You Know What Might Have Worked?
- Lake County Sheriff Mark Curran said that a Mundelein man killed his ex-girlfriend on the street in front of her father’s Antioch home this morning, then escaped to a nearby trailer where he committed suicide.
Curran identified the victim as Diane Kephart, 57, of Vernon Hills, and said that she recently had taken out and renewed an order of protection against her ex-boyfriend Paul Neff, 57, of the 1900 block of West Lakeview Avenue in Mundelein.
Neff had been charged with aggravated battery in a Feb. 17 incident involving Kephart, Curran said. Two days later, she filed an order of protection, according to the sheriff. That order expired March 12, he said, the same day Kephart filed to have it renewed for another two years.
An order of protection, though, “is a piece of paper,” Curran said. “It does not (stop) a person who is hell-bent on destruction and, ultimately, on murder.”
But Illinois, in it's wisdom, denied this woman the opportunity to defend herself, unless she happened to carry a police officer in her pocket. Or anyone else the chance to help, unless they actively broke the law.
Quite frankly, we'd recommend breaking the law.

DHS say's she should of used scissors on her attacker and some politicians say she should of stabbed him with a ball point pen. Joe Biden said she should of fired a shotgun in the air two times.
Whyyyyyyyy?
Common sense would dictate that people who obtain orders of protection be given the option of being trained and licensed to conceal carry.
That they are not is just amazing.
Many laws protect the criminals and make law abiding citizens criminals.
Nobody will protect you better then you protecting yourself.
And I believe the offender used a knife. If the crazies can't get a gun out come the knives, hammers, two by fours, bricks, boiling lye...
Oh I forgot the sword used last night in River Forest in a rape...

Paper,call-boxes,whistles,etc. are the Democrat's prevention methods.
Don't forget the "teach men not to rape" or "vomit on your attacker" self-defense techniques favored by them also.
If anyone thinks of a way to communicate with a Democrat, please let me know. I'm out of ideas. I've stopped wasting my time talking to them.
I would not mind being in a lot of women's pockets.
Mr.Curran is a democratic that is pro-2nd ammendment.even went to IGOLD
to speak.which i have NO doubt put sen. terry link and the others in a hissy fit. he "swims" against the tide and defiantly not your "run of the mill" kool-aid drinkers.
I'm a woman who couldn't fight her way out of a wet paper bag, yes I'd gladly have Mr. Glock protect me any time. I just make sure I have a little legal friend called F.O.I.D.
Great Post, and so true.
Heard a female p/o from 17 got cr# on 18th dist. p/os and sgts over an incident in a Rush st bar where her seriously drunk daughter got into a fight. The daughter was staggering and obnoxious and was the one who should have been locked up. The mother demanded that the w/c make an arrest and was finally told to stop calling the district making demands. Anyone verify?
I bet her Victim Information Notice would have saved the day
A perfect example - Illinois waging a war against women......See Mary Shepard in Shepard Vs. Madigan. June 9th can't come fast enough!
Oh, either fire both barrels into the air or fend off attackers with a pair of scissors. Doesn't that work anymore?
Nunmbskull politicians & judges.
Boy do I agree with you. Protect yourself and break the law if need be. The purpose of a CCW is to be able to protect yourself when your life is in immediate danger. So this woman's death can haunt the dumbocrats who simply want to control the sheeples of IL. Actually they will not be haunted because there to corrupt and self absorbed to care.
Again, break the law and protect yourself until IL joins the USA and recognizes the 2nd amendment.
MS
When judges fail to enforce the laws on the books, this is the result. All too often, we see many judges giving out I-bonds, low bonds to offenders who should stay behind bars, no incarceration when it is clearly in order, and failure to deliver consequences for violating orders of protection. The victims of the criminal justice system are victimized again, sometimes fatally, and yet many of these liberal judges do nothing about it.
Too bad that the Tribune did not allow comments on this one-I guess because they can't blame it on NRA "minions".
This is a horrible shame! If she gets a gun and saves her own life, the state would still make her a felon. What a fucked up state.
Maybe they can charge the carcass with a violation of order of protection?
How tragic. But these citizens and politicians believe a piece of paper, issued by a judge, will end the domestic problem.
Wrong
The only " protection " an order of protection can provide is if it's wrapped around a 4" barrel " smiff & weston ", otherwise its just asswipe.
Ladies & gentleman, defend yourselves, preferably with a firearm, but if it's a bat, brick, beer bottle, or knife, do something other than waving a piece of paper.
Again for the record, when seconds count, the police are minutes away....that's if they can leave their " box ".
As Thomas Hobbes, the English philosopher, wrote 350 years ago:
"...covenants, without the sword, are but words and of no strength to secure a man at all.
Therefore, ... if there be no power erected, or not great enough for our security, every man will and may lawfully rely on his own strength and art for caution against all other men."
I was on the blue line yesterday going to court, standing room only and saw Mr. Joe with a 2 seater
with his leg up not letting anyone sit there. I squeezed my way to him politely tapped his leg with a rolled up magazine and gave him the move your fukin leg or ill break it look. he saw my cpd dickie and moved and said sorry. I can feel the eyes in the cabin going woe. for the ride I was sitting pretty. goes to show you how many sheeple there are on a train and there were more when I got off it. sad
All officers will turn in their duty weapons and be issued a air of scissors. Only right hand versions are available from equipment and supplies at this time.
Yes the prohibition in Illinois against concealed carry has been ruled unconstitutional
So start carrying right now. There's nothing the police can legally do to you. There is no law to be in compliance with yet.

yep.
it sure is sad that an honest citizen can't beat the shit out of a shithead without getting charged with, at minimum, battery.
A former marine was on his way home from work at about 0430 the other morning in West Allis WI. when he came upon a male adult beating a female adult? The former marine stops his car and gets out of it. Oh yeah, he is a licensed carry conceal person and is armed. He calls 911and lets them know what's going on. He is also able to convince the male to cease his antics and if he comes at the marine he would be shot. Blue army arrives. Bad guy goes to jail . Injured female goes to hospital. Funny only the ABC station covered it.

tell this to the hairgels.
not that they'd listen.
When seconds count, the police are only minutes away.
Now you can choose to obey a stupid law and sacrifice your life or you can choose to defend yourself knowing you will never be prosecuted for a sucessful defense of your own life.
The choice is yours.

The judges give out I-bonds because the system is racist. It is rigged so that persons of color cannot afford the bond and thus remain in jail. Toni Precnkwinkie says so.
The only bond most of them can afford is nothing so they get out on their scrawl. Then they are threatened with a firm slap on the other wrist if they offend again and this time we really mean it buster don't you dare mess around because you are out of wrists to slap.

The only way scissors would work is if a few dozens of pairs were loaded down the muzzle of a civil war era cannon and fired point blank as cannister shot.
Otherwise you can do a unfolding cutout figure of cops and present that to the criminal and tell him/her to back off or else a bunch of cops will catch up to him/her in a few weeks and haul his/her ass in for another I-bond.
Real cops do not charge citizens for exercizing their Second Amendment rights
