- Chicago’s top cop says he wants to talk with federal authorities about security at the Metropolitan Correctional Center in the wake of this week’s dramatic escape from the downtown facility.
Police Superintendent Garry McCarthy says maximum security federal prisons are not unusual in downtown areas in big cities, but escapes like the daring one this week at the Metropolitan Correctional Center are rare and he is concerned.
“I am not so familiar with what goes on there, I am going to make myself,” said McCarthy.
Opportunistic for sure. Part of a planned move to distract from the approaching 500th homicide and anything else that's brewing in the background.
Maybe McNumberCruncher can tell the feds how they're not using the prison guards they have efficiently, that they need to put them where the escapes are going to be via the new PrisonStat program developed by New York, and that they should tell the public not to worry - they'll hire more prison guards once they're sure that they are getting the most out of each one already on the payroll.
And pay no attention to those other 4 guys shimmying down the drainpipe. They aren't escaping, they're creative relocating their physical presence to alternate addresses to decrease the increase of the MCC population.

If we finish the 2012 calendar year with at least 503 homicides, then the City of Chicago will be at a 10 YEAR HIGH for murders.
2008 had 502 homicides. Just one additional murder puts us at the ten year homicide high.
Just in case you were were wondering if the City of Chicago could beat an 11 year old murder record or even longer, there were approximately 540 murders 11 years ago so beating any murder record over ten years seems unlikely, but I think we can do better and beat it next year if we really try and stay committed! Together We Can!

Burglaries, robberies and all the nice things that accompany them are skyrocketing in 008, 022 and 016, but we're lucky to see a car every other day on certain beats. I was at the academy and got a chance to talk to a professor from Northwestern Law School. The same jag offs that are involved in the Medill Innocence Project are going to target police officers who work in the 15th district who have multiple cr#'s. Now please tell me in the ghetto the only officers who get cr#'s are the aggressive officers. While the one's who only respond to their jobs and do reports don't get cr#'s because they don't step on anyone's toes.

Remember that congressman from Georgia who was speaking to a 4 star general on the joint chiefs telling him his concern that Guam would capsize if 8,000 US Marines and all their gear and equipment were to go to the island?
The 4 star didn't miss a beat or bust out laughing but answered in all seriousness that they had taken that possibility under consideration and they didn't think there was any danger of Guam capsizing.

For God's sake, there hasn't been an escape there in 30 years so they must be doing something right! McMichelob should be more worried about dangerous felons being escorted out of our prison doors by the hand by our governor, only to reoffend within hours or day of their release.

Big group of recruits to start. will have to wait till 9.5 gets back from vietnam. wants to announce it so it coincides with obama's pledge to address gun crimes. gonna be two watches at academy days and afternoons. Staffing being addressed by hq.
Howard has a week to get dicks set up and then get schedule ready for recruits. No more sgt classes, list is gonna be closed.
Obama wants to look like he is doing something since fiscal issues are at stand still. DOJ money will appear to hire more police.

if this rumor is true, then Howard will be on sucicide watch. Currently, every classroom at the academy is filled with recruits. Next, Howard will order tents or mobile classrooms.
The academy so fucked up now. Every day, classes go without a instructor being assigned. Mccarthy has no idea how fucked up it is. But the recruits look good and that says it all. Smoke and mirrors, folks.

Oh the kids these days, when will they grow up?
Once upon a time, many of the older generation known as "old timers" or "revolversaurus" police had very similar feelings about the name tag though perhaps for different reasons.
Their solution was to always keep a stack of orange miscel-X card in their chest pocket. Coincidentally the cards were long enough that they stuck out of the chest pocket and covered the name tag. How convenient. No one bitched on the internet, they just carried their miscl-X cars where they could be grabbed and used in a hurry and also wore their name tags. One just happened to cover the other is all.

Right indeed, maybe I should have written more for certain people. Like vehicles should be registered with just first initial and last name only and leave off the drivers license off if you can get away with it, or just spouse's. It would take an official inquiry to get your home address for the Post Office and it would leave a paper trail. There are a lot of other perks to this that make the $52 a year fee well worth it. All my bills and subscriptions go there too.
Stay Safe. If it wasn't for junkmail and Christmas cards I'd never see my letter carrier at home.
