Cover for the Clouted
When Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel holds a news conference, Gene McNeil is the city employee who makes sure the sound system runs smooth.
But the veteran city employee was a little too smooth with the ladies, police reports indicate.
McNeil was arrested twice since 2005 for allegedly soliciting undercover cops who were posing as prostitutes. One of those arrests came while he was on the clock for taxpayers, he acknowledged.
McNeil, 55, was not convicted in either case; the arresting officers for some reason didn’t show up, so the cases were thrown out, court records show.
Anyone want to bet as to why the Officer didn't show up? Rahm, of course, didn't know anything and retreats behind a protective curtain of bullshit:
- When asked about McNeil, an Emanuel press aide said this was the first she heard of his troubles. But within an hour, word came down that McNeil was being transferred to other duties, at least for the time being.

Make no mistake this is a plum assignment. McNeil is heavily clouted to get on this detail, with access to the Mayor and on the day shift.

I was whistled in by a big boss many years ago to make a case go away--I was young and didn't know better, and went along with the plan.
Now I know better. If that ever happens, make sure you document who called you in, and what was said, immediately. Put it in a word document so it's time/date stamped.
If you're in a position where you feel you have to go along, send that doc to numerous people you trust. Because if the shit ever hits the fan, whoever gave you the nod to do 'whatever' will throw you under the bus in a heartbeat.

Really? Try this on many cepartments in other cities or in the suburbs and see what happens. A criminal case is dismissed because the arresting officer did not show up in court, and for a case that involves someone clouted. This smacks of corruption not just someone who overslept through his/her alarm clock. Many cases are dismissed because the officers fail to show in court. It makes the department look bad
