Injured Sergeant Update

  • Chicago Police Sgt. Jason Kaczynski collapsed and suffered an apparent heart attack last week while serving a search warrant at 64th and Normal at a location where an AK-47 was recovered.

He’s now listed in critical condition — and coming out of a doctor-induced coma — at the University of Chicago Medical Center.

“There’s still a lot of unanswered questions, but we’re looking at it in a positive way,” Mike Kaczynski, 43, Jason’s older brother, said Friday.

Slow going, but hopefully good news.

Working hard out here - could use a little extra help, say about 1500 officers.

Mayor finds money for "CeaseFire."

Pallohusky sentenced to 12 years in the Big House. IDOC isn't a lot of fun for former police officers. But he will be out in 6, no finding of violence. Maybe less even.

we can only wish for a decent quality of life for the young Sergeant. My dad was shot on the job in Houston Tx in 1974 and suffered for the remaining years.

The prayers of the Chicago Police Department go out to this man. God speed to a full recovery.

Jay is steadily improving and visitors are encouraged but doctors say he still needs plenty of rest. Breathing machine was removed and he sat up in the chair. Keep fighting jay!
