People Are Still Taking Money?

Allegedly.

This one doesn't sound good:
  • A Chicago police officer was arrested today on suspicion of accepting a bribe of several thousand dollars in exchange for fixing a traffic case, according to sources.

The 45-year-old is assigned to the Southwest Side’s Ogden District and works as a field-training officer who instructs rookie cops fresh out of the police academy.

City records show he is an 18-year veteran of the department.
Eighteen years? And an FTO? Look for the entire "screening process" to be called into question. And anyone trained by this guy? Well, hope you like answering questions...a lot of questions.

SCC, people have never stopped taking money. Especially when making hispanic and Polish immigrant traffic stops. Some people have tried to be a little slicker about it, but it's never stopped. In truth, it probably exists more often than we would all care to know. Every now and then it just reaches a point where IAD has to actually come out and do something about it, in order to maintain some sort of order about it, lest things revert back to the pre-Greylord days.

Now all his cases will be questioned with integrity of the officer, and the lawsuit by the offender, who will get a pretty hefty payout, get his case tossed, will tell the jury in his lawsuit , he lives in fear, scared of the police, never to be able to work from all this stress, and live happy forever, with millions of bucks paid fir by the city. Then get shot by some thug trying to steal his $350.00 Nikes and his box Chevy with dem rims on dem. da end!!!

I call bullshit on this guy. However I have no doubt he is of questionable integrity himself.

Sees it all over, but never in the mirror. Has to justify it to himself. Lowlife, get off the job if you really are on, or turn in all those bad police officers you keep seeing.

To the tool that talks about the pre Grey Lord days as if he or she is in the know. I actually lived through those days.

The G was out trying to get all of the detectives that they thought were selling cases left and right and went to some extreme measures to trap some of our people.

What they were suprised to find out was that the corruption was solely from the judges, and lawyers who were constantly gaming the system. There were even a few ASA's involved. The few cops that were invloved worked for the judges at 26th street as bailiffs and court officers. Few if any street officers or detectives were invloved but the G went to extremes to trap some of us and a lot of those traps and setups were uncovered because the officers involved were hard woking and honest.

The investigation could have gone on a lot longer but they didn't like the results that they were getting.

Dan Webb who was a US Attorney who on several occasions stated the he led the investigations later went on to quit the US Attorney's office and defend some Grey Lord judges who were arrested and brought to trial. Talk about a conflict of intrest. The media and every legal organization remained absolutely mute with out any comment what-so-ever.

In short if you don't know what you are talking about just keep your comments to yourself. Leave the spouting off about nothing you have any knowledge about to your exempt command group. They also won't be questioned or called to task by the media.

Just at least try to find out what the truth is before going public with your comments.

You think this accusation wont come with a civil $$$ suit? Show me the video.

Officer Original, if your reading this, not all of us are jumping to the guilty conclusion. You are one of the hardest working Po's on the street. Your daily chases, narcotic $$$ seizures, vehicle impoundments and arrests are now gone. No more o.t. Around 1999 or 2000 there were cops in two districts on the NW side shaking down Polish motorists. Terry Hilliard brought in Polish speaking feds. Case solved. Cops arrested. One guy ate his gun.

What never ceases to amaze me is the petty nature of most of the corruption. Bribes from motorists, tow truck drivers etc.

Throwing away your reputation, freedom, and pension for what may amount to no more than a few hundred dollars. Stupid with a capital "F".

I've been on stops where the "motorist" had tens of thousands of dollars in cash in the trunk. It never really tempted me.

I recall two guys making a stop where the driver had over a million dollars in cash. I recall Old Country Buffet Cline talking about it on the teevee.

That likely would tempt me, but unlike Cline at Old Country Buffet I'd like to think I could avoid the temptation. I just picture my glorious mug being plastered in the Sun Times and the shame my kids would feel.

My family still is capable of feeling shame. Unlike certain people named Daley, Vanecko, or Emmanuel.

Off Topic-but I have to say something. I was at Midway this morning waiting for a plane flight about 7am. Saw the one CPD Officer-standing by food court to the side right by the security entrance-reading a sun times paper. He looked like crap and the hundreds of public who view him there have a fine opinion of your representative. Yes he did look up at the crowd a few times while reading as he turned a page. And then he was relieved by another officer-who at least stood out by the entrance giving some professionalism to your department when he wasn't laughing and joking with the TSA women who stopped by to visit him.
And another question-neither one of the officers had a RADIO!!!
WTF? How would they call for assistance if they needed to actually do something?

I hate to be critical, but the two guys surely have a supervisor who should be reassigned along with these two officers. I can't believe this is allowed to represent your department-to all of the people who go through Midway.

I have been on the job over 30 years and am ready to retire, but hope I don't project this type of image to the public.

So police are FORCED to live within the city limits here, their raises are taken away by tax increases, work in deplorable conditions, can't get time off, etc... In essence, everything is getting more expensive, and police pay is not going up or at least not by any significance..
The officer was wrong, plain and simple, but I can see why some officers would resort to these actions... Not condoning the actions, but I can understand why some do..this does not make the officer a BAD person, but just one who is human and made an error that will ruin his life.. Say a prayer for the guy, and especially his family..
This guy is going to take the beating of his life.
There is no need to kick someone while they are down
My two cents... Don't like it...... Tough! Just a citizen.

Yes, you're right, the FTO program is outstanding. Nothing but top notch officers who are an example of what this dept should be. They are leaders, proactive, excellent physical shape, and the cream of the crop. I'm sure they make it a point to be excellent examples to the future of CPD.

In case you didn't catch on, that was sarcasm. Idiot. The FTO program is an embarrassment to the department and has been for YEARS. If anyone at HQ had some balls they would stand up as say it. Change starts at the bottom, and the FTO program is definitely at the bottom.

He is not a bad guy but lets stick to the facts please. Who accused him? Is it some shit head he locked up? HR did tons of DUIs. So I can see someone saying hey I will give you 2 grand cause it will cost me 10-14 grand in court.

Is this bullshit? Lets see how it plays out in court. HR did have a gambling problem and did lock up a lot of ass holes on the west side. Those are facts.

Do you guys remember Cameron in 011 about 2002-03? He was taking money form gangbangers and was dirty as shit. The gangbangers even shot him, it hit his radio and he was lucky they didn't kill him. Happened on 1124s beat off of Wilcox. I was there. Feds had him on a wire taking money and was arrested. Do you know what happened to that case? I looked it up, it was dropped and he aint the policessses any more. I stopped him at Madison and Cicero on a traffic accident, he is driving a truck now.

The Dept saves tens of thousands of $$$ (on top of his yearly pay) by this accusation against you. Could that be the Depts motive? I hope you didnt betray us all and it all turns out well. If you did do it, theres nothing more to say.

Dear Friend: THANK YOU for your kind words for a brother officer, and your encouragement to all of us not to be quick to judge. Regardless of this officer's guilt or innocence, it is important to let due process runs its natural course, and important for US not to judge HIM. NONE of us are perfect, regardless of our record.

"Judging a person does not define who they are ... it defines who YOU are."

Peace!

Years ago in Englewood, we had an FTO who would have the recruits fill out a card on their first day with name, B-day, SS#, etc. Turns out he was stealing their identities. Hundreds of thousands of dollars in mortgages and car loans later, he finally got caught. Old AG might be out of the pokey by now! Everyone said that he was a "great" cop too. You just never know!

I hope there is more to this story. H R that I know is a very hard working Police Officer. I'm very sad if this were to be true. But they say you never know someone until they are tested.

If this turns out to be true then he let himself, family, friends, coworkers and the public we service down.

I just hope its not true.

OK... We're fighting for our lives in the face of an intentional manpower shortage and an ongoing multi-year media smear campaign orchestrated by people who want to see us walked backwards to the 19th Century as far as pay benefits and rights...

And there are STILL idiots out here thinking it'll be THEIR picture in the dictionary next to the definition of "Slick?"

If you can't stop stealing or doing stupid shit, just resign already!

Speaking of gambling problems. Aren't there some sticky finger white shirts in a south side district who never seem to get in trouble. But it's common knowledge that they have gambling issues and other money issues.

Some people have tried to be a little slicker about it, but it's never stopped. In truth, it probably exists more often than we would all care to know.

What Fucking district do you work at so I can stay the fu k away. There is not one person in my watch thats taken a penny. Thinking you can get away with breaking the law has been proven false time and again. Just ask all the other idiots that have gotten stripped. Police don't become thieves on the job, and if you take something you were already a thief before ypu came on

What districts have been known to have this sort of tripe going on over the past say, ten/twenty years? Districts like...010, 014, 016 and 017. There may be a few more, but those are your primary targets. No one wears a sign (usually) telling the world that they are a cop AND a thief. And yet, there always seems to be nibble on the hook that the feebs and/or IAD cast into the corrupt waters. Why is that?

ask rahm how he made 18 million working for freddie mac? all the financial problems we have today have roots there. look at corzine biden says hes the guy they look to for advice, 1 billion went missing. big guys walk, little guys go down.

---

he made $18M because the company that hired him to negotiate w/ ComEd was doing some politician a favor. That hiring company was most likely paid back in some way we will never know. God knows Rahm, with his communications degree, was not qualified, and would never even have been looked at if he was not a hooked-up politician.

This is exactly why Americans hate politicians.

No, you would be a retard if you just take what people tell you as God truth, without any evidence. I hope you arent the Police. Our work involves evidence collection and questioning everything. Also, the Department has their lists for people who get large amounts of o.t. You wouldnt know because you're not the Police, or if you are, you never spent more than 15 minutes in Court that one time your FTO made you write a traffic ticket a few months ago. Go tell your war stories to your g.f. goof.

SCC, people have never stopped taking money. Especially when making hispanic and Polish immigrant traffic stops. Some people have tried to be a little slicker about it, but it's never stopped. In truth, it probably exists more often than we would all care to know. Every now and then it just reaches a point where IAD has to actually come out and do something about it, in order to maintain some sort of order about it, lest things revert back to the pre-Greylord days."

I really hope this is some troll with an anti-police agenda saying this. Any POs out there know of this going on?

Etc.

But fuck the guy who said redo the Fto program. That's rediculous. One cop makes a mistake and revamp the FTO program ??? They disbanded SOS because of a few bad apples and fucked over alot of great cops who didn't deserve to get fucked over.

9/19/2012 12:30:00 PM
----------------------------------

Yeah and most of them beat the case.
