- A hooded gunman shot and wounded a man on the Gold Coast this morning, Chicago police said.
The 41-year-old man was shot near State and Chestnut streets about 5 a.m., police said, citing early reports.
The man was taken to nearby Northwestern Memorial Hospital, but his condition wasn't immediately available.
The shooting happened on the sidewalk at 7 E. Chestnut St., outside the Tempo restaurant.
The victim told police he was leaving the restaurant with three young women when the offender approached and said, "Don't move."
The Gold Coast, hmmmm? Mistaken identity? Of just another instance of the "wilding" crowd getting a little ....well, wild. In any event, not a headline Rahm wants to see on anything approaching a regular basis. With the media in his pocket though, that's not too likely.

I was at FOP meeting last night, and yes i do go to all of the meetings even when the FOP book is wrong with the times. TO the FOP, you guys were getting pretty hot last night when questions were being asked. One question that was asked was how much money do you guys make? for some reason the members might be clueless to this, so let me get this info into light.... the reps are making captains pay- and the prez is making D-8. I am not here to have people say you an as*shole for telling the blog what they make it is information that anyone can get. Second, to the female officer who asked what we asked for in the next contract. Thank you. Rich--- there is no need to get upset, i understand you can not disclose what we are asking for because of the gentleman agreement with the city, but last time i checked the city doesnt play fair. Instead of getting upset because she kept asking realize that in about say less then 2 years or so us members could be making less money in our checks then we are right now. So i think it is at least fair to ask the question what did we ask for. Again what the fop fails to realize is that you guys are making all of you over 100,000 and most of the membership will never come close to that amount of money. And to sit there and say because we get called at 3am to go to shootings that is why we get paid that money. Well just a reality check to that none of us want to get into shootings, nor for that matter i am sure most of us dont want to have to stay late on jobs but it happens. Yes we can check the money box, or the time box.. But lets be real which district is allowing you to use comp time when you want to use it. We cant. The Fop is off weekends, and im sure no one is checking when they want time on the end or front. I am not here to DOG out the FOP. I am here stating facts. OK, forgive me unprofessional speculation; leaving this joint at 5 AM with three women? "What if" this was a hypothetical end-of-shift breakfast, and there was an entitlement problem regarding a percentage of the night's proceeds.
Surely it would be the first time that such an event was known to occur in Chicago, which city is normally a shining example of good behavior by all.
Especially with the Loop on the upswing, as anyone can see.

Karen Lewis had teachers standing out there side by side walking the picket line with her. We have members posting total bullshit on a blog anonymously. Sry, SCC the best blog. Ask the FOP how many negotiating meetings they have had with the city. That's the key question. The answer is only ONE. There are no negotiations in progress. The number of meetings should not be a secret.
The city will negotiate but that they can pull out any time and take the position that FOP has a contract for another year since FOP missed the deadline for sending notice to the city on FOP's intent to negotiate (remember that fiasco last spring?). FOP therefore has no leverage. If FOP pushes a little too hard, then the city invokes the clause regarding notice to negotiate and Shields' incompetence costs the membership dearly (e.g. no retro anything for this year).
Sounds like Shields wants to keep this buried by not negotiating in earnest until next summer (hopefully he won't miss next spring's deadline). The contract would then not be settled until AFTER next year's FOP election. The problem is that the membership gets screwed in the process.

Fop salaries are paid thru union dues and the salaries should be lower
I was at FOP meeting last night, and yes i do go to all of the meetings even when the FOP book is wrong with the times. TO the FOP, you guys were getting pretty hot last night when questions were being asked. One question that was asked was how much money do you guys make? for some reason the members might be clueless to this, so let me get this info into light.... the reps are making captains pay- and the prez is making D-8.

Thank you for the information. Captain's pay is way too much money. When I call the FOP for assistance, the reps blow me off. They discourage the members from going forward with an issue. And they blame the officer for the officer's problem.
Surely it would be the first time that such an event was known to occur in Chicago, which city is normally a shining example of good behavior by all. Gold Coast Auto wreckers
