- A judge set bail today at $100,000 each for three teen-age girls charged
as adults with the armed robbery of two University of Chicago students
this week near the South Side campus, authorities said.
A gun brandished by a fourth suspect, a 14-year-old girl facing juvenile charges, discharged while the girl was pistol-whipping a 28-year-old female student early Monday, but no one was shot, police said. The woman was accompanied by another student, a 22-year-old man.
Michelle Jones, 17, of the 12200 block of South Elizabeth Street, Nataya Collins, 16, of 1200 block of West 74th Place, and Kenyadrea Simpson, 15, of the 500 block of West 125th Place each were charged as adults with armed robbery, according to Cook County state’s attorney’s office spokesman Andy Conklin.
A judge today set their bails at $100,000 each, said Conklin. They are scheduled to appear in court next on Nov. 6.
Gee, and they're roaming around one of the more famous campuses in the world, pistol whipping grad students and robbing them. Good thing crime is down and the criminal elements aren't finding easy pickings anywhere.
On a related note, someone commented that there was a Channel 7 report stating crime was up?
- Channel 7 news tonight reports that "although one set of numbers show assaults up 22%, another set is expected to show that crime is actually down."
Anyone see that report? Or has it disappeared as it was realized this bucked the narrative that everything is down....except murders and shootings. And car thefts. And bank robberies. And burglaries.

Great work by UCPD apprehending three of the four suspects after they attempted to flee in a vehicle taken earlier in an aggravated vehicular hijacking, and CPD detectives for finding out the identity of the fourth female!
Trace the gun used. Punish the owner (strawbuyer) of the weapon. We've got to hold gun owners responsible if they allow their guns to be released on the street for illegal use.
I think the victims were undergraduates, not grad students. The evidence? They actually went outdoors.

Sorry. No "wake-up" there. Not now, not ever. This has been going on since about 1964. "Safety bulletins" are issued around campus, there is a general embarrassed silence, and by and by it happens again.

There was a time when the police were allowed to be the police and things were taken care of. Now the peter principle of incompetence has gone wild. White shirts are promoted and placed in a position of authority irregardless of their ability and or knowledge of how to fight crime. With a few exceptions.
The superintendent is a prime example. Clueless number fudging administrator that has zero, zip knowledge on how to fight street crime and compounds it by promoting political hacks that know even less.
What ever happened to his crime analysis unit that was to predict crime before it happened? It was a failure and that was no surprise to the real police.

The police chain of command would take over. The superintendent or 1st deputy would find out and then would call his immediate sub-ordinate.
The conversation went something like this. Area chief so and so, whats going on in your area with University of Chicago students being robbed and pistol wiped?

Excellent work by the UCPD in responding to the shots fired call and pursuing the offenders who fled NB in a vehicle taken in a vehicular hijacking. Foot pursuit as the offenders bailed and fled when their stolen vehicle crashed. Offenders taken into custody. CPD responded to assist and detectives uncovered ID of 4th offender who fled. Good teamwork!!

Nice job by the U.C Police. as usual, u guys grab the bad guys (girls). Some of us havent forgotten when you grabbed the guys who burglarized (then)Senator Obamas car AND had his property returned the next day because of YOUR work. Shhhhhh! That was an embarassing CPD moment huh? Dont listen to the negative comments. Probably another old 021 District CPD PO who had to do their job complaining again..... Sad.... You will never see a black person charged with a hate crime to a white person. Politicians are terrified that this would inflame the already violent ghetto community which can barely be contained as it is. The seeds which are ever present to riot or lootor cause further civil unrest only need this fertilizer to erupt. We do not hae the resources to deal with these savages if they decide to act out en masse.
