistan let 'em all go to Afghanistan so that they can see first hand what they created and how the people there feel about them.

If they made the country so safe go hold your summit over there as a celebration. Show us by your actions don't try to baffle people with your bullshit.

The people are suppose to believe that this time around the NATO summit is going to be different? Ha!! How many cities have thought and said that I wonder.

Damn straight none of these bosses want to be under the bus while wearing the big shitty panties of accountability when this flaming yak fuck goes south...

Don't feel any pity for these over paid and soon to be over pensioned humps because they're all a product of the Daley Inc., Rahm & Co., alderfool & rev'run Klout Kollege.

These bendovers are willing to accept casualties among Police Officers in hope that "things don't go too badly" and they have a seat for when the music stops playing.

Loved McMooky's screaming video...

"I will be on the front line with you..."

We want to see him jump in front of the first bag of shit...

Hopefully somebody snaps the picture for posterity.

That includes the entire exempt echelon too. Lets see if they can "take it" just like they're demanding the Patrolman to "take it."

Never fling shit on large angry men with clubs and firearms...

The thinking of the reasonable man demands the shit flinger gets his/her/it's ass beat.

Go away with that "admirable restraint by the Police" nonsense.

"We're actually very glad The Police didn't lawfully and justifiably REALLY fuck people up for being stupid like they could have."

According to sneed, on the suntimes version of toilet paper, page 4, stated rahm emmauel has got this. "No joke on emmanuel" the byline read. Sneveling sneed wrote rahm and 4 star General Patraeus has got it all under control. Heck, political powerhouse rahm is so confident, both he and the retired general plan on attending the memorial day parade, the following weekend. Seems little caligula has got sneed to portray him as this leader among men, who will be in the frontline, with the troops. Rahm will be up, at the pritzker's hyatt, those that stand to make the most profit from this fiasco, waving at the crowd like mussolini. All the while taxpaying officers, workers, displaced residents , tax paying citizens have all, unvoluntarily put skin in the game. We shall see, how this wont cost us one way or another. All to make sure his and Obama' s political benefactors get paid. G-d bless and watch over everyone. We will get through this, rahm will praise himself, but we all know it will be the dedication and professionalism of the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd watch that will save this city and its citizens and no one can never say different.

Can't lock down a major city's entire downtown district for a long weekend and not expect major negative economic outcomes, both short-term (lack of revenue, payroll costs for idle employees, etc) and long-term (property damage, image damage, loss of tourism associated w/increased media reporting of crime, etc).

Rahm's pursuit of G8/NATO conferences w/o regard for the COSTS to Chicago, its business community, and its taxpayers is PROOF that this guy has major ADHD issues: lack of attention to details, lack of executive functioning, lack of foresight, lack of time management skills, etc.

Rahm's acquisition of G8/NATO summits borders in criminal neglect of his duties as mayor of Chicago. The ONLY positive outcome of this event would be a relatively calm NATO weekend which increases his political profile to forward his career aspirations to Senate and/or presidency. However, his performance thus far indicates to me that he's very ill-equipped to be a politican w/actual responsibilities and oversight duties.

No one has mentioned the puff-piece Crains did this week on Rahm's term thus far. Perhaps all the quoted civic leaders are too cowed to provide an honest assessment of his performance thus far. Crains' articles were ludicrous in their praise.

OT - with shortage of ET's and FI's
in the crime lab , it's time for CPD to cross train detective to perform duties of crime scene processing . ET's and FI's could then be trained to investigate crimes like a detective . Detecti9ves are usually on a crime scene before crime lab and it's the beat officer and detectives who point out locvation of evidence to be collected and photographed .

"Lori Healey's Entire Belief System Crumbles -- NATO Summit May Leave Chicago Restaurants Hungry"

Well now!

Crain's apparently knows AND acknowledges what The Police and the too few discerning citizens know and acknowledge...

In spite of the Rahm & Co./Daley Inc. City Hall spin and high kabuki theater replete with crashing cymbals, madly plucked strings, swishing robes, pantomimed jaw-jacking, hand-wringing, excruciating screams and scenes of flashy ritual belly slitting and other stylized fuckery worthy of the back of the 79th St. bus...

The NATO summit is an unmitigated, fully ablaze, un-braked and rapidly downhill rolling shit show that makes the North Koreans green with envy.

Damn... All that's missing from this production are the miles of dummy warheads and cardboard tank mock ups mounted on bicycles passing in parade along with "patriotic" music and subtitles praising "dear leader."

Heh... Everybody that fancies themselves to being "somebody" is scrambling to get away from this shit extravaganza like terrorist recruits realizing THEY'RE going to be chained to the steering wheel of the boom car... While somebody ELSE gets to hold the remote.

They're deathly afraid they'll actually have to WORK for a living after this.

Illinois north of I-80 will become desert before enough wood can be cut to build a scaffold big enough to dangle all these thieves from.

Flaming Tutu will make sure The Police somehow get blamed and marched off to the stalags while the public cheers and throws confetti...

After all... He's on a tight schedule. Gotta poison the well of good will before contract negotiation time so he can "put it in the Cops ear."

Ain't that typical Chicago style fuckery for ya?

The Chicago Parking Meter LLC now wants an additional payment of $14 million for meters that were down because of construction and other bullshit. This is on top of the $13.5 old folks and cripples who have handicap tags didn't pay since the meter deal first started. The thieves at CPM LLC have already taken in a record $80 million for 2011 and counting. And these fuckers want more. Nice to note that Daley, his former Corporation Council, and two of his top aides now work for the law firm that put this bogus parking deal together. Avis LaVelle, Daley's former spokesperson, is now the spokesperson for CPM LLC. Hmmmmm.

Hope the business and building owners realize their insurance policies don't cover damage due to civil unrest. They cut that out after the 60's. So unless the Feds, and thus us the taxpayers, cover it, any damages will be paid for out of their own pockets. Even if the Feds do cover it, how long is it going to take for them to cut a check. I'm sure, either way, all those owners are going to love the inconvenience.

For you little leaguers out there, let me tell you about prentice marshall the federal judge that, in my opinion, opened the door for a lot of this bs. He started the affirmative action promotions and quota system for race and gender minorites back in the 70's. Exams were designed to be minority friendly, but, when the rank order did not produce the "desired" results the city went to "qualified" and "more qualified" lists where the powers to be could pick and choose who THEY wanted promoted. This eventually evolved into the 'merit' system that has put the dept. in the state of ineptness it finds itself today.
In the old days there was still clout, but enough qualified people could honestly gain a promotion.

Thanks for allowing me to rant, and keep them pension checks coming.
Although I am 1000 plus miles away, in a red state with concealed carry, I feel for my friends and relatives still living up there behind the wrought iron curtain. I pray some day you will be liberated

Yeah, I love the way Crain's put it -- "the upcoming NATO summit will have a purported $128 million economic impact."

THEY DON'T TELL YOU WHETHER THAT'S GOING UP OR DOWN!

What -- an airliner going into the ground has a "$128 million impact," too!

Actually, it's been documented that the city added "profit and loss" together to come up with that number!

As bad as CompStat -- as long as you have some kind of number, it doesn't matter how you got there or what the number means.

Channel 7 News put a City of Chicago "NATO Security press conference" on just now -- first time I've seen McCarthy in weeks. He appeared to be standing up without assistance.

Forrest Claypool came on to tell us that he didn't know what this will do to the CTA, that "experts" would "have this information on some web site later."

Eight or nine "officials" standing there, and that was it.

"Now we'll take questions."

Unbelievable.

Crazy.

Deb Kirby on there, "everybody knows but nobody knows but information will be provided, sort of."

"Unclear, unclear, unclear."

LSD closure, Stevenson closure, Kennedy to be repeatedly closed for motorcades...IDOT is simply telling drivers to "avoid Chicago."

...but Lori Healey says "get on a (delayed) CTA train or (detoured, crawling) CTA bus and bring the whole family down to the potential ground-to-air missile debris field..."

Detecti9ves are usually on a crime scene before crime lab and it's the beat officer and detectives who point out locvation of evidence to be collected and photographed .

I would rather the department hire the 1400 officers we need . Instead of giving the detectives or ets more jobs to do... just a thought

That's what I don't understand. We are talking about millions of dollars in lost revenue for a city that is cash strapped. Heck even if we weren't cash strapped, this money should go into our operations budget. Instead the shortfalls are made up through red light cameras and reducing city workers benefits and pension. It's criminal how this deal went through yet It's unlikely nothing will be done about it because on some strange planet the deal of selling a city asset that does not belong to a mayor is somehow legal.

5/05/2012 06:30:00 AM

OT: Dept of Revenue wants to thank Beat 1822/21/23 for their assistance with street cleaning today.

We would suggest you get out of the Squad Car to check first and see if the vehicle already has a Ticket on it though.

Cause we are under orders to report Squad Beat #s and the Badge # of any officer that double taps as of May 1st to IAD for a Rule 2 and 14 violation

5/04/2012 03:05:00 PM

DOR...your alleged tickets were not on the cars. Until the City tells officers NOT to write citations as part of our activity, just stay off our turf. You guys are known to write tickets on the fly with your little machine and then not put them on the car. Remember we have in car video and you are responsible to your own version of IAD, which is the Inspector General's office. Now YOU are warned.

it's time for CPD to cross train detective to perform duties of crime scene processing
---------------
just a curiousity thing on my part. why not train the detectives to do most or all of the crime scene work. it does not seem like a very cost effective thing to me to have people standing around waiting for the ETs to show up.

I am pretty sure the work is not rocket science so the average detective is probably able to learn how to do it. They probably already have seen enough of it to be able to do most of it already.

Loking at it from the outside it would seem like the detetcives might well actually benefit form the work. Get them more familiar with the evidence.

Is there some legal reason why this is not done? Or something not obvious?

The Revenue putz is 100% right about that district. They are lazy with how they check cars for prior citations. 3 CPD SUV's for a 5 blk street cleaning grid is pathetic.
I've seen PO's double up on a rush hour car the same day because they were too 'busy' get out of their squad to walk around the vehicle. I wonder about the sheer laziness of PO's in this department and then I look that stories like this one:
