Where Has CeaseFire Been?

Nearly 30 shot this weekend and it turns CeaseFire hasn't even been around all month:
  • A new pilot program that calls for the anti-violence group CeaseFire to partner with the Chicago Police Department in curbing violent crime has struggled to take shape this summer, the group said Monday, because the organization didn't have assurances that its workers would not act as informants for criminal investigations.

It wasn't until Aug. 7, about a month after the pilot program was to have started, that both sides officially agreed in a memorandum of understanding that CeaseFire's "violence interrupters" and other workers would not be required to serve as police informants, according to the group executive director, Tio Hardiman.

"You have enough confidential informants. You don't need CeaseFire in that role," Hardiman said of the police. "The police are doing the lion's share of the work, but at the end of the day we're playing a valuable role."

Nothing about being good citizens or maybe helping grieving families see justice done for their murdered loved ones. Nope, they just don't want to be snitches.

It also turns out that CeaseFire won't even be in action until the end of August, so McFootInMouth better keep hoping the August numbers don't keep climbing (though it seems a foregone conclusion at this point).

A Illinois audit of CeaseFire revealed it's shady dealings with money.

Gary Slutkin pays himself close to $200K annually for this charade

Slutkin has been donating hundreds/thousands for the last decade to the IL political machine

For his part, Tio gets $110K annually to pimp the program

YES, CeaseFire is about "interrupting" the violence, OR at least interrupting the tax money flow into their pockets

So what you're telling us here is that Cease Fire has basically been granted immunity from prosecution should they become aware of a crime?! I mean in the past if you knew of a crime and did not report it that made you an accomplice right?

Furthermore, the real kicker here is that Cease Fire will be hiring 24 people to put them into a lousy 40 hour training class that will make them experts at violence interruption??

Oh please!!! Millions of dollars for this? A 40 hour training class of ex-cons. TO borrow an SCC phrase unfuckingbelievable.

Ceasefire has worked hard this summer and now since the weather has turned nice they are allowed to take time due. Most of us ceasefire workers need a break from preventing so many homicides. Superintendent McCarthy appreciates the work we have done so far, so we now can get 4-5 days off in a row.

we are just going to have to wait till next summer for to see them in action...

but then why were they claiming they had "interfered" with that "savage" that had shot those two girls down in area south.

CeaseFire has their seed money.

No need to do annnnnything until there is more money. If any good happens take credit; any bad they were never there because they were not given enough funds to be there.

Maybe around election time when Rahm and BHO need them as doorbell ringers and voter intimidators, errr persuaders they will show up after another payday.

P.S. Story in the Sun-Times, Alderman Carrie Austin wants Fruits of Islam patrolling her ward. Hey Carrie, were you one of the Aldermen who complained to McDufass that he wasn’t hiring enough cops; then heard that McDufass slammed the District Commander there for letting the Alderman in on that dirty little secret?

Fast and Furious is not what you think?

This pending court case against Zambada-Niebla is being closely monitored by some members of Congress, who expect potential legal ramifications if any of his claims are substantiated. The trial was delayed but is now scheduled to begin on Oct. 9.

Zambada-Niebla is reportedly a close associate of Sinaloa Cartel kingpin Joaquin “El Chapo” Guzman and the son of Ismael “Mayo” Zambada-Garcia, both of which remain fugitives, likely because of the deal made with the DEA, federal court documents allege.

Based on the alleged agreement ”the Sinaloa Cartel under the leadership of defendant’s father, Ismael Zambada-Niebla and ‘Chapo’ Guzman, were given carte blanche to continue to smuggle tons of illicit drugs into Chicago and the rest of the United States and were also protected by the United States government from arrest and prosecution in return for providing information against rival cartels which helped Mexican and United States authorities capture or kill thousands of rival cartel members,” states a motion for discovery filed in U.S. District Court by Zambada-Niebla’s attorney in July 2011.

They were not going to get their "feet" wet in July and August given the upward trend in violance.

OK. Unless I hear otherwise from "official sources," I will proceed with the assumption that Corey Hardiman, this sudden new arrival on the extremely crowded "anti-violence" stage, is the son of CeaseFire "director" Tio Hardiman. The total silence in the news media would seem to confirm this.

Why so shy, so coy? Something is wrong, huh? You'd think they'd be PROUD of the association with CeaseFire -- or is a cloud cast by the great volume of materal available on this organization's dirty dealings?

"[Dr. Gary] Slutkin has been very adept at marginalizing critics of the project and framing the loss of state funding in the context of the budget crisis...Ceasefire lost its State funding because of the highly questionable financial dealings it engaged in, not because of State politics."

http://www.chicagojustice.org/blog/the-audit-of-ceasefire-part-i-in-a-series

Anyway, it's become the Hardiman family business -- here is the second generation of T-shirt-ball-cap-and-bullhorn "community activists," stretching its wings.

WBBM's John Cody did play on the air a sound bite of a Hardiman supporter "talking in tongues," as Cody put it. It was just random words and sounds strung together - but loudly, which is all that counts today. What a trip.

Thanks to Rahm Emanuel for helping to further the delusion that the flow of tax money for this sort of nonsense is inexhaustible.

This cannot hurt Emanuel. Not much can. He is a wealthy man with no soul and no shame. Presidency, Schmesidency.

If he doesn't gain the White House, he and the terrible anti-human animus which drives such people will simply do even more damage, working 24/7 on the boards of three dozen NGOs, exhibiting his dentition for the camera at various "luncheons" and "conferences" advancing Inner Party interests and destructive social engineering.

Who pays for these people's medical, etc. if they get blasted, stabbed, run over?

What liability insurance does CF carry? They are marching people into the most volatile street situations imaginable, seeking out to mess with the most dangerous criminals, all hoppity-poppity and ready to shoot anything, with only 40 hours of some BS "training!"

...or at least they say so. Is it really that everyone on that corner is on the same page? Down wid it? Huh? Does that explain the apparent miraculous high survival rate here on getting in other people's face?

Like the "40 hours" of vo-tech I saw that's maybe half an hour a day and the instructor drinks and gets high with the class out next to the building the rest of the day. "Diploma" an inside joke with these operations. Everyone gettin' over, that the rule.

One of these "interrupters" gets interrupted, we have to pay out the Ghetto Lottery to his 57-member extended family? "City never should a let Marcus out there like that! They know these people dangerous!"

*

Whose fault is it if the block gets escalated, instigated instead, and blows up real good? "City send these ignant T-shirt m___f__ers around stick they nose in bidness! Now my chile in the hoxpital!"

If they will beat a policeman near to death for NOT running over their kid, THEY WILL DO AND SAY ABSOLUTELY ANYTHING. EVERYONE HERE KNOWS THIS. You can hear it already.

WHAT THE HELL ARE THE JOB QUALIFICATIONS? Looks to me like the more of an active gang member you are yourself, the better your chances would be.

This is an endless, bottomless can of legal worms, really unbelievable.

What was that we heard already about someone trying to whack Tio Hardiman's son? Anyone?

I see nothing but more trouble here.

As soon as the nurse walked into the room her first question was " Sir would you like to talk to a Ceasefire Interruptor". United States federal law

"Misprision of felony" is still an offense under United States federal law after being codified in 1909 under 18 U.S.C. § 4:
Whoever, having knowledge of the actual commission of a felony cognizable by a court of the United States, conceals and does not as soon as possible make known the same to some judge or other person in civil or military authority under the United States, shall be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than three years, or both.
This offense, however, requires active concealment of a known felony rather than merely failing to report it

CPD saw store videotapes and recognized Robinson because of his green and white striped shirt. Same shirt on in the robbery, same shirt when he was arrested.

The One Shirt Bandit.

Future? Slippery top bunk in IDOC. Yell, braid hair, watch BET, trade pack of noodles for pack of noodles. Play ball. Fight once in a while. Years of this. That is the scene.

Not good, you or I would say, except it is not so different from daily life when you came up in a house with 12 or 14 others, variable babydaddies coming in and out, lack of direction, frightening, violent adult conflicts going on, etc. Actually institution is safer and more orderly, more structured a lot of the time.

Some real bad, kill you in a heartbeat. Some could go either way, and some good potential intellects, caught up in the grinder.

Just reflecting while I ice down my knee. Owwwwwww. Dammit.

Give us the strength and the understanding of others to be able to lead forward when all around there is danger. "A rock to stand on that will not fail you."

...and always watch behind you...

Still looking for up to four more on that Cicero job.

Look at how fast Cease Fire got their contract settled!! Maybe the FOP should take one of their 40 hour courses on contract negotiations?

" I will proceed with the assumption that Corey Hardiman, this sudden new arrival on the extremely crowded "anti-violence" stage, is the son of CeaseFire "director" Tio Hardiman."

Assumption incorrect. Corey Hardiman is not the son of Tio Hardiman.

They haven't even hired the "interrupters" yet.

What the hell can be the "job qualifications" for something like this? I can hear the interview now.

"Who you ride wit. Uh huh. Uh huh.

"You 'member Teabag?"

Assertion correct.

"Corey Hardiman was born on March 24, 1991 to Michael Hardiman and Latisa Rice-Sheriff at Roseland Community Hospital."

"Corey Hardiman overcame the absence of his incarcerated father, and a struggling Chicago school to win the Gates Millennium Scholarship.."

OK.

There is a Michael Hardiman, age 23, possibly still in CCJ, arrested mid-July on assault charges. Mm. Family member?

As time permits...

So, if I understand a previous poster correctly, if - god forbid - a copper gets shot by a POS gangbanger, a nurse at the hospital is supposed to ask the officer if he or she wants "a Ceasefire Interrupter"? What-the-fuck?! Why, to prevent retaliation by the officers friends against the gang that shot him? There'd fucking better be retaliation.

Would you consider a gang member a terrorist? With that said if a large amount of cease fire organizational staff members are current or former gang members would you not consider that a terrorist organization? Why the hell would the city want to fund such an organization? Great job rahm another great idea..

Could someone at the FOP please tell the membership how much we pay Paul Geiger and how much does his law firm earn from the FOP members? Geiger,Licari & Dahms. I'll sit down and listen to the answer. Thanks.

""Misprision of felony" is still an offense under United States federal law after being codified in 1909 under 18 U.S.C. § 4:
Whoever, having knowledge of the actual commission of a felony cognizable by a court of the United States, conceals and does not as soon as possible make known the same to some judge or other person in civil or military authority under the United States, shall be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than three years, or both.

"This offense, however, requires active concealment of a known felony rather than merely failing to report it."

Thank you!

Down at the less rarefied state level we got "Obstruction Of Justice." Judges downstate hand this out like popcorn, up here they don't seem to know what it is.
