No, not the parade. That was pretty much as it always is - disorganized, late, overwrought, etc.
We're talking about the complete disregard for the posted order. It read how "administrative personnel" were supposed to be utilized for the District draw (how many officers each District sent to the parade excluding tactical teams). In fact, this was why all house mice were placed into either Friday/Saturday or Sunday/Monday day off groups - to use them for parades, details and special events. McCarthy even said he didn't care if the paperwork stacked up, officers were going to be on the street if needed.
But low and behold, many Districts ended up sending extra watch officers to satisfy the District draw since the administrative personnel were granted elective time off with astonishingly little notice or static from downtown.

I am still waiting for my face to face relief at the lost children tent.
The house mice in units are allowed to take time for ALL the weekend details in the busy summer season. Not just for Bud Billiken, but for any event in which they will have to work more than four or five hours. Oh, the humanity! They have to work six hours of an eight hour tour!

Hey SCC, how bout this one. Our district, had to borrow a sgt from another district because several sgts put in slips. I can get a day for shit, but the district can borrow sgts.......WTF!?!?!?!?!?

In 013 we have a officer who is 1 of 3 p.os that sits in the time keepers office while we only have 4 cars working on days well J.C you lost a lot of respect for the shit you pulled with bud biliken what the fuck happened to you. I would say I'm surprised the commander let you get away with it, but between you and K.C. Walking around with his cubs jersey doing nothing but changing the stats for compstat I'm not surprised.

On zone 1 the dispatcher assigned a shoplifting job to a tac team in 017. 1761c refused to go and stated" we don't do shoplifters....." the dispatcher stated 017 was in a backlog and she needed to get the job out. She asked 1761c " are you refusing to take the job". The response a plain and simple "yes". No supervisor came up. No one ordered them to take their assigned job. My partner and I immeditely started compiling a list of jobs we don't want to do either. We are trying to figure which supervisor we should give it to in 016..... After all if some 5 yr hair gel wonder can decide which jobs they deem worthy of responding too maybe we should too.. Any openings in 017??? My partner and I were so shocked we almost hit a train.....but we won't go there
Don't know if Academy personnel were utilized for some other event but they WERE NOT used for Bud.

Yes of course commander Pena in 010 sent only officers from the watch, must be nice to be one of her suck holes and have they day off. It's funny how some of her staff doesn't have enough time to make bid on 1st watch but can get the bud off! Wonder why the chosen 12 PO's had to sell to get their spots, if you like following orders so much, quit hiding people you merit hack! Follow the order that cut the admin staff!!! Send them back to watch and let em answer jobs and help us out a bit! You should be fired for not following direct orders! O yea, guess it was XO White's decision since Pena was off again! Ya what bullshit we had 5 down cars on busy Saturday night so the same people can keep taking off saturdays and the others who are afraid to work take off. Lucky none of us got hurt last night with Market days going on, The biggest street fest in the city plus Retro on Roscoe plus a Cubs game earlier. What total bullshit, why do they not have to work when we all come in and have to work short cars handling non stop jobs. Thanks everybody were one big family

As I asked in a different thread -- If all of those 8 officers wanted time due, would it have been granted, or denied due to 'manpower'? After all, they weren't in the district preventing crime.
All overtime for bud was captured under a special event number, which means money comes out of a different pocket. That being said, why wasn't bud an overtime initiative?
Speaking of overtime initiatives, the ON duty personnel assigned to BHO today (several from each district), are also being paid for out of a different pocket. So 3 PO's from our district sent to BHO and someone else is picking up the tab for those 3 officers. Hey since they are getting the $$$ why isn't this an off duty gig?

Just because they weren't in WWII, Korea (yeah, you forgot that one) or "The Nam" doesn't mean we didn't do our time. Keep your bullshit to yourself. Yes they were. Look at the order under ADMINISTRATIVE PERSONNEL WILL BE UTILIZED FOR THIS DETAIL.
Just because it isn't spelled out for you like from this unit and that unit, Academy personnel are utilized under the Seasonal Deployment Personnel.
Rahmballina , take away all the exempt rank and unit co's sworn gun carrying secretaries and you could man a specialized cw unit.
Replace sworn gun totin office workers with civilians at half the pay . It's a win win , more officers in patrol and new jobs for civilians.

Regarding 1761c refusing to take a shoplifter, I guess you could say that its the supervisor's job to order 1761c not to refuse. No matter though really. That notification is supposed to go straight up to the 1st deputy's office, and its been that way for decades. The entire district system is built with the understanding that nobody on a district radio car is authorized to refuse an assignment, though a supervisor can order that some assignments be held.
Gotta wonder if that notification was even made. Theoretically its supposed to result in all sorts of holy hell.

To the original poster from 016 regarding 1761C...You must have missed the first half of the radio transmission from 1761C. The dispatcher asked if he was available for a shoplifter and he related "No, we are on a narcotics investigation." Then the onslaught began between the dispatcher and the twenty year veteran who works 1761C. If you are such a great policeman, you possess tne knowledge to check the activity 1761c generates as well as their team. The numbers don't lie. They do a lot of good work on the 1761 Team and a lot of search warrants which are the result of "Narcotics Investigations." You are probably the same numb nuts copper who puts up negative posts regarding coppers not doing enough investigating prior to executing a search warrant.

I work at the Training Division. I'm off Sunday-Monday. I was at Biliken parade on Saturday. I've been there 17 times in 27 years. So go fuck yourself.
