"Close Election"

With the mainstream media going on and on all day about a "dead heat" in Wisconsin recall elections, we were all set for a long night of surfing the web and watching the news until some sort of result came forth. The democrats had some 400 lawyers on call in Wisconsin and applied for injunctions to keep the polling places open late.

And after all that noise and tens of millions of dollars spent?

  • The Associated Press and several TV networks have projected a narrow win for Republican Wisconsin Scott Walker, as votes continue to be counted across the state.
Narrow = 10%. Talk about spinning the numbers.

And Walker signed Concealed carry.

6/06/2012 01:32:00 AM
The American dream was built on hard work, but was given considerable help by the destruction of Europe and Asia in WWII. Now that these countries are recovered they are competing on the world stage which forces this country to do likewise.America was devasted by the depression and it took the war to bring it back with manufacturing. Now, manufacturing has left this country for lower wages and benefits overseas. The public sector unions have gotten much in the past but now it is not sustainable. The teacher's unions are bankrupting the governments. The Wisconsin voters, along with Ohio and a few other states have had enough. Illinois would be next except for the fact the unions bribe our leaders. When the teacher's pension fund goes belly up they will be crying.

The Trib and Sun Times certainly spent a lot of space covering this reelection. It makes you wonder in what state we are living in, Wisconsin or Illinois? Both papers have such a hard on for the Dems in Wisconsin.

The 2010 Wisconsin gubernatorial election was already a referendum on Obama and the Dems. Scott Walker and the Republicans won that election. Now, less than two years, referendum 2.0 and the same result occurs. I think it's pretty clear the Republicans have the upper hand in Wisconsin at the moment.

Lastly, Lynn Sweet must have drank a 40oz of that Obama kool-aid last weekend when Barack was in town. Her most recent article is a great example of spin.

This is a victory for good government, not a strike against unions. I will take cost of living raises and forego bargaining if we could ensure lower unemployment, govt surplus budgets, and lower property taxes which is what is happening in Wisconsin.

A big raise will serve no purpose if the state is bankrupt.

In case you were wondering:

The Town of Springfield, located in northwestern Dane County, Wisconsin is predominately a farming community. The town is about six miles square bordering both sides of U.S.Hwy. 12.

A population of approximately 2,848 enjoy the rural atmosphere, with its gently rolling topography. We are served by three different school districts, four post offices, three EMS departments and two fire departments.

Apparently they're not served by a police department, at least according to this.

Here here brother. But one exception, see through the veil on thinking the democrats only want to help the non-working welfare class. There are industries, organizations, and big-time college programs designed for these social service issues. It creates jobs just like crime does. Now we in Chicago won't see major crime dissappear ever. The city is just too large but imagine how the downstate towns feel about decriminalizing weed and them having less bodies sent there to stay in their state sponsored residences...same thing with welfare. You better know there are people getting paid and jobs getting created off it it. Don't believe me, look into the recent rise in big grocery chains taking food stamps. If you think they're against food stamps, you are crazy. Even fast food joints want to access food stamp dollars now. Ask farmers if they are against food stamps and WIC. They probably vote republican but they enjoy the fruit of democrats work, believe it.

How many Illinois politicians - ON BOTH SIDES - have done as good a job, especially with ALL the time they have had in office?

Quinn?

Cullerton?
Topinka?

And you guys still go out and re-elect these people? Stop your whinin'. OR - vote 'em all out.

Part of Wisconsin's "union" problem was that some of the unions never had their employees put any money into their pension plan. It was entirely financed by the State. Walker wanted union workers to contribute toward their own pension.
We, on the other hand, contribute toward our pension but the city refuses to put their agreed amount of monies into the fund.
If you ran your household like the city/state runs the government, you'd be out on your ass. When the government gets their money, they run out and fund a new "pet project" rather than pay their bills. That would be like you taking OT check or second job money and rather than pay bills, buy a new flat-screen TV. Sorry, ComEd, I really wanted that TV....

Your a total idiot if you think we don't need unions. Our grandfathers busted their chops to establish unions so that we could have a decent life. No unions is total big goverment control. My brother you are about to feel them squeeze the cheese. The #'s in the WI vote is a huge statement on how the rest of the world views the public employee. Somewhere along the way"taxpayers" were told that we are living rich. I don't know any city employees who can pay the morgage & feed the kids on our salaries. If we live comfortably it is because we have 2nd & 3rd jobs. If your lucky enough to have a spouse with a job then maybe you can squeeze in a private education.
But let the powers that be keep on going. Keep fucking with the teachers, the police, the fire, the S&S, all, who are a HUGE part of that "taxpayer" base that keeps getting shoved down our throats. We are as close as you can get to the bottom. I guarantee we are the next in line for food pantry.
Now go pay your property tax.

The US invasion of Okinawa had more ships/ US troops involved than any invasion ever.

We hear the term D-Day and don't realize EVERY landing in WW2 was called D-Day.

Unions actually are quite important for the working man, and I hope those of you slamming the FOP are being sarcastic, because without it you would be truly boned.

The problem with unions in the USA today is that union leadership completely forgot the instructions from Samuel Gompers and Adolph Strasser to avoid marriage to any political party and to use both sides to their advantage. Once labor whored themselves to the Democrats it was open season as far as the Republicans were concerned, and the Dems were looking for that prostitute relationship instead of actual partnership.

I agree with you until you said unions are for suckers. A lot of unions are b.s. and a lot of union officials are scum bags. But, before CPD recently got collective bargaining rights we were making around $40,000. We didn't get step raises, they were up to the captain, and they just wiped your time right off the books whenever they wanted. There wasn't a thing you could do about it. We definitely need reform and someone like Walker. But, I would like him to show restraint like Walker did with police and fire's collective bargaining.

Keep the military out of this. We can't even spell grievance, ask a copper that's prior service. One thing I learned quick is that being the police is not nearly as much like being in the service as people like to think. Why are they all in the same boat? Because they are all tax payer funded positions with bargaining rights. They all also have this in common: the dog makes just as much as the hotshot and they can't easily get rid of the dog. Are you so naive to forget that policing policy is controlled and manipulated by the same people that create the Progressive values used to indoctrinate children or approve contracts with the other shoddy mob owned material on a continual yearly basis. We got the same bosses genious! By the way, in the military..unless the dog has got some good juice, you will not get paid because you will not be promoted and one bad annual eval can ruin your career progression. Yeah there is longevity but not like being a copper. Even military dogs rely on promotion for pay increases, not just being employed like the dogs in public sector unions. Some of you guys need more experience prior to being a copper because I tell you what I told my old man...public sector unions would be a force to reckon with IF they found a way to kick the dogs out. That's the one issue of credibility the public sector unions are losing to the general public...protection for the dogs. What do you think a troop drawndown is. They are forcing out low performers across DoD branches right now, while we have people protesting our budget cuts. Military personnel expect this and live with it, if public sectors unions did too...there would be a shift.

".America was devasted by the depression and it took the war to bring it back with manufacturing."

You might want to crack open a history book. America came out of the depression due to Roosevelts new deal which put thousands back to work through government public works projects. The manufacturing was to support the war effort. The GIs came home went to college& bought houses all w/ the assistance of the Government

Uh oh! You'll piss people off when you remind them that social security, medicare, GI Bill, VA home loans, farmer subsidies, land grant institutions (ie big public universities) are all funded by the government! Jeepers creepers! Before anyone even thinks I'm some anarchist...I used every cent of my GI Bill. And in college I learned that everybody wants money from the G in America and politics is all the different groups fighting over how much they want to get. That includes the super rich people. Handouts are only bad when they're to the other group that you aint in. People need to learn what a subsidy is. It's when govt gives a handout directly to one group but below the surface another group is benefitting from it.

Why do some people on this blog put Police Officers and Fire Fighters in the same boat as teachers, streets and sands laborers? Are they sworn? One job indoctrinates our children with Progressive values. The other repaves our streets with shoddy mob owned material on a continual yearly basis.

Are they expected to run towards the sounds of gunfire or enter burning buildings? We defend the Rights of Citizens guaranteed by our Constitution from domestic enemies and criminals. The Military does the same but to our foreign enemies. They also get pensions if they stay in at least 20 years. When are the slime ball politicians from either party going to start going after their?

Actually the military is sworn to support and defend the Constitution of United States against all enemies, foreign AND DOMESTIC.

I'm a CPD sergeant and and I stand with Walker!!!! In fact, Wisconsin just moved up to my first choice for retirement! Hopefully the conservative Republicans will begin capital punishment in that state to combat the inner city westside crime Daley and the democrats have exported to Gods Country! See ya in Wilmot Steve!

You might want to think twice before moving to the neighbor on our northern border. Wisconsin, like Iowa, Indiana and many other states, levies a tax on pension income. Wisconsin has many nice places to reside, but it is going to cost 3% of your pension to have an address in the state of Wisconsin. That's expensive, especially if there is no COLA. And, while there are ways to avoid taking the 3% hit while living in Wisconsin, each has a downside.

Anyone that believes the cops, firefighters and teachers pensions' aren't on the hit list next is deluding themselves. Just because Walker didn't come after them now does not mean it wont happen (and you know it will). Same with Illinois, as for Chicago, you better figure out where you stand now because if you don't support the rest of them you can bet they wont support you when it comes down. Just sayin'.
