UPDATE: We're missing a name or two. Who's got 'em?

UPDATE: We got 30 names - that sounds correct.

UPDATE: 31. Late addition or someone who got passed over for some reason.

It is amazing to me how many gossipy rats are out there. Why do the news media's job for them? Are you one of those clowns who has to be the first one to give out the "news?" Get a life, loser! The old days - when a cop could bear a burden and keep his mouth shut - are gone forever.

the mayor and the pols care less the affect of these promotions. it is one of those things they want to control. they cant find a place to hide all the new sgts. so the pos will have to deal with the incompetent ones. if this keeps the public happy so be it, keep voting for inept pols. bottom line our contract is with the citizens, not rahm or the other lap dogs. so shake your head, spit on the ground, show how a professional acts and do your job.

How many beat officers should be the question. I hope all of them.

I am s supervisor and work in 007. Seeing this list is just a joke, you mean to tell me there is not one promotable person working in the 007th district? I work with those officers every day and I can tell you that most are more qualified than any two promoted from those outside units! The officers in 007 bust their butts from beginning to end of every tour. With the stuff they deal with on a daily basis, they are more qualified than most by overall experience. I do not want to undermined those officers working districts who are always under represented in promotions (003, 005, 009, 011 etc...).
Its a wonder those officers continue to work as hard as they do when the exempt staff continues to tell them their not qualified by refusing to promote from working districts and continue to promote from clout filled units.

Really surprised that people were " made " with manpower being short and all. I wish everyone congratulations that were promoted. It seems a true hard worker whether in patrol or a unit will not be promoted because the " worker " is what they have to have on the street. It's just a terrible shame that the " workers' " out there on the street that know whats up on the street are controlled by people not in the know. The hard worker today seems to be fewer and fewer, too. Being proactive, subjects you to lawsuits, complaints, divorce, and an endless array of despair of fighting a losing battle. Got to love the GPS car to car stuff too. The job is now a job.

Geezus. Get off the patrol representation already. Anyone knows patrol sucks and would jump at a spot to a unit. The units are always represented because the guys in them care enough about their job to study and work hard. While there are always the merit hacks and those certain people in units that have the juice a majority are hardworking guys.

Most of the guts bitching never put forth an effort or would spend a dime up front to pay for a study group. They are open to everyone cuz u already believe in the bullshit of its rigged. If he guys who bitch all the time put as much effort into studying as they did whining and complaining they would be peonoted already.

Patrol is represented on the list as well as the d unit. So Stfu And study harder next time instead of sitting at the bar telling war stories the night before the test

You and the others brain dead who think like this are crazy, FU. If a cop bust his ass to do his job, yes a worker and a good boss recognizes him and ask him to come to a team, or unit, what that's bad so now he studies all this time and he is condemned because he came from a unit! Cop starts in 011, 015, or 007 gets shot, they look out for him and he gets into a unit, 3 years later he gets promoted by testing or merit. you than generalize. Than you are worst than IPRA's clientele. your a dog ass and want shit given to you, your the worse kind of cop.

Your such an embarrassment!

I love hearing about units. I went from a district to a unit and left the unit after 4 years and more back in a district. And that was by choice. I have no clout. I put in for it and after waiting a long while I got detailed there. I still do horrible on promotional exams and probably will never be made. My point is who cares if the new sgts come from a unit. As long as they back you up so be it. If there werent any units then you would be complaining about notall the districts were represented or something else. And having worked with guys in units I wo uld rather have one of them the some guys who went to the hole all night just to study and make sgt

WASHINGTON TIMES
Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel wastes 1.5 million dollars on Ceasefire
CHICAGO, July 28, 2012— Mayor Rahm Emanuel has proclaimed that Project Ceasefire is getting $1.5 million dollars to help reduce mounting violence on Chicago’s streets.
Mayor Rahm Emanuel proclaimed it. It shall be. It is pure boodle, graft, and boondoggle. It is a total waste of taxpayer money.
Ceasefire Director Tio Hardiman and creator Gary Slutkin M.D. are laughing all the way to the bank. Slutkin gets to donate more money to the politicians that matter to keep the scam going. Hardiman keeps getting a welfare check. Grant money is just welfare by another name.
The alleged purpose of Ceasefire is to mediate and interrupt violence, whatever that means. Ceasefire’s “Interrupters” supposedly go into neighborhoods and beg criminals not to kill people. They do not tell them to stop committing crimes, being in gangs, amassing guns, or selling drugs.
Major street gangs and the dope economy are the causes of Chicago's violence, especially the spikes in weekend summer violence. Eliminate gangs and drug dealers and those spikes will drop. So will the large amounts of weaponry on the streets. That is common sense gun control.
But then poor schmucks like Tio Hardiman would have to go out and actually work for a living instead of getting welfare.
Hardiman and his band of merry “Interrupters” walk the streets like mopes telling people “don’t shoot, don’t shoot, don’t shoot”. They might even say “please” once in a while.
It is a nice gig if you can get it. By the way did Hardiman get the name “Interrupters” from some comic book? Maybe there is an animated movie here, “Shootus Interruptus”?
Tio Hardiman blames the Chicago Police for much of the violence. He asserted the police “are too quick to pull the trigger lately”.  “You have this ‘license to kill’ mindset,” Hardiman said. “The mindset is: ‘We are going to get the crime down no matter what it takes.’ ” (Chicago Sun Times)
Those same police are now expected to work with Hardiman and his “Interrupters”.
Someone should tell Tio Hardiman that it is the job of the Chicago Police Department, and all law enforcement agencies, to get the crime down no matter what it takes. That is what policing and law enforcement is all about.
What are the police supposed to do when confronted by armed criminals?
“Excuse me “Mr. Mookie Mamaluke sir, I happen to notice you have a firearm in your hand and are pointing it at me. Will you please cease and desist pointing the gun at me, and kindly drop the weapon sir. If you do not, I will be forced to draw my own weapon forthwith from its secured holster and properly ventilate your insides.  Please, sir, don’t make me draw my weapon to use deadly force. It would be so very messy and inappropriate.”
Let’s get real. If you point a gun at the police, or refuse to drop the gun you are holding, they are going to kill you or try to. That is not a license to kill. It is justifiable homicide. Self-preservation is the highest order of nature. If you are too stupid to understand that you have no right to live.
Hardiman claimed Chicago youth are not properly trained how to deal with the police. Hmmm? Maybe he can find more grant money to teach them. It won’t change anything except the size of his bank account.
How are inner city youth supposed to deal with the police? Politely, respectfully, and by the way, leave the gun at home. Thugs of all ages would rather be disrespectful, impolite, and fight with or run from the police with their guns. Death must be a better alternative to jail.
Tio Hardiman is one of the self-promoting circus clowns and carnival barkers who use the grant system to rob, loot, and pillage the taxpayers. The media gives him undeserved credibility. Mayor Rahm Emanuel wants to pay Hardiman. The Chicago media goes hip-hip-hooray, flapping their flippers like trained seals.
Toss them some fish.
Etc...

Ok people OUT THEIR CLOUT!!

To score in the top 150 on that test you had better have a B.A. From U of C or Harvard or equivalent, right? NO?

Well, the girl that scored #1 on the sgt test....and 2 on the dicks test used to be a barmaid.

Study harder next time people

Hahahahahahah

I have news for you. I scored under 150 and I don't have either degrees you mentioned. I also used to wait tables, wash dishes, and push shopping carts at Jewel. As a matter of fact the pushing carts and moving boxes was part of my fitness program to get on the job. I will tell you how I made it under 150, but it wasn't easy. I made an agreement with my family that we would change our lifestyle a little and make the Sgt exam a team project. My new part time job was the test. For six months I studied, attended Bernstien and Roberts study groups, and lived the orders. I made flash cards, review cards, and flow charts. My wife became effectively a single parent. I studied at least 3 hours a day almost every day. I skipped ball games and twice, when I had to drive to games, sat in the car reading while my family watched. It sucked. I promised my wife and family that I would give the test 100% of my energy. I could never say I deserved it and couldn't be upset if I gave any less and didn't make it. That being said, I know a lot of great cops who felt that some extra reading and a little studying would get them under 300. They didn't make it. Congratulations to all who made it off the list.

You are right how f'd up is it when transvestites are police to begin with.

Also some names for sgt I noticed. I wouldnt say they are overly intelligent but definitely have enough to make the list on their own. People shouldnt hate for names who made it. Maybe they should test better or prepare more. I did not take this test however Im confident I would make it on my on. Any malice from people seem to be venting from their own failures in life.
My question is why would anyone want to babysit incompetent maliced p.O.s anyway? Good luck with the chevrons and all the headaches!

I scored under 200 for both the dic's and sergeant's test. The preparation for the test was somewhat similar to the above poster. I quit school for both the dic's and sergeant's test. Studied every day as he or she did and more than 3 hours on my days off. Recorded many of the orders and listened to them while driving. I would say that my intelligence is average or maybe a little above. I would not have scored well without studying hard.

The FOP is prohibited from posting the list. They can tell you where you placed but not where anyone else placed. One of the conditions the city places on it for giving the FOP the list. Transparent as the inner workings of the Daley family. As honest as Rahm's meeting with Daley and spontaneously blurting out, "Gee, if the Mayor's job were eeevvvverrr to come open, why I just might be interested."

Rigged and fixed and manipulated as hell like everything else around here.

This is what is thought of patrol these days. If you're not in a unit or on a tact team you're considered a dumb, lazy, dog ass loser by 95% of the department and we wonder why shit is all fucked up. Unless and until the city clearly defines "merit" in writing and makes the promotional process totally transparent, it's more rigged than a Madison St. three-card-Monte game--the deeply-entrenched and relentless pursuit of mediocrity ("the Chicago Way").

Perhaps it's but another outrageous manifestation of "Chicago values". Right, Rahm?

Excuse me. I've got a taste for a Chick-filet-A sandwich.

Hey you hating %#! faces I'm in a unit and I came from 011 with no clout, with over 3000 arrests and I'm not the only one. Most of the guys I work with, worked their asses off, not to kiss ass but to get court time and make money for their families. Contrary to belief, you do get recognized for hard work!!! I m on the promo list and if they make any other classes your damn right I'm gonna try for meritorious with NO CLOUT. If I don't make it oh we'll!!! Im not gonna cry and bitch about it. 8 guys that made it are from the D unit. One that I know is on the dicks list. It's no coincidence they re on both lists. It's called studying and hands on experience in hard working districts!!!

To 950 am maybe some of the hard working pos haven't had the opportunity to take a promotional test. I didn't take the sgts test and I work my ass off. My sgt tried to put me in for meritorious but I told him I wouldn't make it because I did not take the sgts test so I would not be qualified. I'm kicking myself for not taking it!!! No clout just hard work!!! I'm not whinnying about the guys who made it. Most of them deserve it. I'd love to have the Real Police (JT) as my sgt to watch out for us. I know he'll be a great sgt because he learned from a great Sgt (CI)! Congrats!!!!

Please pray!! Congrats!

Andy actually passed on sgt. The 1st time through on the test. He's smart, a good cop, & couldn't give a fuck about being a "boss". No. I'm not him, but I worked around him. Good luck finding people to talk shit about the guy, because I don't know a single person who didn't like him.

The FOP should post all the testing results just like the Fire Union LOCAL 2. I know they can't post the merit, but they can post the results of the ranking order of people who took the test.

I don't think so.. ask at the next FOP meeting . . I believe the legal agreement was to keep the list unlisted.

Mike Shields and all 9 of his friends voted for Lappe for State Lodge VP.

Kevin Graham won with 58% of the vote defeating incumbent Duckhorn (52 votes) and Lappe (10 votes).

Shields couldn't get half his board of directors to vote with him. What does that mean for negotiations?

No Confidence? Maybe Consigliere Geiger can advise. He is always full of it . . . Advice, LOL.

7/28/2012 04:23:00 PM

$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

What was most embarrassing for Mike was members of little Mike own ticket were wearing tee-shirts for the other opponent running for state wide office. Mike is in way over his head. First he is ignored in Springfield so he had to hire back the past president to get any recognition down there. And here in Chicago the press ignores him too. So Pat Camden was hired to be our face in the press. Now both of those moves were good ones. But now all the lodges around the rest of the state know that Mike is incompetent when his own people will not vote with him for the state wide fop offices.

Time for a midtern review of Mike and the rest of his ticket. I'll give that in the middle of the week.

Who ever wrote your bs regarding how hard working you guys are in units are so full of shit, yeah most had a phone call. There is so much waste and special spots in these units. If rahm wanted to put more police on the streets he needs to look at the units.
You insult patrol because your head is so full if your own bs. Most merit come from units because you have a phone call and you know it. You are not in a unit because of any special talent don't kid yourself. And I knew many who had connections get a heads up on tests. So save your bs along with your fantasy war stories for the civilians in the bars.

This is (1) thing that is wrong with this department, arrogant clouted babies who truly believe you are better than anyone else because you have a phone call and kissed ass your career.
I was in patrol, in a unit and am a white shirt by score. Most officers who work hard are in patrol, many in units have much more time to waste and do nothing. An hour of work and 2 of down time.
And here's a clue unit wonders. At the end of the day its a thankless job. At the end of the day you go home to the same neighborhood and homes and families as your counterparts in patrol and at the end of the day you are no better than the officers in patrol. And society thinks you are just as low class as the rest of us. So heros, get your heads out of the sand, and realize when mommy told you , you were special that meant only to her!

When using the Chicago version of the word "merit", I beg you to enclose it in quotation marks ("______") because it is anything but the actual dictionary definition of merit. It could best be described as "MANAGEMENT ARBITRARY DISCRETION (MAD)," more commonly known as CLOUT.

Study harder, my ass.

Your success as a proactive street cop and on a standardized intelligence test and the respect of your peers is meaningless.

7/28/2012 03:14:00 PM

Shame on you for putting the job before family

7/29/2012 09:42:00 AM
I didn't put my job before my family. WE, my family, made a decision to make a short term sacrifice for a long term gain. I don't have to work the side jobs anymore unless I WANT to, but the best part is that my family knows that there are sacrifices that have to be made to achieve goals. Don't feel sorry for my family. Plus some of those were Cubs games. So it was a win-win.

I guess if you decline a promotion once or more times for whatever the reason the city just assumes they hav the right to overpass you, without any inquiries to the promotee. Typical city do whatever whenever, and change the rules as they see fit.. And then when wrong is made right you hav sniveling lil be otches claiming someone must have made a phone call ... Like one wise man say,,, It's better to be thought a fool than open your mouth and remove all doubt......
