Teachers Strike Vote

  • It might be several days before the Chicago Teachers Union announces the results of its strike authorization vote, but already Chicago Public Schools officials are questioning the integrity of the process.

Attorneys for the district earlier this week asked the Illinois Educational Labor Relations Board to ensure that the teachers union preserve all documents relating to the vote count this week to allow for independent verification and "to investigate whether any improper conduct occurred."

CPS attorney James Franczek could not be reached for comment on the district's request, which several people close to the situation said could be the first step toward landing the issue in court.

Brizard and others are claiming the vote is being rushed and "premature," but it only makes sense before the summer retirements kick in and a whole bunch of new hires (who have no ties to the union and a big pile of student loans staring them in the face) come in an make it impossible for the 75% mark to be reached. And that's 75% of the total membership, not 75% of the people casting ballots (that's going to be a hard number to reach).

Island Boy Brizzard is a real smooth talker. He has the lies down pat and even looks surprised the teachers would want to vote for a strike. Well Mr. Brizzard when you and your boss are shitting and pissing on teachers 24/7 they are going to get angry. You two assholes also yanked thjeir 4% pay raise at the last minute and told the teachers to go fuck themselves if they didn't like it. Valid contracts don't mean shit in this town any more. So fuck you Island Boy... and your boss the Evil One also. I really hope the teachers take a hike and show the entire city what corrupt lying sons a bitches you two really are. So FUCK YOU BOTH!

Sgts voted 92% no on their last contract offer. 75% can be done, with some luck. A support protest should be conducted seeing we can't strike.

That didn't take long...but does anyone really believe the "independent" arbitrator is really independent and hasn't already been told by the little asshole what his/her recommendation is going to be in July.....I really hope they get the 75% since he was so arrogant to have the state law changed...since police and fire can't strike i hope they screw this guy and the CPD and CFD support them ....

CPS worried about integrity? Where is CPS' integrity? They must have made at least four calls to all the teachers in my family regarding the strike vote. Sounds a little like direct dealing with CTU members to me.

Buzzard like the prior lackey Arnie are both Union busters. The goal is non-union Charter schools where young teachers right out of college get burned out after two or three years. If you want to improve the education of our children, begin with their ignorant parents, if you can even find their fathers.

I'm pretty confident we got over 75%...and CTU has CPD & CFD's back, thanks for your service.

Typical dummycrat move; if you don't like what is being voted on and think that the vote is going to go against you, challenge the integrity of the vote and let it land in court and roll the dice that you get a judge that will see things your way.

I guess the dummycrats don't want the teachers union to pull the same electoral BS that they are so well known for.

I do believe slippery tongue Island Boy Brizzrad should have taken that job selling used cars in Haiti. This silver tongue jagoff could sell ice to the Eskimos.

Voting NO and voting to STRIKE are two completely different things.

The FOP and all of us need to strongly back the teachers.

The teachers will hopefully break this little tyrant's back.

i hope they can reach the 75%. i know it'd be a breeze for cpd and cfd to get that percentage. 9.5 is constantly insulting our teacher, cpd, and cfd unions with his BS games. i hope the teachers are able to come together and prove to raccoon eyes that they're more powerful together than he is. they need to work together to succeed. any cps teachers reading this should know that there are many reasons why they're casting this pre-strike count. you need to fight this asshole for your future even though those who aren't working everyday to improve the city get constant handouts. apparently rahmy doesn't believe in improving on the future of the city workers. he only cares about his agenda and will play his games to pretend he cares until a better opportunity comes up for him.

I just found a message on my answering machine from a Jennifer Herrin, who says that she is a parent and school counsel member. She wants me to text, "compromise", to a number to stop tearchers from voting for a strike before hearing WHATEVER... The message was sponsored by "End Reform Now". Who are they? Why are they stirring this shit up and where are they getting the money and for what purpose???? I thought I was on the don't call list!!!!
Makes me want to strike and I'm not a teacher!!!!!!

I agree with 05:47:00a AM. The taechers are Toxic. Has anyone seen the kind of groups they align themselves with. Well just remember NATO & Occupy Chicago. Is that really who we want to stand next to in support, not me.
Oh and remember how they brought all their Honor students for Police Brutality and Immigration marches. We are the Police and ONLY stand with our fellow officers.

They will get past the 75% hurdle Rahm put in their way. 90% plus is my best guess. We are a CFD/CPS family. Keep a close eye on this my brothers in blue. Police and Fire are next in the ring.

education Reform Now is a shill group with Juan Rangel of the $260,000 charter school salary at the helm. I am no great fan of CTU, but if Rahm hates them I am for them.

Teachers are not toxic- there are a few bleeding heart librals that think they can change the world of these neighborhood. Case and point, that dummy teacher scc posted a few months back. Some align with occupy, but are not to the socialist to the extent that is portrayed. 15 percent of of all people are idoits or niave! That transfers over to ALL professions. Just like the hairgels you all love so much that will kiss ass and bring in follow suite with stupid orders and such. We have our idiots as teachers Too. But toxic, get off the site rham-syber threats to cpd is a new tactic I see- just like all cops don't beat up bartenders at closing time on camera. Toxic please, if everyone in this city stands alone, how far will we get. Chicago way is standing up and not taking shit from people. Now stand together and give rham the finger that he is short of.

besides retirees, the other big reason to vote now is that it's hard to get everyone to vote over the summer.

The do not call list restricts solicitation for money or goods, but not political messages.

Brizzard wasnt worried about being to haste when he took away their 4% raise and said the teachers would work more hours without proper compensation. They werent worried about being haste when they violated the contract and had leaned on individual schools to start the longer day now. Rahm wasnt worried about being haste when they changed the law making it impossible for them to strike (yet to be seen). They werent worried about compromise then. Only when it became apparent that the teachers may meet the threshold did they start talking about compromise. Heck even with the strike vote the city can still compromise and negotiate...
Only now they don't have the upper hand and can't dictate what they were going to do when they thought a strike was impossible.
Rahm will have some egg on his face if it passes...
But I doubt that it will. ....

Strike vote may have already passed... The vote count doesn't need to be made public. They could silently sit on it as a wild card to keep rham guessing.

I know rham, the not knowing is the hardest part...that's what will keep you up at night right? ya fuck ya.
