Media Chugs More Rahm Kool-Aid

If you had a slam dunk case, if you were 100% in the right, if you had the backing of the law beyond even a shadow of a doubt, would you sit around and make noise about it or would you be in front of a judge to get your position enforced as soon as humanly possible?

And if you were among the more powerful politicians in the region, wouldn't you find yourself a tame judge, probably a judge you slated for election, and make sure that they ruled your way? After all, this is Chicago, Cook County, Illinois, right?
  • There is a new state law in place that Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel says bans teachers from striking for anything other than compensation. Emanuel says the two issues remaining on the table have nothing to do with that, raising the question: is this a legal strike?

Mayor Emanuel has repeatedly made the statement that the teachers union is conducting a strike of choice, and that teachers are striking over two items that are not subject to a job action under current Illinois law.

Emanuel says the law states teachers may strike only because of compensation, and according to the mayor, neither of the disputed contract items involve pay or benefits.
Rahm throws this bullshit out there and Chuck Goudie is in line to guzzle it up and attempt to de-legitimize the Teachers' Strike. Here's where you know that Rahm is completely full of crap:
  • Monday, the I-Team asked Mayor Emanuel whether he would order city attorneys to court, challenge the strike as illegal and ask that teachers be ordered back to work. A spokesperson for the mayor late Monday afternoon said, his "first priority -- as it has been all along -- is to have the negotiating team meeting with the union rather than meeting with a judge."

Teachers union attorney Robert Bloch says some issues that are subject to collective bargaining are not shrinkable, but he reiterates teachers are currently within the law in what they are striking for.

Mayor Emanuel continues to disagree. However, he seems intent on working this out at the table, not in the courtroom.
He disagrees out loud, but his actions belie someone who knows exactly what the law says and knows he hasn't got anything close to a valid standing in the courts.

Just because Rahm keeps saying it doesn't make it true, but Channel 7, along with the Sun Times, are publishing so much slanted crap already this week, it's sickening.

I like how about a week ago Karen Lewis told the press that Rahm was a liar.
When a reporter asked the mayor if he lied his respose was
"This isn't about me & Ms. Lewis" Man the P.O.S. can't even answer the question because he knows that he is nothing but a "LYING P.O.S."
He has been lying to the people of chicago since the day that he announced that he was running for mayor.

Now, I understand some of questions thrown at the CTU president Sunday night during her live press conference. The media trying to goad her into giving a reason for the strike that is not allowed.

Rahm,

You reneged on the 4% raise the CTU employees had won. You broke a contract that literally took money out of people's pockets and food off their tables. You fucked with people's families. That was your first big mistake.

You motherfucked Karen Lewis when it wasn't necessary. This was your second big mistake. Her referring to you as a "bully" is the perfect descriptor.

You tried to circumvent the system by spearheading the movement to introduce a law requiring a 75% authorization to call a strike. The CTU responded in force, shoving it right up your ass. Strike three.

Now you're mounting another feeble attempt to get your way? Fuck off already. You made your bed, now it's time to sleep in it. Time to pay the piper, Ballerino. Your bluff is played out.

Without detailing every pet project you've announced since winning an election you should've never been allowed by law to run, it's obvious there's more than enough money in the city's coffers. You know, to meet obligations mandated by law and agreed upon and arbitrated into contracts. Those pesky little things like funding various pensions and wage increases won through collective bargaining agreements.

Your novelty is quickly wearing thin, Tiny Dancer. There's a lot of Sheeple that voted for you that are kicking themselves in the ass now that your true colors are on display. And while they can't take back their vote, they can chant, protest, ridicule, strike and help educate a naive public on just what a jagoff Rahm Emanuel is.

They've got your number - they know it's absolutely killing you to be in the national spotlight outed as the miserable failure that we civil servants know you are. To many people, seeing you slowly crucified in the hot seat is worth more than any 4% raise. And giving statements surrounded by Hispanic kids (I'm sure Alderwhore Brookins appreciated that) while mispronouncing the names of a couple of schools just reaffirms how out of touch with reality you truly are.

I toast what I hope is just the start of a long and painful political demise for Rahm Emanuel. Thank you, CTU, for knocking the tyrant down a few pegs.

I was watching the fox "news" @ 9just to see what they were saying about the strike and saw something that the clueless media whores obviously missed. It was a taped segment (so they could have cut it if they wanted to) and they were interviewing a family at their house. There were kids sitting on the porch behind the parent and a kid of probably 12 years old flashed a quick gang sign. But everything is the teachers fault.... rrriight...

The larger problem is that the little North Shore Shit-Ass, for reasons known only to him, Almighty God and Lucifer who was cast from Heaven and damned to be Satan; fancies himself to be THE smartest motherfucker to ever shit between two shoes...

We laugh because it looks like the North Shore Shit-Ass has finally outsmarted himself as one of the elder subject matter experts emeriti predicted.

(Good call Boss... Sooner than expected though!)

To hint or better still say out loud that Rahm Emanuel is a very deeply disturbed individual is a universally understood understatement.

Heh... We'll have to dig deep and find our doubly dog-eared copy of Dr. Hervey Cleckley's "Mask of Sanity" (fairly dry reading but entertaining as hell to us Police-y type people) so that we can dope the windage, elevation etc. so as to fire for effect as to what truly ails this deeply afflicted half a man who revels in paining others with his peculiar gift of affliction and misery.

Our jaundiced eye measure of this little Boris Karloff/Creature Feature looking muthafuckah?

Classic case of little ignored man grows up to power. "I'll make them pay for what they did to me when I grow up"

Strong animus/hatred is a prime mover/motivator.

Socially inept in youth and young adulthood.

Frustration/fear/anger/anxiety issues regarding intimacy and familial relations.

Frightfully insecure/control freak who has risen to power.

Will do what he deems necessary to hold on to that power.

Inability to delegate/trust his subordinates. Picks those subordinates according to the Peter Principle.

He picks subordinates he has pre-destined to fail according to his purpose because HE is the only one worthy of staying in place.

And that's just looking at him through the filter of having a hard walk in life and working many years on a shit doo-doo job that everybody and their uncle's daddy rotates their funky dentures that they can do better for double the hours, half the pay and twice the sheer joy of being intentionally walked backwards to the 19th Century for politics and pure spite...

You joyfully hating shit-talkers are so full, if you bite your tongues you'll die of a ghastly infection.

All the lime Kool-Aid made with Rahm piss you whores guzzle, won't help...

May the teachers knock the top two layers of skin off his narrow ass for picking a very unnecessary fight... Couldn't happen to a nicer guy...

Shit-Talking while alley-fighting means somebody gets caught with their mouth open and has their jaw busted into bone meal.

Karen Lewis caught Rahm like a muthafuckin' boss...

Typical shit-ass... Rahm tried to get others to pin the teachers arms behind their backs so they couldn't fight him back.

Slightly O/T...

Scum-Times has an article regarding a problem with the roll out in early 2013 with the school zone speed cameras.

A quirk in the law dictates that a child must be present before enforcement action can be taken.

...Of course that's what the school zone signage says... "When Children Are Present."

It look like Rahm's big grab into the taxpayers sore pockets will net him a hand full of hot greasy shit.

*Jackpot! I gotcho pockets bitch! >GRAB!< GAAAAHHHH! This ain't money! >sniff!< IT'S SHIIIIIT!*

The city is telling potential bidders to "do the best they can" to come up with technology to take a photograph that would record a vehicle and a pedestrian clearly identifiable as a child within such proximity as to constitute a clear violation.

"Uhh... we might need human review... Uhh... It's a big problem..." Uhh... WTF?

Plus, why wouldn't the teachers just change their minds about the "agreement" on compensation? As soon as they do that - as soon as they say they want more money - well, it's once again a legal strike.

CPS contract translated to CPD terms

1. Your performance evaluation will be tied to your raise and will be conducted by your Commander and will be based on large part on crime stats on your beat.

2. If they close your district you will be laid off unless another Coomander specifically requests you be assigned to a vacancy in his District. The Department can continue to hire PPO's after you're laid off

If that sounds wrong to you then support the teachers.

More people are against the teachers than with them and it has nothing to do with the mayor. The demand for control of teacher evaluations is because too many teachers are unqualified and can not pass skills tests because unqualified teachers taught them. They can break the cycle by taking classes to improve their skills but they are too lazy.

Rahman needs to fire those horrible teachers and start fresh with teachers who care about thebkids. When the teachers are the highest paid in the country at $76k plus benefits for 9 months of work he 80% of 8th graders can't read, we have a problem. Chicago is bankrupt and the CTU is a big part of the problem. If the teachers don't like it, they are free to look for work elsewhere.

Look at this krap.

"With $114 million, Obama just out raises Romney in August"

What are we going to do with that $114 million? They are going to buy advertising that will tell you the GOP are idiots like the GOP will use their money to tell you that the liberal democrats are idiots.

The spent money will be counted as growth in the nations GDP which implies that... hey things are growing so we all must be better off and that there is opportunity in everyone's future. What a waste!!

Seriously.

Instead of corporations putting people to work with that money so that they can build something useful the so-called savings by cutting jobs is instead donated to buy media time. Media time to produce propaganda.

NOPE. We don't want that money going towards jobs, or education or healthcare or any other thing that is useful and that would make us a better place with a higher standard of living.

Oh-NO! use it to spread lies and half-truths and to inflate politicians and corporate CEO's ego's.

More clout!!

That's what this nation needs. Clout that debases education, experience, hard work and all those altruistic values that are preached about. It's who you know and kiss up too that get's you ahead.

"Look at me mommy look at me I'm speaking at the DNC"....it makes me sick

"Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney hit Lake Forest to raise $4 million for his campaign Monday night, capping a day in which he... "

There goes $4 million dollars out of the Illinois economy. We lose the tax revenue when it's taken out of the state and how many jobs might instead have been created! What do we get in return? Talk about creating jobs and growing the economy not actually doing it. Talk.

Also heard the media mention several times this a.m. that 9.5 and McFake were at the Memorial last night. Made extra sure to mention 9.5 was there. Bigger story would have been why Shortshanks NEVER went to anything police-related.

And call me jaded, but I'm thinking 9.5 went just so down the road during contract negotiations he can point to this and say, "See, I CARE about our police." And that he respects our profession, blah, blah, blah.

No sympathy here for the striking teachers.

Heard a teacher interviewed on WBBM780 today saying that it is their right to get a raise. WTF?

This "sense of entitlement" has engulfed everyone in Chicago.

There ain't no right for you to get a raise. Get over it.

Better start reading about the economy around you and when teachers are making 80% more than the average person living in Chicago, they have NO RIGHT to complain about what they make. Plus - NO private sector employee gets any type of pension that even comes close to a teacher's pension.

You can also see a lot of mis-information out there as far as numbers not adding up to a 16% raise across 4 years. Don't just look at pay - look at benefits.

Chicago teachers only pay 3% of their healthcare costs. What's the bitch? You got it made.

These are way different times and no one should be bitching about pay and benefits because the teachers are already getting platinum benefits and they are one of the highest - if not the highest - paid in the country.

Parents in Chicago want better education - but they don't want to pay higher property taxes (one lady called in on WLS Monday PM). Well too F'ing bad. Do you think the state has to pay for this bureaucratic wasteland? She wants quality education for her kids- but doesn't want to pay 10% more in property taxes.

Those of you (CPD) crying for lifting residency, you might be surprised at what you would pay in suburban property taxes. They are a lot higher - but the schools (compared to Chicago) are better. What you pay in private tuition would go away - BUT, you would be paying for higher property taxes. Maybe that's a good tradeoff for you.

CPS should be totally dismantled - from its do-nothing bureaucratic administration to its deadwood teaching staff. Anyone arguing that this is wrong is clueless to the facts.

What is the CPS's HS graduation rate? 50% What is the freshman drop-out rate? 39%

Not real stellar numbers for those being paid real stellar rates of pay.

And while we're at it, dismantle CPD's administration as well. Too many clout-heavy, light-experienced people who are not leaders or not even good followers.

Chicago has problems - but throwing money at them is the WRONG solution.

The media is sickening with their spin.

We keep hearing the 16% wage increase numbers thrown out to present an image that the CTU is getting a 16% increase in take home pay.

Beware CPD. Should they play that same game on you, counting their pension contributions as your wage increase...well we all know how that will work when they fail to deposit the pension money as promised.

Then the talk about air conditioning in the classrooms. The media is presenting the teachers as prima-Donna's "well when I went to school we did not have air condition" as the media drops off the part that the teachers were talking about in the middle of summer school!! How many of these media jerks went to school in the summer? It's an insult to everyone's intelligence. The "strike of choice" label and everything buy two things are settled OH-no only six out of 49 are..

Rahm wants a long strike so he can shorten the school year to save money and blame it on the teachers.

9/11/2012 12:19:00 PM

Think before you type.
State law requires a minimum number of school days for each student. He can't just 'shorten the school year'.
Rahm doesn't want the embarrassment of a strike, under any circumstances. He may be smiling for the cameras, but he's got to be ready to explode. Nothing about this strike is beneficial to him. Nothing.
It was observed by a political commentator last night that he is not participating in the talks because he is such a polarizing personality, he might, in fact, lengthen the strike.

No fan of Rahm here. Teachers have a good deal and should be grateful. I wouldn't choose to work on the south or west side, so I don't. Don't like it? Quit. Someone else will take the job. It's when nobody is willing to teach in the ghetto that things will really change. Throwing more money at these teachers, many of whom have no business being on the job, achieves nothing.

When the teachers are the highest paid in the country at $76k plus benefits for 9 months of work he 80% of 8th graders can't read, we have a problem. Chicago is bankrupt and the CTU is a big part of the problem. If the teachers don't like it, they are free to look for work elsewhere.

National Police Union Turns Down Romney and Obama

Mitt Romney has been turned away by a large union whose endorsement he hoped to win.

The 330,000-member Fraternal Order of Police, the country’s largest police union, announced that it would back no candidate for president this year, the first time the group had passed on an endorsement in its 98-year history. The union backed the Republican nominees in 2000, 2004 and 2008, and backed President Bill Clinton in 1996.

------------------------

Why does teachers pay have to automatically equal higher taxes?

Look the city has money for a $55 million dollar Maggie Daley park. They have all kinds of money to give away tax incentives to corporations. The city has money to burn on $140,000 per mile bike lanes. Pretty small minded to think that we can't do more for schools without raising property taxes.

What happened to all that lottery money that was suppose to go to the schools? where is that? same place as the CPD pension contributions I suppose!

Fifty years from now when they kick you out the door for retirement and you have to depend on the kids that are in school right now to earn enough money to pay the taxes to support your standard of living you will wish these kids had free education the best available.

But oh-no not you right. You worked and earned and are not dependent on anyone. HA...good luck with that plan. These kids will still have to earn the disposable income to invest in your retirement plan investments and bid up the stock prices.

But hell naw...Englewood and the west side isn't bad enough. The hell with them all and let the city rot and the future generation rot with it.

You may not like to admit it. But the torch will be passed to their hands like our parents and grandparents pass it onto us. We should be demanding the best education we can afford for all who knows what innovations and advances may be discovered as a result. What's the alternative to be status quo. Turn the teaching profession into just another min-wage job with no benefits?

These teachers are entitled to a raise because they negotiated a raise in good faith with their last contract and Rahm rescinded it and that is plain wrong.

Just an observation, my wife is a school teacher with over 25 yrs teaching special education and has a masters degree.
What the schools and Rahm want to do is strip seniority.
If my wife's school is closed or they do away with special ed classes in her building, she is laid off. With 25+ yrs and a master degree she has no gaurantee of being placed in another school with a vacancy of the same position. It's up to the principal at that building to see if he wants to hire her. It has nothing to do with bad ratings being the reason my wife won't be hired, it has to do with that school principal having a budget and it is cheaper for him to hire a new teacher right out of college with a bachelor degree to fill the vacancy. Seniority be damned. You're out of a job!
You lose your spot at one school because of factors you have no control over, you're out of a job, no more going to a different school.

I always thought the main job of a union was to preserve seniority rights. That's what the teacher's union is trying to do, preserve seniority rights. Rahm is against this. If he can open the door and slowly strip seniority rights away from the teachers, he'll do it to the rest of the unions. He will chip away at police and fire seniority rights and when it goes to an arbitrator, his argument will be that precedence was set with the teachers. With our track record with arbitrators, we're screwed.

I don't know where to begin speculating how Rahm would mess with our seniority, but if he gets his foot in the door, he will take his other foot and shove it up our ass!

Also, my wife was at the rally downtown today, on the stage with Karen Lewis was the head of the fireman's unions who spoke and came out in support of the teachers union. Noticeably absent was anyone from the police union supporting the teachers.

"A real man never MF's a woman"

DING - DING - DING!

Those Chicago Values Rahm loves to rotate his dentures about.

Hence the insurmountable disconnect. The way of the North Shore shit-ass grates like a mutha on those of us born and raised the old Chicago way.

MF-ing women must've been something wholly acceptable and encouraged in the Emanuel household during the formative years of the little North Shore shit-ass.

When the story first broke it was all out there that Karen Lewis' husband was quite keen on "taking it to the alley" and having a man to man with Rahm for profanely addressing his wife.

Rahm ran and hid like a little bitch...

Heh... THAT'S some REAL Chicago Values we believe in!

Part of the reason Rahm wants so desperately to be rid of us... We remember the good of the old way and have the collective muscle memory of what's truly effective and what's pure-dee bullshit.

Fuck "new and improved" just because the label says new and improved. Especially when "it ain't broke and in no need of fixing."

Destroying this department in order to remake in their image.

Heh... It's on good authority that McIdunno and his N.Y.P.D henchmen have their noses out of joint at the "We don't care how they do it in New York" tee shirts and stickers popping up of late.

1. Chicago public school teachers are already well compensated. By CTU’s own figures an average teacher earns a salary of $71,000 (CPS reports the number is $76,000 without benefits). Even if we only compare CPS teachers to others with college degrees, they still do well. According to the US Census American Community Survey, the median annual wage for persons with a college degree is $48,866 in Chicago. CPS teachers earn nearly half again as much as an average worker in Chicago with a college degree.
Note: Average teacher pay at Urban Prep Academy, the Chicago charter school that has sent 100% of its graduates to college for the third consecutive year is $47,714.

Note: CTU walked away from a $400 million package that include a 16 percent raise.

Note: CPS is currently offering a 16% pay increase.

Dispelling longer school day myth: Under the interim agreement, teachers will continue to work roughly the same hours they do now. Instead of requiring teachers to work a 20 percent longer day, the Chicago Public Schools have agreed to hire more teachers to fill the extra instruction time with such classes as art, music and physical education.

2. Four out of every ten kids who start freshman year at a public high school in Chicago do not graduate. While poverty and crime certainly complicate instruction, this is not a system where anyone, including the administration, teachers or the union, can rest on their laurels.

3. Chicago public schools expect to drain their cash reserves in the upcoming year and are likely facing another shortfall of as large as $1 billion the year after that. It is doubtful that the district can afford across-the-board pay raises.

Note: CPS had to return a $35 million federal grant — Teacher Incentive Fund — because CTU refused to implement merit pay. CTU called CPS’ acceptance of the grant a “fraudulent action.”

4. Chicago receives almost $2 billion in funding from the state tax funds. That means almost 35 percent of Chicago’s total funding for education comes from state taxpayer funds. The entire state, not just Chicago, is paying for the failures of CPS and CTU.

5. CPS has the shortest school days and year in the nation when compared to the ten largest cities in the nation.

Do you believe in communism/marxism/socialism? If you don't why are you in sympathy with the Chicago Teacher's Union? The hell with this union..let them fight their own problems. Do you want leftists teaching your children? Are you satisfied with the communist/marxist/socialist/muzzie sympathizer oboma and his government leftists? Separate yourselves from leftist leaning unions...do not support leftist operations of any kind.

Why is a Hedge Fund Managers group funding ads against the CTU? Let's guess, maybe because they are completely anti-union? Funded by whom? You figure it out. Just be careful what you wish for, you might get it. CPD, you are next, as are your CFD compatriots. Game on people, do something other than mouthing the usual crap you hear from some know nothing moron.

Next time your boss tells you the "There ain't no right for you to get a raise. Get over it", you're going like, thank him for reminding you, right? When he tears up the contract where he signed for the raise you aren't going to be getting.

80% my ass. How come you suddenly believe those professional b.s.ers?
And what has YOUR union done about your pension? Why not?

Look at hours and working conditions too while you're at it.

So you're too much of a candy ass to be in a union that gets you what you deserve there too, huh?

"On average" If Bill Gates goes to a soup kitchen, the average net worth of every person there is a billion dollars. The average American has 0.98 testicles.

If you don't know that Mayor [not to be named] Junior set up a scam where the first half billion dollars (the B is not a typo) off the top from property taxes goes into his slush fund, go back to Chicago citizenship school and learn about T.I.F.s.
Then do the chapter where you have to actually read the state constitution and see what it says about funding education.
