Wrong Numbers?

Once again, the media is running with numbers (2 to 4 dead, 24 shot) that don't seem to track with actual events:
  • Woke up to 27 messages about shootings on the blackberry this am. Crime is down!

As did I. But if you count the numbers several shootings had multiple victims. In 024 one of the shootings had three victims. In 003 two got shot one dead. I think another shooting had two shot but not sure where it was at. It was wild last night and even into the early morning. Since 5pm last night There were about 30 shot in the city and 2 dead. One or two others are still hanging on but are in critical condition...
And an update:
  • sorry, I was wrong. I just added up the total number off my blackberry and the total number of people shot from Saturday 0000hrs and Sunday 0600hrs was 31 total shot.. of those 31 two were dead. Thats 31 total shot in 30 hours. Just a little more than one per hour... not bad.
It sure would be nice to get an actual count one of these days.  Crime is down?  Not even close.

did you read up on the homicide offender in 025 :
Police said Ibrahim Aysheh was a gang member.

Court records indicate that Ibrahim Auysheh was arrested in May of 2010 and charged with reckless discharge of a firearm and unlawful use of a weapon. He was eventually found guilty on January 18, 2011 and sentenced to community service and was placed on probabtion.

Court records show that he violated his probation and was sentenced to the Cook County Sheriff's Boot Camp on Oct. 24, 2011.

once again...Even with the Valadez law in effect...let the ASA's explain how this savage was still roaming the streets.

Isn't the real question though whether or not the shootings took place in the alley? Cuz then it's okay with the mayor I think. It's what makes us a "World-Class" city by his definition.

We have to ask the question who raised these people? If they had watched the Count on Sesame Street when they were young they would know how to count.

The violence tax will fix it. Crime's down.

Chicago Cop Who Pleaded Guilty In Disability Scam Still On Force

In January 2002, in a case that somehow remained out of the public eye, a Cook County grand jury indicted Chicago Police Officer Thomas P. Nash, for theft and perjury — 31 counts in all — for collecting disability pay from the city’s police pension fund while also getting a paycheck from the sheriff’s office.

Nash — the son of a crooked cop who’d gone to federal prison — pleaded guilty to a single misdemeanor count of theft to avoid prison.

That's because these so called new tougher laws are just political BS that politicians hope the media runs with because it sounds like they are tough on crime. Most cops that have spent time in court learn quickly that it just doesn't matter what the laws or sentencing quidelines are.

A few years back I had a Agg. UUW case where the shit head's lawyer was a former ASA, so the ASA's on the case asked if I would mind if the plea would be a misd. because his lawyer used to workin their office. This is just a tiny example of all the BS that takes place once the case hits court. Several times I have seen private lawyers talk about old times with the judge before the trial and of course the judge then finds the gang banger not quilty and reads some past BS case for his reasoning. later on the street the shit bag tells me how they were old friends that's why he got off.

It is always a week behind, but here is the link to the numbers that come from Tracy's office. That is the Tracy who was bragging on WLS that " until 2 hours ago, we had gone 20 hours without someone getting shot". He never mentioned the 31 people shot in 30 hours right before that! He must not know they need time to reload.

crime is down !!!! remember, the stategy is working and although there were 31 shot and 2 dead, crime is down in those more dangerous parts of the city and our children are safer because of it.. oh and by the way did anyoe notice how racoon eyes mentions that with hiring 500 next year he's on track to bring us to , what did he say? full strength? full manpower? i dont know what he said exactly but it was something stupid like that......

it was in that article last week where he says he dowsn't want to raise property taxes to pay our pensions, although as the next sentence read in the times- 'although nothing says that the city has to take money from that source to pay our pension. and also he said that the city needs to pay 700 million to get our pensions back to where it should be.. UH hellooooooo !!!! if the city had done their part and contributed to our pension fund like they were supposed to and a judge wouldn't have ordered you to deposit that $$$ back because of the city's negligence( although they stole from our pension) you wouldn't be in this mess mr mayor. so tell it like it is !!!! dont make it seem like we're the bad guys here you little prick !!

Ground Hogs Day 2012 -- Don't Shoot anti-gun violence initiative

As the economy continues to decline with austerity cuts on deck and with more jobs lost and inflation set to explode the apocalypse is nearer.

So it's time for more spin-spin-spin.

What we need is a brand new initiative with a lazer-like focused like we never had before.

Dateline Peoria Ill....

----------------
PEORIA —

The creation of a new unit at the Peoria Police Department signals a "cultural shift" as much as a redirection of resources to support the Don't Shoot anti-gun violence initiative.

Rather than use the department's vice officers to go after the highest-level dealers and snare some violent offenders in the process, the Target Offenders Unit will replace the vice division and combine it with street crimes officers to put the top priority on those who use guns in the street.

****

The unit will be similar in size to the violent crime task forces of the last few summers, which ranged from 16 to 20 officers. Officers who want to be part of the new unit are currently applying for the positions.

The scope of the Target Offenders Unit, however, will be much more precise than that of the task forces. Settingsgaard called the new unit's focus "laserlike," rather than broad and geographically based like the hot-spot policing and saturation patrols that have dominated the summertime responses to spikes in violence.

To hone the missions, the new unit includes an intelligence gathering division.

"Over the last few years, we've lost some of our ability to gather intel," Settingsgaard said in reference to budget cuts that have dropped the number of sworn positions from 250 to 214 at the department.

There's money and power to be gained by the political apparatus that is allowing this. Use the fear baby.

The fear is a powerful motivator. Sit on your hands and when enough hearts and minds from the fed-up taxpayers have been one you can do whatever you want.

The taxpayer will cry to do something, anything because doing anything is better than this nothing.

To use the crisis and not waste it you must first create the crisis.
