School Chief Out
- Chicago Public Schools CEO Jean Claude Brizard is out, to be replaced permanently by the school system's chief education officer, a spokeswoman for Mayor Rahm Emanuel said Thursday.
Brizard, who has been the CEO for about 17 months, made a mutual decision with the mayor that it was best he leave the top school post, mayoral spokeswoman Sarah Hamilton said.
"J.C. spoke with (School Board President) David Vitale and the mayor, and said 'I'm becoming a distraction. This is becoming more about me than it is about our mission to help the kids,'" Hamilton said.
Wow, he even fell on his sword for Rahm like a good Machine servant is supposed to. You'd think he was raised in Chicago the way he did it. Rahm must have promised him a good letter of recommendation of something,

Carol Marin interviewed Mayor Emmanuel on Oct 10, 2012 on Chicago Tonight, one day before this news broke. She asked him whether or not there was any truth to Brizard being a goner, as city hall insiders were insisting. Emmanuel denied the rumor, stating that he has confidence in Brizard. That of course was a lie. Does this mean Emmanuel also lies when he says he has confidence in superintendent McWhispers. I hope he'll be shown the door next...soon.

One news source reports that Brizzard made a mutual decision with the mayor to step down. Another media outlet states Brizzard voluntarily resigned. Don't believe a word of it. If he quit of his own free will, mid contract he should get nothing. Since he's getting the balance of his contract common sense says he was FIRED. Of course not one reporter in this city will state the truth. The city is spinning it as "60 days severance plus a years pay". That's an awful lot for someone who resigned.
If Brizard gets $250,000 a year and has a four-year contract - DO THE MATH (hopefully you are not a CPS grad)

I absolutely agree with the above post. Rahm is already trying to fire up the alderman that unless he gets union concessions on pensions, highly unlikely, that come 2015 he'll have to double property taxes. I think he knows he's unlikely to get those concessions so he had his fellow thieving politician Madigan introduce CA 49.
Rahm wants this to pass in a very bad way. God forbid it should pass it would allow Rahm to go ahead and fuck with our pensions without union concessions and without violating the State Constitution.
Make no mistake Rahm really, really wants CA 49 passed. He undoubtedly will start sending out commercials and newspaper ads to try and infuriate the public and turn them against us and urge them to vote yes on this.
This slimy snake must be defeated on this. Please urge everyone you know who votes to vote NO on CA 49! It is of the utmost importance to us right now.

Very funny! In my district we have the same problem. Bosses who want us to be "proactive" and to "get out there and make arrests". If I observe them doing something against the law then I'll arrest them. But I sure as hell am not going to get creative.

James Goldenstein and his wife, Betty Goldenstein, both 81, were later found in their home in the 1400 block of Westwood Road. James Goldenstein was found with multiple stab wounds to his chest and neck and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Officials say Horrell didn't serve a full prison sentence and was released just two days ago.
"For my office, it's very, very frustrating to know that we have done what we're supposed to do, which is to seek appropriate sentences for crimes. This was twice the amount he had received in the past for his most serious offense. It was a mandatory prison term case because of his criminal history, and the Illinois Department of Corrections let him out. I know this: had he served the full eight-year term, we would have avoided this tragedy today," said Kankakee County State's Attorney Jamie Boyd.
