Police Shooting

  • Police shot and killed a gun-wielding man after responding to a call of a domestic dispute in the East Garfield Park neighborhood on the West Side early Thursday morning, authorities said.

An officer shot the 58-year-old man after he refused to drop an "automatic assault weapon," police said in a statement. He died at the scene, according to the Cook County medical examiner's office.

The daughter of the man's girlfriend had called police shortly before 2:30 a.m. and said there was a domestic dispute and the man had a gun, police said.

The girlfriend initially waved off police from the first-floor entry to the apartment, which is located above a convenience store. But her daughter appeared in the upstairs window and told officers to come up the stairs, police said.

When they entered, the man appeared from behind a door holding a handgun, similar to TEC 9 or MAC 11 pistols, authorities said.

An officer shot the man twice after he raised the gun toward police, according to police union spokesman Patrick Camden at the scene.
Excellent job officers.

Do we know if it was a fully automatic MAC-11 machine pistol or just a mean looking semi-auto lookalike? TEC-9's were never manufactured in full auto, just semi-auto (one pull, one round). It's irresponsible to put out a statement that the weapon was "an automatic assault weapon" without knowing for sure, which it's evident News Affairs didn't since one of the listed possible weapons was never manufactured in full auto. In all probability it was a mean-looking 9mm (TEC-9) or .380 ACP (MAC-11A1) semi-auto pistol.

In any event, when confronted with either the right choice is to neutralize the target. Good job officer. Glad that all are safe.

One question: where did the phrase "automatic assault weapon" come from? It is said to be from a police source but I wonder.

I gotta throw the BS flag on this one. Those types of "automatic assault weapons" are illegal to own in Chicago and highly restricted in other places. So there is no way this guy had one.

Legal notice was sitting on my desk this morning. Department is being sued for "practice of detaining citizens without their consent for the purpose of filling out contact cards to gather data to use in future investigations. On information and belief, this policy has led to the violation of thousands of citizen's constitutional rights." See 12C6834, John Hall, et al v. City of Chicago, et al. Another of Gary's policies gonna cost the city big bucks. Got to at least meet the burden of a Terry Stop to do a contact card folks.

To every good citizen in Chicago. The Chicago Police Deparment cannot protect you. In 17 years I have never seen it so bad!!!! The Chicago Police Department has been destroyed!!!! Take a look at our squad cars. Take a look at the resources being deployed to ghetto areas and our communities being left without police coverage. What is the answer good citizen? Concealed Carry Permit which will be passed June 2013. Arm yourself. Arm your wife. Teach your kids to shoot. It will only be a matter of time before the beast crosses the line and attacks the areas that are not being patrolled. The Mayor and the Superintudent are lying to you. This is not a safe city. It's out of control. You have been warned. All the resources from this department are being placed in savage land. You know the ones that kill 6 month old babies. Or kill little girls that visit Obamas Inaugration. Or let's see, they shoot at cops. Rob your iPhones on the trains. CPD has been forced to drive around in circles in 5 block radius for8 hours so shootings don't occurr. That's five cars for every Violent Zone. You think your getting that type of Police High Visibility. Sorry, but the city will take your taxes and spend millions of dollars in the ghetto. So in fact good citizens of Chicago you are paying an extra 50 million dollars a year so the savages don't kill themselves and the money is not going into your community. Good job for all the idiots that voted for Obama. You see he did spread the wealth around. He's taking money from the working man and making sure that there is plenty of police resources in the ghetto areas where the verge citizen doesn't ave a job, wakes up around noon, staying up till 3 am. Never owned a pair of work boots and guess what. The savage knows his area is hot so what is he gonna do? Jump on the train and get off in your neighborhood and begin burglarizing your place. Don't worry though the police won't come out to take a report cause its a property crime and were too busy in savage land. So even if physical evidence is left behind like fingerprints nothing will get processed. Gd forbid your kid is home from school and the savage attacks. You see it's a Domonio affect that the good law abiding citizens will end up being the victims. That savage will now move up to Aggravated Battery or a Homicide because your child was home and CPD failed to take any action earlier in the savage's criminal career. By not processing burglaries the savage gets away with more. Only answer Buy a GUN and carry it with you all the time.

Heh... The Police show up and old girl is in front (predictably so) trying to wave them off?

Trying to keep that good dick of the moment from getting hauled off or kilt by The Police because she KNOWS he's a fuckin' Hammer-Head M/Fer...

Here... Another "template" from the "Unofficial Like A Muthafuckah Big-Assed Bible of Urban Policing"

"The Stupid Bitch Who Called The Police Trying To Protect The No-Good Hammer-Head M/Fer She Called The Police On FROM The Police"

Cue: Somebody hollerin' and wavin' from an upper story window - "Dis muhfukkah actin' all CRAZY an shit up in heah AN' he got a gun too!"

This can actually be filed under the "Call It What It Is" thread a few topics down...

See the post@

"...There comes that chilling basso voice echoing through the courtyard... You shake the crappy vestibule door open and hope you make the three flights up before you hear the shriek..." (Or before you hear the shooting start.)

Mmmm-Hmmm... Taking those rickety, break-a-leg stairs three at a time... The .45 is already out and you or your partner put the "micro-burst" on the radio that makes EVERY POLICEMAN'S HEART SKIP A BEAT!
"GetussomefuckingcarshereNOWSQUAD!"

Once you hit that apartment...

Call It What It Is...

"Who the hell are you to relate this dialogue just because you heard it (seen it) everyday for like thirty years?"

Hand To The Almighty... You people out there in comfy civilian land cannot BEGIN to fathom the things Policemen have to go through and ENDURE on this job.

Irony... It's SO EASY to shit-talk, disrespect, demean, disenfranchise and second guess the very people sworn to hold an intentionally diminished line between some semblance of order and every man to himself, his conscience and his God.

The cynical, bitter and vengeful side of The Policeman sometimes wishes for the latter just for the mean satisfaction of seeing all others, especially the "joyful haters" having to finally, at the very end; fend for themselves with no one to scream for.

Heh... Every adult alive should have to fight for their very lives at least three times before they close their eyes on this world.

But for the sake of Providence and inspired men... Such is not the case.

Things like "Law" and "The Police" are in place to stave off a nightmare scenario like this.

Right?

Good job by The Police in protecting themselves and going home to their families and loved ones on one piece.

We love when the shit-assed politicians are denied every opportunity to lie, fake cry and speechify in front of bright camera lights only to laugh up their sleeves when we lovingly and prayerfully give one of our own back to the Good Mother Earth.

It's The Police who are "out of control" in this city. Right?

It's The Police who are the enemy. Right?

It's The Police who have to endure de facto third class citizenship in a city so dependent on their sacrifice of years off their lives, blood, sweat and tears?

Chicago is spoiled and very unfairly blessed to have even under 10,000 Men & Women who suit up and go.

They ain't perfect.

But they're all you got.

*Whither The Police? What are they up to? What are they thinking? We must know!*

Heh... Viva... Viva Hate...
Right?

That's fine. The Police will answer the call. It's their duty...

It HAS to be SOMEBODY'S duty...
Right?

Officers, please do a search in E-track for machine guns. See how many are recovered each year.

It behooves you to make sure it's a full-auto when you go to court. If it's not,(and VERY few are), it makes you look like a fool.

If it is,by all means, get BATFE involved and get federal charges.

-This was a police shooting, offender dead, no charges. As for the term assault weapon, that was the media, it was a crime lab job, officers did not handle any weapons. It looked like a Tec and media labeled it a machine style gun
