Chicago v New York

  • New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg was crowing.

"The number of murders this year will be lower than any time in recorded city history," Bloomberg said Friday in a statement announcing that homicides in the city this year had fallen to 414 — the fewest since it started keeping such statistics in 1963.

About the same time Friday, Chicago police were trying to get the message out that their city hadn't actually recorded its 500th homicide this year, as was being reported. A few hours later, they had to backtrack and acknowledge that, yes, in fact, "the city has seen its 500th homicide for 2012."

That's right: There were more homicides this year in Chicago than in New York, a city with three times the population. That means Chicagoans were proportionally 3.7 times more likely to be homicide victims than New Yorkers were in 2012
McCarthy watch is in full swing.  Remember, when Rahm says he has full confidence in Garry and no plans to replace him, 72 hours is the over/under.

RAHM-HOG DAY IS COMING!

If Rahm steps off the plane, sees his shadow and runs back inside the Downtown Tower of Bullshit it means 52 more weeks of shootings!

We got's to get's these assault weapons off the streets! The large magazines too. KEEP REPEATING IT!

Like if we had banned them the 500 Chicago homicides would be reduced by...ummm reduced by...re...oh never mind.

Almost every one of these mass murders there's a suicidal person behind them. So what does Rahm do? He closes mental health centers that may intervene in time and sends up an assault weapon ban smokescreen.

Nice job jackazz. What are you retarded?

Bloomberg is rubbing this in 'way past the point of -- well, it could never have been called "gentlemanly ribbing" like a Chicago-pizza-vs.-New-York-pastrami sports bet, as the subject is literally deadly serious.

Bloomberg is trying to shove Rahm off dead center to do something.

Yeah but we're getting a $55 mil. dollar park WITH THE NAME "DALEY" ON IT!

That's more important then people.

NYC doesn't have anything with the name Daley on it so this will help attract the tourist.

We need the tourist to park in the $6.50 an hour parking places and pay for the inflated gasoline.

Soon to gamble in the downtown casino's after we talk all the union workers into taking cuts because we have no money and are all in this together.

(Shhhh, don't talk about the money the casino will generate until AFTER we get all the give backs on the union worker contracts. The pay cuts, health care cuts, pension cuts, that we hide by using the label "reform")

Watch. "we have no money, we have no money" Oh the contracts are done and the give backs have been legalized? Oh look here's a casino and we have some money now. Look at all this money. Oh-no not for you..for our friends to dole out on no-bid city contracts. Woo-hoo.

"we are so happy to do this for you"

Oh and the $300,000 per mile bike paths (if we ever get the paint on the lanes right)

Trade a $2,000 weapon in for a $100 Walmart gift card? Only if it's broken right?

(youtube) LAPD gun buyback turns up two rocket launchers

Now a rocket launcher...

You see this is why we need to register these rocker launchers so that when any of them are traded, sold or lost we will know where they are!

Shut the border down if you're gonna ban weapons.

Can't have it both ways Rahm, Quinn.

How's the drug ban been working out as you piss away the taxpayers treasure on that?

I blame Mayor Evil One more than I blame McCarthy. Not hiring enough cops to patrol this town is criminal. The city always has money to waste on bikes lanes, a new city park for the late Maggie Daley, and now $1 Million to put veggie gardens in public schools. Always money for things that make the Evil One look good. If you plan to live in this town you had better be packing or have a really good escape route when the Mutant Gangsters are chasing your arce down the street.

OT:

Congress using the cover of the holidays to sneak thru various bills.

Nothing to see here folks, oh look over there at the shiny New Years stuff..lol

-----------------------

Criminal Roundup, 12/29

In the you know how it is column, we have the following.

First, Eric (Place)Holder received some "unexpected" support from -- you guessed it -- Democrats in Congress, who used the cover the holidays to file the following:

A little-noticed brief filed last Thursday by House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform Ranking Member Elijah Cummings and fellow Democrats John Conyers, Jr., Henry A. Waxman, Edolphus Towns and Louise M. Slaughter, asks the United States District Court for the District of Columbia to dismiss without prejudice the civil complaint by the Oversight Committee against Eric Holder following the Attorney General being found in contempt of Congress for refusing to produce subpoenaed documents related to the Fast and Furious gunwalking investigation.

This is, because, well, the chief law enforcement officer of the country shouldn't actually have to obey the law. That's for us peasants, you see.

Next we have the NY Shooter. Yes, that one; the wonderful nice guy who shot and killed firefighters -- after lighting a fire on purpose. The media has been oddly silent about this "mass shooting", and with good reason: This clown did 17 years in prison for killing his 92-year old grandmother with a hammer, and we let him out.

http://market-ticker.org/akcs-www?post=215445

There's you "BROKEN WINDOWS BULLSHIT" that the laws matter.

Meanwhile as the "fiscal cliff" drama is ratcheted up who wants to make a bet that a last minute deal is done at something like 4am in the morning there too, while taxpayers are either loaded from NYE celebration or fast asleep and away from their TV's and radio's

You know that they don't want you to see what's in the bills coming up.

Heh "Fast and Furious" kabuki theater -- getting these assault weapons off the streets. Yeah right.

What a joke it all is.

Boy how Obama paid and helped out Rham. But Rham would rather spend millions of leftover money on a bullshit gardening project instead of ever fixing or erecting a fence for the officers who work at the old 007. What a shame Thor had to die and nothing was ever done by the city to make sure nohting like that ever happened again. All I see is some bullshit wooden police horses put up. What a joke. Remember that next time you work Violence on your day off hard chargers bringing in numbers for a city that doesn't give a fuck about you.

"There were more homicides this year in Chicago than in New York, a city with three times the population. That means Chicagoans were proportionally 3.7 times more likely to be homicide victims than New Yorkers were in 2012."

...so that means we need to copy New York City's gun laws.

McCarthy just put it out on radio news, sound bite "Now, take New York. New York has strict gun laws."

There it is.

We have invited all of the Third World countries in with our "Sanctuary City" promise of no prosecution.

We will give illegals a drivers license to make it even easier to vote in a Country in which they are here, you know, illegaly.

We have empowered our youth by not sending them to prison for violent acts for any meaningful ammount of time. Catch and release.

We have saved the taxpayers money by letting the Police Department members fall to dangerously low numberes.

We have kept guns from law abiding citizens. Only criminals have guns in Chicago and we take in more illegal guns than any other City.

None of our politicians have been accosted in decades becaus we provide them with dozens of armed police offices. We even let them keep them after they retire.

FIRST THINGS FIRST

"Rahm, it's a good thing you're still out of town." -- SCC

Oh, this is a very busy working weekend -- not regarding homicide, but about "gay marriage."

This article is yet anther one that's like turning over a rock. The phrase "Illinois business leaders" has become code for "The Combine." I'm surprised Rahm's pal Bruce Rauner (huge "Democratic" contributor being groomed as next "Republican" governor) isn't mentioned here.

"Over the weekend, President Barack Obama signaled his support, and Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel [is] asking CEOs to [support it.]

"I've called anywhere from nine to a dozen (CEOs)," Emanuel said. "And everybody is a personal 'yes.'

"The most important corporate backer may be Fred Eychaner, the Chicago media mogul and arts champion who...is the primary funder for the public relations campaign, which is managed by ASGK Public Strategies.

"Eychaner appears to be the largest Democratic donor in the 2012 election cycle, giving $14 million...another funder is Laura Ricketts, a co-owner of the Chicago Cubs, who set a goal of raising $1 million for Obama this election cycle...

"But ASGK's behind-the-scenes role is new, and the trio of nonprofits is not paying what must be a significant sum for ASGK's services. (David Axelrod co-founded ASGK and then sold his stake in 2009 after becoming a top White House adviser to Obama.)

Mr. Mayor if you want the murder rate to decline, then bring back MSF & TRU.

INCONVENIENT FACT

"How many of the dead are due to assault rifles and how many due to handguns?"

12/28/2012 06:23:00 AM

"Exactly 1 (one) is by rifle and it doesn't say whether it is an assault rifle or not. Doesn't matter, Rahm can get political mileage out of it for future runs at high political office..."

...or lateral moves back into banking/deleterious NGOs while steering events along through the Inner Party Rolodex. These people are on 20 corporate boards at once.

Look at the Queen Ant, Valerie Jarrett -- the one that's inextricably set up 15 feet under your front lawn with tens of thousands of workers scurrying around her, grooming her with their feelers and feeding her "honeydew."

"Valerie Jarrett was born in Shiraz, Iran to American parents, James E. Bowman and Barbara Taylor Bowman...she married Dr. William Robert Jarrett, son of famed Chicago Sun-Times reporter Vernon Jarrett...Vernon Jarrett was a one time political associate of Communist Party USA activist and Obama mentor Frank Marshall Davis...Valerie Jarrett is the great niece of prominent Democratic Party leftist Vernon Jordan...Her maternal grandfather was Robert Taylor, the first black chairman of the Chicago Housing Authority...went to the exclusive University of Chicago Lab School...went to work for Chicago’s first African-American mayor, Harold Washington...stayed on under his successor, Richard Daley...she...recruited Michelle Robinson, then engaged to Barack Obama..."

Here we find the very namesake of the projects. Unbelievable.

On, and on, and on -- money and power and connections beyond counting and still grabbing, clawing, clutching for more, more, more...

Yes, the McCarthy haters are in full swing, but nothing will happen. Homicides are up in this town, the highest wince 2008, but few recall when in the 70s and 80s we had well over 800 and some years over 900. Who was the superintendent then ? Who complained? Was anyone demoted or moved? Do you really think that anyone who is currently in a leadership position could do any better under the circumstances? Do you want Uncle Terry back or Fat Phil or Rodriguez or any of the other politcal hacks that Daley appointed? This town has the biggest gang problem in the country which drives the homicide rate. No one under these circumstances would do any better. Such whinning is exhausting.Dont forget, McCarthy is doing the same thing that the commish or NUPD is doing, the same strategy, the same philosophy. We have more cops per capita then the next top five cities. Blame the judges and prosecutors for some of this.Blame the merit promotion system. Why hang everything on the head of a professional cop and a damn good cop, McCarthy. And, no, I am not related and I do not know him.

People are all over the map, Weis, not a cop but years in law enforcement, universally hated (I was not a fan). Schenkel, not a cop, no PD experience except the Academy and OEMC. I like the guy but which is it? Ex police or not? Through the ranks or outsider. I think that no matter who is in charge, the disgruntled will hate him or her.

Nice job jackazz. What are you retarded?

................

These places were closed because there's no money to fund them. No city money, no state money, no federal money. Also insurance carriers won't pay for in patient mental health treatment (most of the time). For governmental agencies to pay means higher taxes. Are you willing to pay?

Now, if we could get the Maggie park money and the cease fire money and the flower pot money we MIGHT be able to reopen a mental health facility or two to reopen.

Who would anyone want to work homicides in this city?

-ERI
-ASA looking over your interview. "Ask him this or that."
-Endless Felony Review To Do list
-Begging witnesses to come to the Area to wait for the ASA for four hours to make a decision whether to write his statement
-Then finding the same winesses for more interviews or the grand jury
-25 page reports
-Police shootings where most of the POLICE say they didn't see anything
-30 page reports
-waiting for the one man Crime Lab on a winter scene for 3 hours
-aunties constantly calling and asking why did the multiple convicted just released victim get kilt.

Just go to RBT or SVU and avoid all this bullshit.

A great post. To be honest the only good thing about homicide is the victim. Usually they won't fuck up the case. Used to be best job in the city. Now you get micromanaged from 35 th st so much it's a joke. You have to convince yourself to not care about 98% of the victims.

PS a 1 month old dead today on south east side. Some head trauma 1 month olds can't even move it didn't do it to itself don't expect this to be a murder area south can't take another open homicide.

First off, good luck with your son. I wish you the best. As to the ambulancebill, call the number on the bill. They will give you the number to the proper person at the city. They will explain the one page very simple form that you need to fax or mail in and the bill is taken care. I have a daughter with issues and I needed an ambulance about a year ago. The day after receiving the bill it was cleared with under 10 minutes of minimal effort. I too am CPD.

It's so much safer in Chicago since Rahm shut down those mental health centers don't you think?

"Beller suffered burns to 90 percent of his body and was listed in critical condition at Mount Sinai before also being taken to Stroger. Two women, 60 and 84, were taken in fair-to-serious condition to Saint Anthony Hospital.

Authorities said the fire was being investigated as an arson, and that it appears someone poured an accelerant around the apartment and possibly on the children. Relatives have told investigators that someone in the house had mental issues and had threatened to burn down the house, according to authorities, citing preliminary information. "

On Sunday December 17, 2012, 2 days after the CT shooting, a man went to a restaurant in San Antonio to kill his X-girlfriend. After he shot her, most of the people in the restaurant fled next door to a theater. The gunman followed them and entered the theater so he could shoot more people. He started shooting and people in the theater started running and screaming. It’s like the Aurora, CO theater story plus a restaurant!

Now aren’t you wondering why this isn’t a lead story in the national media along with the school shooting?

There was an off duty county deputy at the theater. SHE pulled out her gun and shot the man 4 times before he had a chance to kill anyone. So since this story makes the point that the best thing to stop a bad person with a gun is a good person with a gun, the media is treating it like it never happened.

Only the local media covered it. The city is giving her a medal next week. Just thought you’d like to know.

#1 Go to your district and get the form you send to the city for your ambulance bill, or

#2 Keep posting on a blog.

Every time I see McClownfish on tv I swear he must be on meds. He's got a very flat affect.

BTW, how's that lawsuit against the Chicago Crime Commission (Jfled) coming?

12/30/2012 07:00:00 AM

That is not flat-affect; it's a trick taught by personal coaches and media coaches.
If you raise your voice barely above a whisper and smile, people lean in toward you and they hang on your every (barely-perceptible) word. It's an attention-concentrating device.

Didn't Bloomberg make fun of Rahm with some similar comments not long ago? What's the ill will due to (other than they're both assholes)? Did they have a specific run-in over something? Funny as hell. Rahm must hate Bloomberg, otherwise he'd have copied the taxes on Big Gulps and infant formula or whatever the hell it is.

12/30/2012 06:51:00 AM

Yup. Bloomie slapped Rahm down on the Charlie Rose show a couple of weeks ago. This is the show Rahm used to announce his desire for the not-then-available Chicago mayoral position.

I'm a citizen and read the blog so I know the true story about crime in the city. After seeing you officers treat each other so rudely on here for months (see above for most recent example), I have to finally ask, how you can expect citizens the average Joe to respect you when you treat each other with such disdain and disrespect? Very disheartening to see.

The response by 10:55 pm is uncalled for. If you won't respectfully help two fellow officers, why would I think you'd be any help to me if I ever need it?

Of course the way you treat each other also tells me there can't possibly be a "code of silence." You don't respect each other enough to cover for one another.

A contract is between decent honorable people. O'Neill, MLAS and the management of COD do not count as decent or honorable and must frequently be forced to live up to the provisions of the contract.

This Electric fiasco should be it's own thread...

it reminds me of the Parking Meter deal...

"... It was December 1, 2008. That morning would be the first time that the Chicago City Council would be formally notified that Mayor Richard Daley had struck a deal with Morgan Stanley to lease all of Chicago's parking meters for seventy-five years. The final amount of the bid was $1,156,500,000, a lump sum to be paid to the city of Chicago for seventy-five years' worth of parking meter revenue. "

What happened to all that money so that it caused the rate to go through the roof>>>>!

3) willing and able to tell City Hall, and the politicians, to go to hell....
4) knows enough history about the current exempts, to dump about 75% of them, and that's for starters...
5) reorganize the CPD, streamline the units, recreate the citywide teams...
6) prior to assigning and promoting, have folks submit to a forensic personnel and background check (i.e., family and friends, personal relationships (marriage, divorce, parenting, etc.), financial background, investments, real estate interests, political connections, etc.)....
then......talk about transparency.....put it all out there for the public to see....

Because you won't know shit else but 911 when something very large and ugly is smiling at you as it climbs through your window?

Some predators "toy" with their prey... Just so you know. Nevermind that smell. It's just you shitting on yourself in fear.

You see... It's like this. You've been taught that fighting back is wrong. You believe that everyone should be able to sit and work out their differences.

We, The Police on the other hand?

A precious too few of us are from another time. and place. We grew up native to this city. Toughness, common sense and street smarts were pounded into us at a very young age.

We grew up around men who made no bones about fighting, defending and protecting something.

And women who would kick the asses of the men who fell short.

You're under the influence of mincing, tip-toeing, smooth skinned, euro-weenies with tits who shy from conflict because it's "bad."

You sell the mean and insensitive, blue collar Coppers (who are all "mad" because it isn't 1960 anymore) awfully short don't you?

You should be on your bald and naked knees thanking whatever diety, spirit or wood-imp at whatever chapel, clearing in the woods or voodoo kitchen you devote yourself to, that The Policemen you're so convinced you can do without, managed to hang on this long in the face of concentrated adversity.

Such as it is, it will be YOUR ASS numbered among the ones devoured first...

BECAUSE MCGOOF HAS CAUSED CONSTANT KAOS IN THE DEPT SINCE HE TOOK OVER,HE IS A OUTSIDER WITH NO CLUE ON CRIME IN CHICAGO WHICH HE PROVED,ITS SAD JFED PUT HIM TO SHAME.

I think I got it.

Bloomberg is putting this material out --

"There were more homicides this year in Chicago than in New York, a city with three times the population. That means Chicagoans were proportionally 3.7 times more likely to be homicide victims than New Yorkers were in 2012."

...so that means we need to copy New York City's gun laws.

McCarthy just put it out on radio news, sound bite "Now, take New York. New York has strict gun laws."

There it is.

Bloomberg/Emanuel/McCarthy -- one gun-banning mind, one voice.

---

Let's get on ehting straight about the Chgo/NYC thing -> NYC is about 1.5 times the size (granted 3x the population, 3x the police force - about)

but 39k cops are roaming around an area 1.5 times the size of Chicago.

That matters.

Also NYC has proprtionately WAY MORE DETECTIVES. 6k (about) of 39k are detectives.

about 7 to 1 ratio of cops to Dets.

In Chgo that ratio is about 10 to 1. About 10k cops and 900 Dets.

So NYC has far, far less geographical area to patrol, and way more Dets.

Hey McCalculator .... put those figures into the hopper and stare at 'em a bit.

(and granted again - a lot of NYC Dets. are in narcotics and such ... but still)

Gary Schenkel USMC New SUPT
Amem to that. Could you see him in front of the reverends, (small r intended)and what he would say to
He'd probably get on his knees, in front of he reverneds in prayer of course and tell them
less police more dispatchers
Hiring dispatchers and TMA's from their churches did him a world of good, and that police are gonna answer EVERY call dispatched no matter how stupid
then he'd sip from the chalice of holy kool aide and be forever in their debt, amen.

He told him first where to go to solve his problem, and then told him to stop searching on a blog. Good advice both times. You are a softer-than-puppy-shit dweeb. Men and women who deal with the dark side of humanity post here. That takes a certain type of person which you are not. We might speak to each other bluntly, but we will always back each other in a way you will never understand as an outsider.

We don't have time for little sissies like you to come on here and give us lessons in etiquette. Now I know that I just got your panties in a bunch, but it was done for a reason. You were never in the military, as you would have grown accustomed to such communication and ball busting, and you are not a cop. So kindly shut the fuck up and be glad that these men and women will come to the aid of your sorry ass when the time comes. Because God knows that your pansy little ass won't confront an attacker when he spots your passive little pussy face.

Now have a nice day, Sally, and just for kicks, go get your shine box.

"Glad you're not my bear cop. He's, as you say, the REAL police."

What's a "bear cop?" You and your significant other rent costumes and do things, set up little situations?

Got a code word you use when it goes too far?

Don't forget the word. We'll find you days later stuffed under the bed wearing one high-heeled shoe.

Too many of these as it is.

the wonderful thing about living in America is....everyone has a right to express their opinions.....
now, one might say, folks have a great right to personal privacy...
others might say....if society allows someone to have the right to deprive another human being of their freedom (i.e., arrest), and/or, under certain circumstances, take their life (i.e., deadly force), then maybe, society should know a lot more about that someone than the average person....maybe that individual should be held to a much higher standard than anyone else......just sayin'

Hope your kid is OK.

You now have the information to get the bill paid per FOP (or PB&PA) contract.

Part of the problem is coppers now don't have the gray-haired old timers to ask questions anymore. When I was working I must have answered that same question several times a year by people I was working with and we went to a computer, got the form and chatted for a few minutes, do you need help with anything else?

Stay Safe, I miss doing stuff like that.

I think you mean, public has no right to see anything about our >>> private lives. <<<

What I do while working is one thing; it stops at my front door, my wife (or husband, significant other, life partner), child, church, phone, PC. I refuse to be treated as a second class citizen or with a double standard.

There is an actual CPD form that you use to apply for the ambulance fee waver. I have an extra somewhere. When I find it I will post the form number.

Cline also had him escorted out of the building after he fired him. That was a terrible insult to a man who served his country for many years. Say what you will about him, but he didn't deserve that kind of treatment.
