Academy Class Starts - Yesterday?
On a holiday Saturday?
- SCC, they started a class as the Academy today. 100 recruits.
We checked - it appears to be true. Ladner must be desperate to keeps Rahm's promise of 500 by the end of the year.

Yes true. Started on Saturday, off Sunday and Monday resume class Tuesday through Friday. They get in their 5days a week without paying holiday pay.
Why isn't anyone taking about the games Ladner is playing with military applicants. She is "holding them on the side" for some odd reason. Let's talk about the other trick she pulled where she bumped applicants off the list because their "notification" went into their spam folder. She knew that was an issue last year when they couldn't get Detention Aids to show up for the interviews. When they realized what happened they sent out letters and even went so far as to have beat cars go and ring doorbells to notify them.
The scandalous part is the ones she's bumping off the list are mostly m/2's some who have even served in Iraq and Afganistan. She is a hater from way back and I guess it's her way to "level the playing field" as she calls it.

More than half the 9000+ people on the list did not show up for the POWER test because the notifications went to their "Spam mail".
Ladner is under pressure from 9.5 to get 500 bodies in for the year.
Hopefully Obama will lose on 6 November and Ladner will get dumped.
Rumors say she is connected to Michelle Obama.

100 eh? Spread out to how many districts? 25? No.....021 closed. 24 then. Well, by the time they hit the streets, 013 will cease to exist. So that drops it to 23. So if no more consolidation occurs that will give each district about 4 extra bodies to spread out over 3 watches.

Academy knew they were getting recruits, just not how many.
Had it originally set for three homerooms with three HRI's but not enough recruits sent for three homerooms.
Those were candidates/testers there on Sat for pre-hire testing only.
Yes, the testing process is screwed up.
EVERYTHING Ladner has her hand in is screwed up.
Why does the department put up with her, she's a throw off from the Daley era.
Just get rid of her and hire someone to professionally run HR.

the whole thing is laughable,by the time they graduate more will have retired. all the money rahm will be saving will be for teachers contract. if the safety of the children was important, 50 would not be going to the convention. but we all know whos important. rahm thinks his speech is the one that will get potus reelected. if he loses any votes it will be because there are all shot, due to inept leadership.

Wow! 65 recruits. It will only be another year and a half before they can somewhat function on their own. In the mean time we have about 30-60 officers retiring on a monthly basis. These fools in charge really must have been sleeping during 1st grade math class. What they really need to do is fill that fucking academy up with recruits until it's overflowing and then keep it that way before it's too fucking late.

Ahh, even though I'm a Wiley vet in the KMA club and putting papers in soon, I still remember the old academy/recruit days like it was yesterday! Instructors gung ho!, recruits including myself wet behind ears soaking up every word! Best of luck to u all! Gods speed!

If true, this is a MAJOR federal law violation that the city will LOSE in court. Vets are a protected minority and potential employers or current employers cannot discriminate against them!

i just got an email notification to show up on the 8th for my second power test. seems that that's a sign that another class is forthcoming? i already did the first power test, psych exam, written evals, drug test, home interview, etc. anything left after the 2nd power test?
The class started on Friday - not Saturday. It's not 100 recruits but 55. There was a psych test on Saturday in the academy and some people were there from 0730 until 2000!!! I heard it was a fucking disaster from beginning to end.
I wish they would start a laterall program or atleast give preference to sworn cops for hiring. CPD needs cops so why not get them on the street ASAP. Do a shortened 6 week academy for lateralls.
Any idea what number they are up to? Im at 6000+....guess I will have to wait another 3 years

That means they've never interviewed for a job or promotion at Aviation. Every cycle there is a do-over or fuck up of some sort.
Good luck with that. This job blows more than ever now. Bet those poor recruits don't realize they have been tricked- when I signed up for the position of Police Officer, I didn't know that was the medieval equivalent to an indentured servant.

No a class did not start saturday. I was there, it was the written psych exam portion for almost 600 people. I did hear an academy started friday though. I believe this is so Rahm can say 2 classes started in August.
Once again SCC you were had. A class of 55 recruits started on Friday 31 August 2012. 40 males and 15 females.
Saturday was the Phyc test. 400 people were invited to take it.

Detroit seems so much closer now doesn't it.
I have a neighbor (M/2) who is a former marine with a masters degree. He is frustrated as his notifications have gone to spam and they keep telling him to produce his FOID card----he has done this three times.

CLASS ACTION lawsuit. If she has created a separate class by excluding them, they have standing.
Class of 50 something started FRIDAY 31AUG12. 600 people took the psych on Saturday 01SEP12, and got appointments to finish the rest of the process throughout September and some in October. They are rushing through it.
I am told there already is an investigation into Ladner's biased ways. The results of that confidential can't come soon enough.

You're really up to date. Lodding is a Deputy Chief now, not an ADS and you're probably one of the first DOGS he launched when he got there. No; you can't go back either. You're a moron.
Please bring back Gary S. Gary is a former marine who ran the academy and provided real training. It can be accomished without great expense. On that note, the FBI should investigate Ladner for her ways. Our vets should be considered protected people. Regardless of the color of ones skin.
Cooter will welcome the newbies to the gym.

The best thing that could happen to a young, talented, well educated, hard working applicant is not being hired by the Chicago Police Department.
Think about it, would you want anyone you care about coming on this job? I wouldn't. I am leaving on Nov 15, thank God, and cannot in good conscience recommend this job to anyone.
I welcome all these new recruits coming in. Now they need to start opening up some bids to other districts and send these new guys to training districts..

The first time you hear from CPD after the written test is an email to take a power test after you pass that weeks or months later you get the emails for BI, psych, medical, and poly once all that is done you get a call for a second power test that happens about a week or two before you get hired.

Someone needs to notify the US attorney's office if the city is messing with military vets as a class. The US attorney or US defense dept takes seriously discrimination against vets either as new applicants or in the case of reservists as individuals returning prior deployment civilian jobs. The city is about to get violently fucked in the legal sense of things if it is discriminating against vet

Well we know the city isn't broke since Tiny Dancer has 50 million dollars to build Maggie Daley park. That means we should get a nice raise when they get around to negotiating our contract in a few more years and the teacher's strike should be averted.

if by working with the unions you mean giveways that the city could not afford long term, you may have a point. daley was willing to mortgage the city into a huge hole to benefit himself and his cronies. and they benefited handsomely. anyone associated with the city in an employment capacity (including retired)or just living in the city is going to pay big time for what daley did.

A gold star was quoted as saying that there are people out there who, because of their drug usage, believe that no one will believe them if they say they never used drugs, and actually admit to past usage. This utterly dumbfounded him. That was a real tip and clue for this stoner. No mushrooms, acid, hash, reefer, peyote, morning glory seeds, synthetics ,black beauties, etc. ad nauseam. I not only didn't inhale it, I never toked it; Hell I didn't know it existed. Had a good ride before the job, during the job and the same while well into my retirement. Who woulda thunk? There are probably some who read this blog that would/could, put two and two together but I don't know nuttin!

In the mid 1980's a woman in the application phase admitted to recreational cocaine use but said she would stop if hired. She was bounced out of the process and hired a lawyer I knew to get her back in the process and to try to force the department to hire her. She failed. Things like that just amazed me. One guy tossed out of the process for admitting marijuana use could not believe that there was anyone who never used drugs in their lives. In his world there wasn't.
SCC - does anyone have more info regarding the fact HR is putting vets on the side? How true is that scuttlebutt? I know a few vets hung up in the process that should've been put through already. This needs to be brought to SOMEONE'S attention!

The list has 6,428 on it. They have sent out power test letters to 5,200. You are correct the remaining 1200 will go out in a few weeks.
