Another Shooting; Gunman Killed
Englewood:
- A Chicago police officer shot and killed a gunman who opened fire on two other people, and possibly other officers, this morning in the South Side's West Englewood neighborhood, authorities said.
No officers were hurt and one person was being questioned by authorities in the shooting that happened about 11:30 a.m. near 63rd Street and Honore Street.
According to preliminary information from law enforcement sources, a narcotics unit officer on surveillance in the area saw the gunman open fire on at least two other people across a vacant lot.
The officer responded to the shooting, announced his office and told the gunman to drop his weapon, sources said. The gunman kept firing, prompting the officer to shoot and kill the gunman, sources said.
Hopefully, this didn't interfere with today's CompStat meeting!

The media has someone saying that the officer did not announce his office. Does that really matter when the gunman is shooting up the neighborhood? It's ok as long as the shooter is not the police, I guess. Tells you a little something about the behavior and what is considered acceptable. What about the rights of citizens, some of whom are stuck in a bad neighborhood? Do they not have a right to defend themselves?

Just saw it on the channel 5 news. The reporter made some pretty slanted remarks. First there was the "police aren't giving us a whole heck of a lot of information." first it happened a few hours ago and it's an investigation. Instead of reporting false facts the police dept will investigate the matter. Unlike the mutt you put on t.v. Who has the IQ of a fly. And the second comment was about not knowing what a narcotics officer was doing in that area at that time. Guess what your not suppose to know. And apparently he/she was in the right place at the right time. Stupid media! Glad to hear that the "tax paying" police officer did not get shot. Stay safe all.

Gee whiz, according to these charts and graphs in this story homicides should be down to under about 300 per year and sworn officers below 10,000 in the sanctuary city.
You'll notice that the raw data ends at 2010 though.

The city also had the highest murder rate: 15 homicides per 100,000 residents in 2010. Next was Houston (13), Los Angeles and Phoenix (both 8), and New York (7).

At least one media outlet made it clear that the officer "announced his office" before firing and killing the offender. That would be the Trib....amazing that they got that part right. But who really cares. He was an officer! He saw shots being fired and took action!

You don't have to announce your office in those circumstances. But leave it to criminal media to think we have to put ourselves in harms way just to make it a fair gunfight.

First let me clarify some things with this comment. Sgt DM was on HBT prior to SWAT. He never made it on SWAT. He bad mouth all the officers who tried out for SWAT. Only because his FAT ASS could not pass the physical and his dad could not get him assigned there.
He then leached on to Lt. MM and became his best friend by kissing his ass and sucking up to him. The Lt. rewarded him by assigning him as the lead negotiator to SWAT after Sgt. DA' retired. Even after Sgt DA recommeded another person for the position but was ignored.
The story about his injury is he broke his hand playing hockey and came into work the next day and claimed to be IOD while lifting something. Sgt DM has been a useless piece of S@#T since the begining. Definitely an abuser and merit Sgt!
