Let's see, we're up to about 10 murders already, none committed by rifles or so-called "assault weapons," but look here at a disturbing trend politicians refuse to address:
- A 25-year-old woman was arrested early Sunday, suspected of fatally stabbing her mother during a domestic dispute in the South Chicago neighborhood.
Authorities found the 55-year-old mother had been stabbed multiple times when they responded to her home in the 8300 block of South Kingston Avenue about 6:45 p.m. Saturday night, authorities said.
- Chicago police were conducting homicide investigations after a man died a day after being stabbed during a fight and a 19-year-old man was fatally shot this evening on the South Side.
That's right - fully 20% of Chicago homicides have been committed with cutlery this year! And yet, Eddie Acevedo and his ilk continue their wrong headed war on "assault rifles." We can only assume they are being provided with political donations from Ginsu and their affiliated organizations. This would be an interesting series of articles for any media type - that is media types who aren't panty wearing sissies who actually dislike the taste of Rahm-ass noodles and can form an opinion based on facts and report the same thing.

Journal News Reporters Told They'll Be Shot Walking to Their Cars
After it published a map of handgun owners in two suburban New York counties, the Journal News may be the nation's most terrifying place to work as threats have been coming in against employees at every level, many of whom had nothing to do with the controversial feature.
Threatening notes and harassment have targeted everyone from Gracia C. Martore, the CEO of the Journal News's parent company Gannett, all the way down to the part-timers who write "wedding anniversary and church potluck announcements," staffers told The New York Times. It's the first account of the specific threats coming into the paper, other than the Journal News's own reporting on the two envelopes full of white powder that have been mailed to the office. When the paper hired armed security guards last week, an editor told police it had received "a large amount of negative correspondence."

"British doctors are calling for a ban on kitchen knives to prevent stabbing incidents. A West Middlesex University Hospital group contends that violent crime is increasing in Great Britain and kitchen knives are used in approximately half of all stabbings. The team claims that many of the knife attacks are impulsive acts and that a kitchen knife is too convenient of a weapon.
"The British medical team discussed the kitchen knife stabbing problem with a group of 10 renowned chefs, according to Front Page Mag. The United Kingdom chefs reportedly noted that kitchen knives have little practical application in culinary endeavors. Apparently, the cooking experts feel that a short blade works just as well as a long one when a sharp tip is needed.
"If the movement to ban kitchen knives in the United Kingdom is successful, the law will be the country’s second major attempt to thwart violence by passing new legislation. After experiencing mass shootings during the 1980s and 1990s, Great Britain instituted very strict gun laws to curtail violence.
"Laws on the books since the 1920s already mandated that any citizen wishing to own a firearm had to get permission from the local police station noting the individual was “fit” to own a gun and that a good reason existed for the weapon possession.
"Since 1969 self-defense was not a good enough reason to garner a gun ownership certificate, according to the Wall Street Journal. After a mass shooting in the town of Hungerford where 16 people were killed semiautomatic rifles were banned and shotguns were subjected to the same laws as rifles and pistols. It ought to be easy, there’s no Constitutional Amendment protecting our ability to own one or use one.

The month after winning the million dollars, Khan died unexpectedly on July 20. Finding no trauma to his body and no unusual substances such as cocaine or carbon monoxide in his blood, the Cook County medical examiner's office declared his death to be from natural causes. He was buried at Rosehill Cemetery.
But the Tribune has learned that Chicago police and county prosecutors are investigating Khan's death as a homicide.
In an interview, Medical Examiner Stephen J. Cina said that within a week of Khan's death a concerned relative asked his office to take a closer look at the case.
By early December, the medical examiner's office determined from comprehensive toxicology tests that Khan had died of a lethal amount of cyanide.

There is another scandal. There is a drop-case that made the news. Video is available and the city settled with the arrestee. And I know that
(1) we do not know what happened,
(2) we were not there,
(3) it is the arrestee's fault for getting arrested,
(4) I am the problem because I am talking about it,
(5) the officers who are involved are the real police, and
(6) there will be big changes on Friday.
But this scandal along with the detective's scandal underscore the need for some type of I.Q. test.

Hi there, I'm a British reader of this blog & concede we do have huge problems with knives. Being threatened with a knife is standard practice during confrontations across the full gamut of severity. It's become normal amongst youth to carry because "everyone else has one". I've done it myself.
Having been to Chicago last Sept I had the distinct feeling that things were somewhat more racially driven as mentioned by another post above. Here it is class, working class versus "little rich boys". Regardless, the same mindless violence is present, the smaller presence of firearms means more stabbings, lots of bottling going on as well, we've had to make drinks in clubs served in plastic cups now. In today's news it seems the new problem is stun guns being imported & somehow making it through customs. In some ways, the less 'severe' the weapon, the more common attacks become. When you know you're not going to kill someone when you stab them in the side for their phone, it's easier. Can see the headlines of people being stun gunned on buses for a laugh. If people want to use violent means they'll use the weapon most readily available. I don't profess to know the solution, I'm 21 for a start, but my peers are desensitized, better parenting & education would be a start.

Hillman is back on the streets with no shoes.
A few days after the viral photo was posted, The New York Times found Hillman barefoot again and asked about the $100 all-weather boots. Hillman said he'd hidden them because "they are worth a lot of money."
He said he's grateful for the gift, but he wants "a piece of the pie" because the photo was posted online "without permission." Looks like hes suing!

Hi there, I'm a British reader of this blog & concede we do have huge problems with knives. Being threatened with a knife is standard practice during confrontations across the full gamut of severity. It's become normal amongst youth to carry because "everyone else has one". I've done it myself.

I'm not coming on here to bash or make fun of anyone, but this is a complete joke. To say she was ever SWAT or anything even close is comical. How does CPD allow her to misrepresent herself? How does the Outdoor Channel put a show on without doing a fact or background check.
It's a HUGE insult to every officer that is on SWAT or has ever been on SWAT and it's an insult to every hard working officer that is a member of CPD.
She should be embarrassed and ashamed but apparently it's more important for her to get her name and face out there in the hope that she gets to star in a B rated movie someday.
It's a disgrace to portray oneself as an expert of something she clearly has no knowledge about.
It's one thing to shoot at paper targets and kick in doors in practice and play tactical games all day and promote yourself with short shorts, lots of makeup and your hair coiffed and lipstick bullets. It's another to actually be that SWAT or tact team member to kick in the real door with the real bad guy behind it waiting to shoot you.

These weapon's are singled fired weapons so if they place that law en place they basically just pushing a law that has languages to have wiggle room. A true Assault rifle is a fully automatic weapon system has nothing to do if there is a 10 20 or 30 round clip or a drum for that. So a common citizen can still buy a rifle that we use on patrol. We as police can not buy assault rifles in Illinois legally unless we have a class 3 fire arms license or ffl for those types. Or is an operator on a swat team.These politician don't know shit on firea'srms or guns! lol

I had a very liberal attorney tell me that blacks and whites commit crime on an even percentage. The only reason blacks are arrested at a higher rate is black communities are " over policed".With more of this very clear and progressive thinking I see progress in the very near future to solving the crime problem.
