Another Police Shooting (UPDATES)
- A man was shot and killed after he fired a gun at Chicago police early Saturday morning in Albany Park on the city's Northwest Side.
The man was driving east on Wilson Avenue about 2:55 a.m. and hit an SUV as he crossed Kimball Avenue before hitting several other parked cars and coming to rest in the middle of the block.
An unmarked police SUV was behind it – it's not clear whether in pursuit or just following – and the car's driver fired out of his car toward police after the car stopped perpendicular to the parked cars on each side of Wilson.
Two officers suffered minor injuries diving out of the line of fire. An excellent job all around.
UPDATE: Usually reliable reporter Peter Nickeas falls into the typical liberal Chicago media trap of calling the attempted murderer of police officers a victim though:
- Dan Gamboney, 63, was inside his SUV driving east on Wilson Avenue after having stopped at McDonald's. He saw the car "flying" toward him from the west side of Kimball Avenue and pulled close to the curb to avoid it – but he was still sideswiped.
Gamboney said the victim's car then bounced off a few others.
Assailants of citizens and police officers are not "victims." They are criminals, assailants, offenders.
UPDATE: The Tribune post has been corrected, removing the inappropriate word "victim" from the narrative. Hat's off to Mr. Nickeas once again for being one of the only reporters who seems to get it.

Excellent work! What's disturbing is that the scum element is keen on getting into shootouts, please stay safe.
When I first read the story in the Trib, it threw me when I ran across the word "victim". Nickeass can't be very bright, confusing who the victims are and who the offender is. I think an apology and retraction are in order. Maybe he should go back to his old job at Burger King.
nice job police.thanks for keeping the neighborhood safe.glad this ahole is dead.
Wt this isn'tsupposed to happen in a place where there is no VRI.........or maybe we are just displacing crime.
I've confronted Peter Nickeas in past re similar mistake in a story- turns out he's very supportive of CPD and goes to great lengths to pprovide coverage where there didn't used to be any coverage, especially stories involving the attempted murder of Chicago Police Officers. Obviously he has to follow his editors' rules of covering both sides of a story. But, I'd be willing to bet this poor phrasing is probably a slip-up/poor editing not on his part even though the byline's his- he doesn't always get to see the online version of what he sends off for publication. And, no, I'm not Peter Nickeas-I'm from CPD family.
If he's a victim, then someone at Merriam Webster needs to change the definition.
Today, there is such a total disregard for law enforcement, and yet the 'powers that be' aim to disarm the law-abiding citizens! I'm glad to hear the officers will be okay, and I'm also glad to hear the cocksucker got ventilated!
Stay safe, Chicago's Finest!
Suck it, Geiger!
He seems to have revised his earlier report, doesn't say 'victim's'.
Stay safe-
WELL DONE OFFICERS! We are glad you are safe. We appreciate your hard work and efforts.
The Majority of the Citizens of Chicago
If you are dumb enough to shoot at anyone, especially the police you get what you deserve. I hope shithead dies so we are relieved of another non tax paying taker. You shot at the police, now take this. Glad officers are okay.
Not CPD, just a friend of.
What do you expect from a media that is mostly all commie's.Not only are they liars but they are people who can't think for themselves, not like the old police reporters who knew how to address crime and criminals.
It seems in the liberal world,if the police are involved, all others are victims..WTF
It looks like all the shooters are in a hurry to do their damage before regular citizens can defend themselves with concealed carry. Their afraid that it will be too dangerous for them to cause mayhem soon. Stay safe out there C.P.D.
In fairness to Nickeas I believe he was quoting what the 63 year old guy called the offender.
Take the next few days off to decompress Officers! You did just fine!
And now dead. Good job officers!
Great job officers stay safe... off topic anyone look at sun times report by mary mitchell on demanding aldermans and reverends and the public to react against the gangs killing of that baby. Wow what a difference makes of a few postings on her ignorance to write bad reports against the police during one of the articles of that babys killing. Hey Mary don't do an article just to keep your job do it and write it with the truth behind how the black community is the blame for these killings not whites, hispanics, police, govn't, or anyone and everyone else you feel is the blame! and beleive me im no fan of you but it did catch my attention to read something that has so much truth to it!
God bless the CPD great work guys and stay safe. A BIG F-CKYOU media.
Please be careful out there. To all CPD thank you. The Devil never sleeps.
I had the opportunity to meet Nickeas at a 0110 scene in 015. He's a great writer and he isn't a 'typical liberal reporter', far from it.
Even if you don't hear it from other sources, your peers acknowledge and applaud your brave efforts.
Yet another example of 'Chicago's Finest.' Nice Job, Po-lice!
At least 3 people shot, man claiming to have been shot in the 3300 block of north Harlem, and police shot a suspect on the 3300 block of Wilson.
Looks like we need to ban the number 3... seems to be the common denominator!!
If the Mayor gave a rats ass about officer safety, he's stop the bullshit, stop the lies, and hire the couple thousand officer we're currently short. Makes no sense paying 400 plus officers time and a half to babysit every corner in the ghetto with a stationary post. Meanwhile your and my families neighorhoods go unprotected.
What a guy will do for some days off!LoL!
In fairness to Nickeas I believe he was quoting what the 63 year old guy called the offender.

Great writer? He often seems more interested in imparting a certain tone to his stories than he does in telling us what happened. Since he obviously has no decent editors to guide him, he'll end up at a tabloid like the New York Post.
"A man was shot and killed after he fired a gun at Chicago police early Saturday morning in Albany Park on the city's Northwest Side."
GOOD.
Fuck this asshole.
Ofc. never look back. Good job, and thank God no decent people were hurt.
As you can tell, reservoir of "sympathy" is bone-dry here, cracked mud with fish skeletons and old cans on the bottom.
...and call Streets and San to clear that inevitable mess of liquor bottles and teddy bears and crap off the sidewalk. "Attractive nuisance," might be "focal point for retaliations," etc. Garbage one-world-one-thug mindless anti-culture go back in the shoplifted DVD box it came from.
What can you say about people who walk around holdin a shoe polish bottle and hoping someone will cause a tiny scuff so they can kill that person?
Makes no sense paying 400 plus officers time and a half to babysit every corner in the ghetto with a stationary post.

Sure it does, according to a shithead like Emanuel.
He doesn't have to pay any medical OR a pension match for new coppers.
All he has to do is throw you an extra 17.50 an hour and he's got another minion doing his bitchwork for him.
And then he laughs at you.
Glad the officers are ok and going home to safe to their families. Good job by all involved
Great job. We all need to go to the range more often and practice. Seems like more people are willing to shoot at the police. Since this department offers little to no training we need to seek it out ourselves. Again, great job office.
Good job, screw the media and Geiger

I couldn't agree more! Nickeas tries his best to keep things in perspective but he doesn't always get his way. I'm sure his bosses have screwed up an article or five of his!

Obviously the mayor does not give a rat's ass about our safety but we are supposed to risk our lives to ensure his safety and that of his wife and children.
Fuck Rahm.
There really are NO police on the North Side. These districts are so short staffed compared to 7 years ago that it is scary.
It does benefit rham to have people working ot rather than hire new P.O.s Benefits

The wicked flee when no pursues.
Proverbs 28:1
Excellent work by the CPD Officers. Get well soon. Thank you for keeping our neighborhoods safe. I'm always glad to see you around.
The asshole won't be creating any more mayhem. Good riddance.
We need more CPD Officers on the Northwest Side, it's getting more dangerous every day. When are we going to get more new CPD hires Mayor Emanuel? When are you going to stop the stupidity about law abiding citizens arming themselves? Concealed carry now.
9-Frank
What else for us, Squad?
Never trust a fed.
Much less the lame stream media!
Good job men! Now enjoy those days off!

Fair reporting is all we should hope for. We typically get that from Nickeas. He is not like, oh, one-way Mary Mitchell for instance.
This is way too close to my pretty loft for comfort.
Now, Kees me you fool!!!!
Wouldn't be surprised if some libtard editor changed it without his knowledge.
Scc,
I read the article and was irate when I came across the word "victim", I immediately wrote an email to the writer. The writer responded fairly quick and he stated he didn't say the offender was a victim. A few minutes later he then sends me another email and states that he does see that word and that it was not what he has sent to copy. To his credit he said it would be corrected immediately.
