Closing on 50 Shootings

Eight days into the new year and we stand at just under 50 shootings (including the 5 tonight).

We've also counted an even dozen homicides.

That's a 200% increase over the same time frame last year.  We aren't ones to cherry-pick the numbers from a specific time frame in order to show the political administration in a bad light.....oh wait, that's exactly what they were doing all of 2012 to make CompStat look efficient.  Goose, gander, you know the rest.

But as someone in the comment section said:
  • Homicides are down I say we only have approx 10 so far, just a little over a week ago we had over 500 GMAC
 That's comedy gold right there.

Actually the numbers are low. We averaged about 8.5 people shot per day in 2012. 50 people shot at this point sounds a little low.

Chicago needs to start taxing these doctors and EMS techs for the number of people whose lives are not saved from these GSW.

It's the Chicago way,

These new taxes will provide the much needed revenue for the clouted no-bid city contractors. I mean if it creates just one more clouted contract, just one..than isn't it worth it?

OVER 50 SHOOTINGS?
How can that be? Chicago/Illinois have the toughest gun laws in the country, we don’t have a conceal carry in Illinois. Are all these shootings happening indoors? I glad that MY lawmakers are trying to fix this and make even stronger gun laws in Illinois, God bless them. Additionally, we should stop having elections in Illinois because we already have the ‘best of the best’. We could never do any better then who we already have in office.

(youtube) State Rep. Elaine Nekritz (D - Northbrook) tells a statehouse audience on 1-6-13 that there will be no assault weapons ban taken up during the closing days of the legislative session.

The people that you hear cheering at the end are mostly members of the Decatur Midwest Patriot Militia..

Nathan Moyer a member of the Decatur Midwest Patriot Militia had this to say after...(youtube)

Maybe we should send them support with a note of thanks for helping us standup for our rights??

The next session is only days off so you can bet this will resurface. However a win is a win. Keep those email boxes and voice mails to the state reps coming.

Dear SCC,

I know you are a lot smarter than I am and smarter than our bosses. Could you keep a count of how many people are shot week to week, then month to month, and the homicides? It would be real interesting to see what you have at the end of the year opposed to what the city call a death inv. or justifiable homie-cides. A homicide is a homicide.

Just a little favor I ask of you to see what you have at the end and what the city claims. You know its gonna be a rough and tough year.

Thanks

Unhappy 2nd watch loser.

Seriously, how can the hospitals handle all of these shootings night after night after night? How many get admitted and how many get a band-aid? The hospitals are the ones who should be screaming for McCentralCasting to be booted!

Notice there were no weekly news appearances by McDodo saying crime/murders/shootings are down! I wonder if it's possible to find out how many shooting victims there were in Afghanistan or Iraq last year as opposed to Chicago. I'm talking shooting victims, not homicides. Weren't there something like a couple thousand 'people' with extra holes in them last year in this city? Would be interesting.

Listen to the 9-1-1- call - Tied up at the moment

Cuffed priest granted leave

By Bruce Rushton

The pastor of St. Aloysius church on Springfield’s north end has been granted a leave of absence after he called 911 from the rectory and told a dispatcher that he needed help getting out of handcuffs.

“I’m going to need help getting out before this becomes a medical emergency,” Father Tom Donovan told a dispatcher who sounds a bit incredulous during the Nov. 28 call.

“You’re stuck in a pair of handcuffs?” the dispatcher asks.

“(I was) playing with them and I need help getting out,” Donovan responds.

Donovan told the dispatcher that he was alone in the rectory. It’s not clear exactly how he ended up in handcuffs or why he feared a medical emergency. His voice sounds garbled or muffled on the tape, and sources say that police discovered some sort of gag on the priest when they arrived.

The diocese has been tight-lipped about the matter, saying only that Bishop Thomas Paprocki granted Donovan’s request for a leave of absence at some point before Christmas. The diocese knows about the incident, given that Brad Huff, an attorney for the diocese, has been given a copy of the 911 tape by the Sangamon County Emergency Telephone System Department. Kathie Sass, spokeswoman for the Diocese of Springfield, said that the diocese also has a copy of a police report on the matter.

Sass would not disclose Donovan’s whereabouts or say whether he is staying at a church-affiliated location...more

McCarthy made a bold and scary prediction that citizens carrying legally could be shot by Chicago police as he reiterated his stance against arming legal citizens.

“You put more guns on the street expect more shootings,” McCarthy said. “I don’t care if they’re licensed legal firearms, people who are not highly trained… putting guns in their hands is a recipe for disaster. So I’ll train our officers that there is a concealed carry law, but when somebody turns with a firearm in their hand the officer does not have an obligation to wait to get shot to return fire and we’re going to have tragedies as a result of that. I’m telling you right up front.”

Now in CompStat and city-wide we count shootings and homicides per 100,000 people. This is complete chaos. Never before have I seen such number fudging as with these 3 Clowns. The Supt., Chief of Staff, and Chief of CompStat.

If they were all so loved and cherished why did NYPD let them leave. Why did the Mayor and Commissioner not offer them a higher title and more money?

They have destroyed the police department, specialized teams/units, moral, staffing, and each other.

Remember they will not be in charge forever and these other bosses need to stop worrying about loosing their Gold Stars and stop drinking the CompStat Koolaid because it is not working!

Just because 49 of 50 other states have concealed carry laws and they have fewer shootings and fewer murders than Illinois doesn't make them right. Illinois needs strict gun control laws and we will continue to be right no matter how many murders we have because, well, uh, uh, well just because, that is all. Rahm says crime is down no matter what the actual count is, dammit. We are right, gt it? No one else is. Just Illinois. That is why we have the worst financial situation of all 50 states and more murders, because we are right and they are not. Got it?

MCstupid says that we had over 500 murders last year and only 12 in 2013 so we have fewer in 2013 than in 2012 because he is pretty certain that 12 is a lot less than 500, but he is going to run the numbers past the scientist Carothers who he "kicked upstairs" just to make sure that the analytics match up properly. Also, he says thanks for all your hard work and dont expect to take any time off this year, or to be fully compensated with a pension if retiring. And go Irish! That is all Mcstupid said.

Also, 'Patterson replaces Ron Holt, the police officer father of Blair Holt, a 16-year-old gunned down in 2007 by a reputed gang member who opened fire on a CTA bus crowded with students on their way home from Julian High School. Ron Holt will shift his focus to victims assistance.

But I do hope there is a minimum training required for anyone who wants to CCW. There are a lot of good citizens who are too stupid to carry a weapon. Rahm would be one example. I am offended at the thought of a Maggie Daley park.
I am offended at Rahm Emanuel's continual obscene waste of taxpayer money.
But, 55 million is not going into a vacant lot.
$55 million is being spent to repair the existing Millenium Park, the garage roof/park over the garage, and to repair the incompetent and incomplete work done on that existing park space prior to its opening.
