Open Post

Yes, we know what weekend it is.

Things that don't involve FOP lawyers.

Mike Madigan keeps running these test votes on Thursdays. Part of it is to embarrass Tom Cross and some of it is to let Rahm know who is boss.

I just got a bad feeling in the pit of my stomach that one of these days when everyone is complacent he puts thro a whole package to fuck us.

Any thoughts?

To all; our retirement future, being held in a political battle in both Springfield and Chicago, is one of our most important lifelines after we're retired. I'm sure this is scaring not only the retirees but all those contemplating retirement becuase they are so so close to the end. This should never be an option to negotiations but something to enjoy as a promised benefit to those of us that have served. Live in STL. When people from Saint Louis won't visit Chicago b/c of the "undertow" you know you have problems.
Last trip: Suite at Allorton. Maryland Seafood House @ Drake. Dropped two large on shopping. On a Saturday night it was the first warm night of the year. Honor roll kids were representing. Holding Johnson's, packing the sidewalks, watched a woman with a stroller having to navigate through the crowd. F this and F that. Throwing soda bottles at each other. This weird parade would ensue , a couple of "females" would walk down the sidewalk and the "males" would ook and eeek and fight each other over the best place to watch. Saw heavy LEO. A few on horseback. I'm ok with people gathering and enjoying themselves, but this assembly was clearly a celebration of honor roll- edness. We, the spenders and producers, were a minority that evening and suffered the onslaught of sub human group think. I live in the City if Saint Louis. CCW. Know all about situational awareness. We used to look forward to indulgent Chicago weekends. I can't justify leaving this hell hole, spending money and taxes on a destination and feeling like civilization has lost... My condolences to you in LEO who have to deal with this everyday.

Shields ran for office both Pension Board and FOP on a reformer platform. Shields promised that all fiduciary dealings would be above board and transparent.

This is not and has not been the case with this admisnistration. It is time that we demand a forensic audit of the FOP.

I keep hearing that over $500,000USC of our dues monies, were paid out in legal fees and out of court settlement costs, in relation to the Geiger sexual misconduct caper.

This is INSANE!

The FOP President does not need to be driving pimped out Escalades on our dime either.

Just wondering and thinking...why when a CPD officer is involved in a shooting incident, I never see a CPD Superintendent, Deputy Superintendent, or any high up giving the media a statement.

Don’t they realize that these events are traumatic, and that a little support along with feeding the media some useful info on the event will go a long way with everyone?

My God, we are the police. We carry weapons to protect citizens and ourselves. We have arrest powers. This stuff happens in our line of work unfortunately.

I see the FOP has hired a spokesperson, which is great, but still your own command doesn’t speak a word on an officer involved shooting? That is wrong.

What horrible leadership and support to CPD officers. I hope my department would show some support in a shooting incident.

I realize not every shooting scene is “perfect”, but still show some support to the officers. Especially when an officer, in fear of his life, has no choice but to shoot.

Or am I living in a dream world?

3/16/2013 02:54:00 AM

I congratulate you on most likely being promoted, but you are going to be entering more of a shitstorm than ever before. My ex-husband (we had an amicable divorce) became a sgt. and right afterward he started sounding like an asshole describing his troops and bitching about this and that, stuff he used to do himself.

I told him he sounded like an asshole (and maybe I threw jackass in there too) and that he'd better remember where he came from and how to treat people.

I think they somehow brainwash you a bit in sgt's school. After I told him he was acting like a jackass, he lightened up and spent a few good years as a sgt. and I think his troops did too. His head got big and once it was deflated, he came back to earth.

Please, no cracks about how I saved him, or blah, blah, blah. I just told him the truth. Never, ever, ever, forget where you came from. Never, ever, forget to treat your troops well.

You can still be an effective leader without being an asshole.

Good luck to all of you who make it. Worst job in the dept. right now.

And as always, stay safe all.

3/16/2013 12:27:00 AM

I posted that I would propose such a motion and did get a response, but I'm not sure if the response meant that if I stood at the podium and proposed a motion and that it was seconded, then whether the FOP would vote on removing Geiger or the attendees would.

I will try to look up the Robert's Rules or Order, but I don't want to get up there on shaky ground, or without knowing what I'm doing, just to be roundabouted.

I've been working so much overtime I can barely think.

Any responses, please no sarcasm. I'm trying to do the right thing. I don't need you to tell me to look it up myself. What I WOULD appreciate it is somebody spelling it out to me a little more is possible.

Don't know about "the greatest..."

Jamesons and Bushmills are for people who just don't know better...

Try Michael Collins if you can find it...

The city fought tooth and nail to get it out of the SGT's contract, they were pretty staunch on it being gone completely from what I have been told. The 2% contribution by the retiree was the best that could be negotiated. I would not be suprised if it does go the way of the dodo.

The 011 District 2nd watch is about to loose more veteran and hard working officers in the recent bid postings. I have talked to several of them and their main reason for leaving is LT Jack Ass. What other signs does Commander Washington need to have to transfer this douchebag out of the district. He has ruined what used to be a great watch with his lack of leadership and bad attitude. By bringing his personal life issues with to him to work and not leaving them at home is a major problem. No wonder the watch did not have a watch party for over a year. No one would show up if he organized it or showed up.

Good luck to those who will be successful bidders as you have escaped the Jack Ass.

3/16/2013 04:46:00 PM

OK, here are a few for thought, just because I like keep track of the downward spiral of this department:

From the DOC OSA #2013-OSA-041
(portions redacted due to being LES and FOUO)

"The people in the XXX district WAS GOING TO BECOME like the XXX side and begin shooting at XXX"
(This sentence was not written as a direct quote from the offender)
If it were, it would have been OK.

From the DOC OSA#2013-OSA-049
"The detective division indicates that the FREQUENCY OF ROBBERIES occuring AT BUSINESSES selling W,X,Y and Z ARE BEING TARGETED."

WTF does that mean? Frequency of robberies...are being targeted.
Huh?

And, finally this gem from "Management rights selection process for FTO's":

Two (2) letters of Recommendation from active MEMBERS WHO HAS SUPERVISED the officer within the last five (5) years.

Anyone who puts this stuff out pass HS English class?

So can we really bring a motion to remove geiger from his position at an fop metting? I think thos would be a good move. Anyone know the real answer

3/16/2013 03:07:00 PM

Any member can make a motion and have it seconded and get a vote of those attending taken right there but I do not think it is binding on the President. Executive privelege who to hire in the office. But it would send a message and would get documented and would make it hard for Shields to keep the guy.

As for retro and the letter, any new dictrict commander knows better than to clean house on the first day. Not before he finds out the lay of the land and who knows what.

Shields cleaned house of everyone who knew how to run the office first day and then had to wing it with everything. Most civilians owe their loyalty to their paycheck. New regime, so what, they need to make a living. Mary Pat knew the contract, knew how to conduct FOP elections and generally ran shit for Donahue. Shields cans her, and she was good and then Mike brought in a goofy woman who he later fired.

Dougherty and Aguilar and Dimaria had been there through several contracts and should have known better regarding this mysterious letter. The best thing Shields could have done was to own up to the screw up and make it right. Not do the tap dance "we got it in on time, yabba dabba doooo."

I don't know why but I seem to recall knowing the 55 and free health insurance was a one time offer. Perhaps because it was not a negotiated part of contract, and it was explained as such.. Based on how the city wanted a certain number of officers by certain dates, I think that showed us plenty that this was a one time thing.

Also if u recall HR bitch told the media she wants a diversified young department. So the 55 offer got rid of a bunch of us old hags.

Would you want any of these merit-cloutorious buffoons speaking to the media concerning your shoot? Even if they did try to be verbally supportive, there is a big chance they would cause more harm than good.

On the flip side, if they were not trying to support you, they are only go to bury you in hopes of making themselves look good.

And, why do you think Pat Camden retired? He did not want to go. Department civilians with decision making authority no longer wanted him speaking positively to the media about the involved officers, the incident and the department, so they neutralized him by mandating only IPRA would speak to the media and that IPRA would only say the incident was under investigation.

Say whatever you want about Mike Shields, but hiring Pat Camden to speak up for us and utilizing Mark Donahue in Springfield, makes him one smart fucking cookie.

Is it possible you could be that stupid? 500? Give me a break. The academy currently is at capacity and no way could they handle more than 50 sgts at a time.

I am sure they were being facetious.

Soon we will have concealed carry in this state, one way or the other; It will be fun to see poppa Rahm Emanuel and his side kick explain why the death rate has fallen in chicago, in the 1st 6 months.

3/17/2013 01:43:00 AM

that rate won't fall, sonny, it will take a precipitous rise, amongst a demographic well deserving of speedy demise.

Say whatever you want about Mike Shields, but hiring Pat Camden to speak up for us and utilizing Mark Donahue in Springfield, makes him one smart fucking cookie.

3/17/2013 12:28:00 PM

No, it makes him a guy who made ONE good decision.

If U feel so bad for your friends you shoulda stayed on the job ace. Fuck them if they wern't smart enough to take advantage when they could. The option was up for 5 years now GONE. Shields has the right to to choose the attorney that he wants , to represent him. Any motion, even if it were to pass, is not binding. From where I sit, Geiger has done nothing wrong. He was sued once and it was settled, and he was the victim of a frivolous lawsuit which was dismissed as being without merit it's first time up. Has anybody out there been the target of a bogus lawsuit? Then you know how it feels. Support the FOP. It's the only chance that we have at stopping the theft of our pensions. Don't believe everything you read on this blog. SCC does his best, but remember that our enemies also read and post here. Pleines for example. Stay together. Stay strong.

Rifle, pistol & shotgun (slugs or shot). Can handle just about anything most would shoot. Haven't been there yet, but I've heard it's very nice. Non members $20/hr, members $10/hr. New pistol range coming along in McHenry as well. Gotta more that I don't know about, the whole state ain't like Chicago

3/16/2013 04:30:00 PM

It's called "On Target" very nice, very clean, very safe. No riff raff or idiots.

.............

When I went through the academy in the early 90's we 7 classes of 130 recruits and a class of 120 sgt's in there at the same time. I doubt the academy is at capacity.

It was two good decisions. Hiring Camden was one and the other was to utilize Donahue in Springfield, instead of freezing him out and pay him for doing nothing, as some would have done.

The academy is at capacity as related to the staff on hand. They do not have the people to simultaneously run classes for new hires and classes for a massive amount of promotions.

Which is a return to previous policy...so am guessing whatever future merit picks needed to enroll in a "differently" accredited school have recieved theirnonsense degrees

At tomorrow's FOP meeting, FOP better provide its members with the truth about the letter Shields forgot to mail and Geigher-Gate.

Tomorrow is the day to be heard loud and clear by FOP. Enough is enough. I'm tired of our union dues being misappropriated to pay for parking tickets, dining on extravagant steak dinners at Ruth Chris, buying Hawks tickets and wasting money on golf outings.

If no one says anything, then we deserve what we get. We're nothing more than "mushrooms" who sit in the dark and get fat.

I don't know about the FOP Board, but I want my retro! I want my retro! I want my retro!

Vote no confidence tomorrow for our futures!

He's one of the biggest crooks in Illinois.....but we keep voting him in...

Watch out in the 016th District. There is a M/B and F/B in a green Dodge van Il license P934547 taking pictures of POs houses.Every time they are confronted they take off.The M/B driver has a long sheet and several convictions.Recently seen and confronted around Lawrence West of Cumberland and around Foster and Canfield.Probably seeing FOP and other Police stickers and looking to hit the houses for guns etc.In one instance a POs house was hit around the same time they were spotted.Be proactive and grab these Mother Fuckers before they hit.

POs house hit on friday near belmont and ottawa during the day. lots of stuff missing
