Murders Down, CTA Violence Up

Of course, weather has nothing to do with it, but last February, we had a couple of 60 degree days that "facilitated" the efforts of shooters.  This year, a couple of decent snowstorms, lows near zero and highs below freezing....it cuts down on the mayhem.

  • With almost 20,000 CTA bus trips a day, tempers sometimes flare on a few of them. Regular users of the CTA know what an obstacle course it can be.

On the CTA's 1,200 rail cars, riders are often met with a variety of frightening encounters- from armed robbers and cell phone thieves to fist fights and shoving

Sometimes, shots are fired and people end up wounded or dead.

  • -There were more than 6,800 assaults, robberies, thefts and similar offenses.

-According to the statistics, you are twice as likely to become a victim on a CTA train or platform than on a bus or at bus stop.

-On average, 19 CTA passengers are victimized every day.
It's so bad, the CTA has budgeted $30 million to hire 50 off-duty cops every day.  But as far as we can tell, none of McOnTheRocks's boxes encompass any CTA platforms, so it doesn't exist.

And the liberals don't want to allow concealed carry on mass transit?

    This should be exhibit #1.

Ol Forest, the head of the CTA, was bragging about how all the camera's the CTA was installing is stopping this crime. He said so in that video you posted with the NRA man in it.

    What happened? More bullshit right?

This is the very reason CTA riders should be afforded the opportunity to protect themselves once CCW comes to Illinois.

People worry about crowded buses & trains, but that's not where the robberies, aggravated batteries, rapes & worse are occurring; they happen in deserted locations in & around CTA properties-people coming to/from work/school/etc. at 2 a.m.

    Let them protect themselves.

How about those "youths" that were picked up in 001 about 2 weeks ago for knocking out a white and Asian kid at the Roosevelt Redline? One of those "youths" ended up being charged with a Hate Crime. Anyone have that RD? No mention of this on news.

Come to Chicago and pay too much for everything, get attacked on the public transportation system and robbed and beaten by mobs downtown.

Brought to you by the Socialists of America.

    30% black
    15% hispanic

I'll bet 80% the victim's will be transferred to ARP for reports. The 20% will go to the hospital and be transferred to ARP for a report.

I'll just drive around in the beat car thinking everything is fine. Because I'll hear of any of this on the radio.
I find out more stuff from the blog and news than the department lately.

CTA has virtually no security. The guards in the booths are usually asleep and allow for homeless and gangbangers and druggies to jump the turnstiles. I've seen this so many times.

Why is the CTA so retarded to have 3 ft high turnstiles?? They should be like other big city's and have ceiling high, iron gates to prevent people from sneeking in. I tell my friends if they are ever robbed or assaulted to sue the crap out of the CTA.

Yeah! Lot of good Police do riding stinky, half filled buses, asking a crabby busdriver for their name and badge numbers, for filling out a stupid, outdated humper that go in a garbage can in a few days!

HINT: CTA already knows who is working out here!

But, an 8 car train full of people coming into a train station with no police around! No wonder shit happens at train stations!

Just plain stupid deployment by bossses who forgot how to be the police!

Stop whinning! The Cameras will catch the Bad Guys. N.Y. has thousands of cops assigned to their subways. Chicago has less than 200 assigned to cover both trains and buses. I actually bought my daughter a car, with insurance and Obama $5 a gal. gas expenses rather than have her ride CTA.

Used to be you could exit trouble by moving to another car -- now the doors won't open at the ends of the car, and there is no way to contact the motorman from inside a car. When it's you and the thugs, it's up close and personal. Your cell will not work well in the subway.

Me, I carry bear spray. Haven't yet had to use it but imagine the collateral damage. Probably send everybody in the car to the hospital.

All the officers working CTA special are being sent to ride buses on the south side and trains on the redline south of 47th. Which leaves everything else wide open for the bad guys to snatch and punch freely. So when your family members are on public transportation downtown or up north just remind them that all the police are protecting the south side just fine.

I take midnight rides on the Red Line between 95th St. and Howard St. just to relax. My pulse goes down to 50 bpm.

The Blue Line is another outstanding ride. My favorite scenic bus routes are the 20 and the 79.

Get rid of all politicians and lets get some people in their positions that give a damn about the decent people in Chicago. That pencil neck can brag about all the camera's in the world ,we need boots on the ground. The current administration can't seem to manage this.Conceal carry is the only thing standing between us and Detroit. We had better see we get it.

A Loyola University study showed that CTA L-Subway patrons were being robbed about one block from the station, as they walked home. That statistic never shows up as CTA crimes, but it is, and if counted would make CTA-related crime look much worse. The hunters lay in wait for their prey, and there is no one to stop them. This is one more reason why CTA patrons should be allowed to protect themselves.

The worst thing is that nobody wants the CTA to receive funds to extend its train lines farther into suburbia. In Skokie, some folks were upset when a new platform was added near Skokie Boulevard and Oakton to allow the criminals easier access to their community.

I cannot imagine the crimes that may result from the plan to extend the CTA Red Line to 130th Street.

    A CTA tip:

The boring north half of the Blue Line to O'Hare is for pussies. Try the Lake St. Green Line between Oak Park and 63rd and Ashland in Englewood.

    It's a real blast!

In the short run, we need more police. In the long run, we need family responsibility, personal responsibility, a modicum of decency and rudimentary manners. We need parenting, not breeding. And we need a government that knows the difference between a hand up and a handout.

my parents live in skokie, skokie used to be a very nice community until they allowed 5,000 shitheads to move here and get section 8 housing after katrina, crime rate tripled. now they build a new station at oakton and skokie blvd so the shitheads can get off there. what they should do is eliminate the yellow line so the shit heads have to stay on the south side and not come out to the suburbs. dont need shit out here.
