Nervous yet Eddie?
A federal grand jury has demanded that a City Council committee led by a powerful alderman turn over records related to a program that last year alone paid out $115 million to disabled city workers, according to documents obtained by the Tribune.
Prosecutors sent subpoenas to the Finance Committee long led by Ald. Edward Burke, 14th. The Aug. 3 request asks for access to a host of records related to the "duty disability" program.
The subpoenas were issued about one week after city Inspector General Joseph Ferguson, a former federal prosecutor, announced that Burke's committee had rebuffed his attempts to obtain many of the same records.

Gee, how many alderman were indicted, convicted and sent to prison in the past 24 years? Dozens? And how many more deserved the same treatment? Many dozens more? No wonder the City Council Crime Family doesn't want any city office, department or agency investigating them.
Must be some kind of record, the city Board of Ethics has found no evidence of corruption in 24 years in the most corrupt body of legislators in the most corrupt city in the most corrupt county in the most corrupt state in the entire United States of America.
And just wait until after the election in November, Durbin will surely nominate someone from the "old boy's club" firmly in the pocket of the Illinois Combine. It won't matter what we put into it if they don't fund it and spend it. All this is is a TAX. If there is no guarantee we get a return on our investment then it's just a tax. How could anyone be expected to trust an Illinois politician? They are the scum of the earth and holding power forever.

Whether you like him or not, Burke has taken care of a lot of full disability coppers. And not just the kind your alluding to. There were a number of seriously injured coppers over the years that Burke did PLENTY for "off the books." Never asked for any recognition but I know for a fact he took (and still takes) really good care of my former partner who was shot a number of years ago and will never walk right again. Burke was always there for him. So say what you want. The guy has stood up up for coppers in the past.
Read Bob Cooley's book When Corruption Was King. Burke is in it. Some how he survived the Gaylord

He is horsefucking everyone out of time off. Many previously approved slips were returned to PO's today. P-Day, BFD, CU, doesn't matter, approved two months ago, doesn't matter. There is an order signed by Joe Patterson that talks about the department's greatest resource and the importance of using good judgement when granting of favors, (time off)
Like going to the bank and asking for your money and being beholding to them for giving you your own money.
There will be a revolt over this. Time off for baby furloughs previously approved are being denied now piecemeal, some days approved, some denied. No recourse, absolutely NO recourse. XO Ryan will not listen to any appeals and will not read anyone's to-froms, Commander and deputy chief cannot do anything either.
This comes from acting chief of patrol Joe Patterson who no doubt gets it from McBooze.
The policy is the same all over the city I am told.
The only good thing about this job, time off, just went away. They want control over PO's and will hold you hostage over your elective time off to get it.
FOP has already filed a class action grievance over this but it sounds like Shields has other problems, like keeping employees. Sounds to me like the FOP office is in disarray.

Burke, a former policeman, bullshit!, He was on the job about twenty min., his daddy got him on a three wheeler downtown, he would write a few tickets and spent the working day in school getting a law degree on citizens time and their money. He has the balls to tell people (and real policemen) that he was actually was a policeman.
Why would anyone from area no-show go on the medical? All the ex area 4 people either have a secret take home car courtesy of the little mobster or a no show job. Little mobster lets the lts get away with not showing up who dont even know the names of there sergeants who have no idea what detectives are even working!! The City will want 5%, the union will offer zero percent, expect around 2% increase toward pensions but only if the City matches it. That would be a good thing for the pension fund. And keeping leeches out of it like exempts and the extended Daley family and friends.
Whatever the final percent is, it is pre-tax money. A three percent increase would feel more like 2%.
The retirees will thank you. You will be one yourself one day.

Burke, a former policeman, bullshit!, He was on the job about twenty min., his daddy got him on a three wheeler downtown, he would write a few tickets and spent the working day in school getting a law degree on citizens time and their money. He has the balls to tell people (and real policemen) that he was actually was a policeman.

As soon as old man Burke died sonny got in line for his dad's aldermanic seat and has had it ever since. You see, this is the United States of America where we do not have royalty who pass down their high position to their sons and daughters. It is all fair and on the up and up here.
Make all the French jokes you want but when it came time to get rid of their monarchs they chopped the royals heads right off. And their children and their cronies and anyone who had anything to do with the royals or who smiled the wrong way. In the end they beheaded anyone they damn well wanted to.
Imagine how many Daley's would have to face the guillotine if they started that here. It is a sure cure for recidivism.
Hey to all the Losers complaing about me! I am a Officer on Duty Disability I did not ask for it. I was placed on it by city docters, I miss my friends on the job. I am injured I would give anything to be back on the job. But with all the treatment and all the drugs they have me on I am not safe to work the street. I also did not get to file a workers comp claim if I did the city would have paid thru the nose. They are saving Millions of dollars by placing us on duty disability if they had to pay a workers comp claim and were sued they would spend a hell of a lot more then they are now! The city is again trying to make me look like the bad guy because I got injured in the line of duty just like they try to make all the rest of the Police and Fire look like we are the one's causing all the money problems. So dont complain about me why not complain about the Jagoff aldermen and that big Jagoff Racoon eyes..............Sorry for the long post TAKE IT OUT ON THE POLITICIANS. Not me!!!!!
