Keeping Chicago Business in Indiana

Water Department truck:

Water Department workers:

Water Department plates:

Really?  We're enriching Indiana companies by what?  Leasing trucks from them?  No crooked companies in Chicago could fit the bill on this one?

Those aren't "workers." They're "managers." Can't you see what it says on the truck?

They "manage" water.

Think this is bad, look up "G4S," the private company that bid on London Olympics security and then came in so shorthanded that the Army had to fill in.

G4S is increasingly moving to take over policing in England.

Gee, I wonder which friend(s), family member(s) or politican(s) owns/has interest in this particular rental company?

I also wonder what a side-by-side comparison of identical trucks rented from that specific vendor and any other vendor would reveal.

There's no doubt that everything associated with that business is cheaper in Indiana: cost of owning/leasing property, taxes, overhead, payroll, vehicle purchase price, licensing, fuel and insurance. Would that translate to a better deal for the city of Chicago? In theory, yes. In practice? Hell-Fuckin'-No!

Maybe a FOIA request is in order to get to the bottom of this. And since our media is in bed with the administration, maybe some intrepid journalist from the Hoosier State can step up and cut their teeth on what might be a big story 'round them parts.

Will our pirouetteing mayor respond? Claim he's saving the taxpayers money with this contract?

Since taxes are cheaper in Indiana, it makes perfect sense to me. Hell, I register my vehicles wherever its cheapest. CPD vehicles with Oregon plates. CFD vehicles with Florida plates. Why not? Of course-M plates are only like 10 bucks for the municipality to purchase....but figure in graft, corruption, and pay offs.

I bet your rite. It prob costs half as much in Indiana to get those trucks but by the time the "ChicagoWay" is factored into the equation the price actually doubles. I second the motion to see who owns the joint and whos a silent partner.

I just came back from a bike trip to Missouri. Cigarettes are $33 a carton compared to at least $80 here. Gas was $3.60 a gallon, for PREMIUM. You know what it is here.

Everything is way cheaper where I was, 60 miles SW of St Louis.

And remember, the reason everything is more expensive here is primarily taxes. Taxes are so high because of politicians stealing so much for so many years. Richard M. Daley being the head scoundrel.

I was looking at pictures of Al Capone with his lawyers and how they fawned over the big man as they kept him in the crime business. Really reminds me of Daley and all his bootlickers and 11th Ward suckholes.

If we ever eliminate some aldermen and combine wards, I surely hope the 11th is one that gets erased along with every inbred democratic precinct captain in it.

Just one step closer to being privatized. Start checking for a newly formed corporation in
Indiana named Chicago Water Management LLC.

Water dept workers to be transferred into other agencies, tree trimming, rodent control, ect. Chicago Water Management LLC. will be all none union workers at half the pay and almost no benefits.

One agency at a time will be outsourced and privatized.

The city is looking to fire or force out as many UNION city workers as possible. Streets and San's new boss is there for one thing only. That is to train the supervisors on how to document irregularities, absenteeism, unnecessary overtime, theft and not giving 100%. Remember if you get fired for any reason, you get no pension!

How do you fix the pension problem? You get rid of as many as possible before they can actually collect their pension.

Problem solved!!!

"Really? We're enriching Indiana companies by what? Leasing trucks from them? No crooked companies in Chicago could fit the bill on this one?"
---

No local companies will deal with the City of Chicago because most companies like to get paid in a timely fashion so they can stay in business. The City of Chicago is a deadbeat, they don't pay their bills on time. And often they make the creditors sue them for their money.

Take Millennium Park for instance. Mayor Mumbles Daley was in a hurry to get it built, by the Millennium, you know? So he ordered it be started before a full set of architectural plans were completed and engineering work could be done.

Rush rush, 'da mare wanted it done so they began early and slap dashed the work. Shoddy concrete among other ills were soon discovered.

So much had to be torn out and done again. The City blamed the contractor and the contractor was simply doing what Richy wanted. Result: the City told the contractor to go pound salt for their money. The contractor sued and finally won in court, years later.

But by then the urgency had faded and no one of us paying the tax bills ever knew the true cost. At least double or triple what the original estimates were. Richy got his horseshit park, wealthy businesses were coerced to contribute and the City hid the real cost to taxpayers.

So unless you are a connected company you will get burned when you do business with the City of Chicago.

Wrong! If the situs of operation is in the city or the vehicle is garaged or used primarily in the city it requires a city sticker. Although I don't believe the city charges each agency for a municipal city sticker so it is more a technicality for a city vehicle to have one.
