Gold Coast Murder
Not your usual murder scene:
It’s been hailed as one of the “great small hotels in the United States,” but on Monday the Gold Coast’s glitzy Whitehall Hotel found many guests shocked and others checking out as police announced it was the site of a homicide.
Housekeeping staff at the boutique hotel at 105 E. Delaware Pl. found the body of a 23-year-old Texas woman in a seventh-floor room, according to police and hotel guests.
The victim had suffered a gunshot wound to the head, police said.
“I’m scared. You don’t feel secure,” said guest Megan Cole, of Florida, as she left the Whitehall with her child in a stroller. Her family had been at the hotel three nights.

Computer kept hanging up. So I went to another district to print out what I'd done, and the printer was priting about 1 page every 2 minutes. The it stopped printing altogethere. As it was, I had to go to a meeting with 1/3 of my report printed.
Not only is our software outdated (MS Office 2003??? Are you kidding?) Computers don't recognize newer thumb drives, etc. 99% of copy machines you can't use to scan documents to a zip drive, etc.
From here on out I am documenting every single failure of eqipment and how incompatible it is with anyone else 's systems that aren't considered antiques like ours.
SERIOUSLY? WINDOWS 2003??? MS OFFICE 2003? What a piss-poor department this is. Also, no converters on most machines to read docs from a later version of office. What a FUCKING JOKE! I spent 2 hours just trying to convert docs (evidence), when I could have used that time to put my case together.
I've had it. So sorry for the rant--but is anyone else experiencing the same problems? Arggggghhhh!

1 - People who get fired are apt to make shit up to get revenge. I also read the letter - it's 5 pages of the ramblings of a woman scorned whose motives are quite clear: to make Mike Shields and your FOP look bad and to make money. Also obvious from the letter is that the secretary harbors some animosity for Mrs. Shields. No doubt they had/have some kind of relationship at one time. And we all know how catty women (and some men) can be.
2 - Judge Dave Shields is NO relation to this Shields family. Have your facts straight before you libel someone, it may save you from monetary (lawsuit) or physical (ass kicking) problems someday. People dont take kindly to being lied about and having their good name dragged thru the mud. B) The timing of this letter being distributed neatly coincides with the FOP meeting the city for contract talks which was rumored to start off on bad ground. Things that make you go hhmmmm?????

This is great!! Any time something happens in an area that is deemed "safe" it's impossible to cover up. If it was just more of a frequent occurance we could have 9.5 and Mcnutty on the ropes seriously. Got it right?? Why wasn't he charged with the murder of his buddy?? He buddy was killed by the copper while in the commission of a felony, so he should be charged..
I heard that the offender left his cell phone at the scene and she was with three other street walkers that night. Whitehall has cheap rooms on the weekends. I'd be worried about getting that same room when I bring the lady friend over for a shopping spree.

Word of advice, use OpenOffice. It is free and totally reliable. Compatible with Office 2010. It can be distributed across any network.

The pension fund is NOT where her judgement will come from. The fund isn't related to your dues or your union in any way.
Your DUES money will pay her severence package or her lawsuit settlement/judgement.

Yes the Latin Kings have moved in slowly into that neighborhood about three years ago. Every year their numbers have increased. Why not? The drug trade is quite profitable in the northwest side of Chicago. Plus the police won't bother you because the 016th district patrol officers have to cover too much territory. The 16th district tact teams are always in their 30 sector or the ghetto.

The "lauded" hotel is not an upscale hotel. It's between a Days Inn/Comfort Inn and a Hampden Inn.
Yea, it's in a upscale area near upscale hotels like the Soffitel & Sutton Place and a 5 Star place like the Waldorf (formerly Elysian). Laughable that the media can't be accurate with something so simple.
I've read that another hotel guest heard what sounded like a shot. Who doesn't report that at the time it happens?
At least the other guests statement gives investigators a window of time for which to review building/parking/ATM video available in the area.
There's a good chance the CPD is going to find this guy or woman.

The CPD did an amazing job tracking down a guy who was a John that a prostitute began a personal relationship with and he hustled her by duping her in to believing he could refinance the mortgage on the condo she litterally worked her ass off to buy.
That tradgedy had as happy ending as could be expected in so far as the CPD pursued the guy till they could get a warrant and when they came knocking on his door, the guy shot himself.

Why do you think he didn't harass her? The letter to the board was to initiate settlement from people whom she respected. Now that she knows they sell their souls for $600 per month, the complaint she files will have a lot more detail.
