McBacktrack

  • Violent crime is down in "hotspots" where at least 200 cops working overtime conduct nightly patrols, and 200 more officers could soon hit the streets to target other problem areas of the city, Police Supt. Garry McCarthy said Monday.

“It’s a small percentage of the population and a super-heated group of individuals who are constantly engaging in gunfire on the streets,” McCarthy said Monday.

Last month, the superintendent launched a “strategic saturation” program that sends the 200 overtime cops to 10 violent crime hotspots across the city each night.
So the number of cops on the street has a direct effect on crime? That isn't what he was saying for months and months and months, was it?  We fully expect him to take more credit for Tommy Skilling's snowstorm later today as keeping down crime, too.

Here's another interesting observation from McReinventingTheWheel:
  • McCarthy said a three-year crime analysis revealed that these zones, which represent just 1.6 percent of Chicago’s landmass, account for 10 percent of its violent crime.
First of all, it's amazing that this took three years, seeing as how he's only been here under two years.

Second, only 1.6% of Chicago's landmass is responsible for 10% of the crime? Wouldn't it make more sense to pave over that 1.6%? It'd be cheaper than what he and Rahm are spending now.

And this:
  • He said in the first nine weeks of 2013, officers seized 1,220 firearms, or about 20 guns a day.
So all of these illegal guns are taken from criminals within a pretty small geographical area, yes? So the guns in 97% or more of Chicago aren't a problem? In fact, gun ownership in the vast majority (the super-majority one could say) of Chicago isn't an issue, isn't a problem and isn't out committing robbery, murder or any mayhem at all?

Hmmmm.

How do you calculate crime by landmass!

If bad guy number one fires a weapon and takes up 2 feet of space is it different in another part of the city!

Now if i changed land mass for race???

But that would be cruel what a smuck.

Wow! It took him awhile to saturate these areas. I guess after 500 murders is a good time to implement this type of strategy. I guess the media doesn't want to ask him why he didn't think of this about 2000 shootings ago.

Funny how Gmack called the 200 plus cops working everyday for OT on their days off the "Violence Reduction Initiative (VRI)", but commented a week ago that "hiring more cops won't stop the violence." Then why are you calling more cops on the street working OT "Violence Reduction?" Strange.

Man charged in beating on CTA train

By Jason Meisner

Tribune reporter

2:57 PM CST, March 4, 2013

A South Side man exhausted from beating and stomping another man on a CTA Red Line train over the weekend “took a break” while the victim lay unconscious on the floor, then resumed the attack once he’d caught his breath, prosecutors said today in bond court.

Anthony McMillan, 49, was charged with attempted murder and aggravated battery in the Friday night beating that prosecutors said occurred over the course of 15 minutes on a northbound Red Line train from 95th Street to 63rd Street.

McMillan attacked the 51-year-old victim, body slammed him to the floor and then stomped, choked and beat the man until he lost consciousness, Assistant State’s Attorney Stephanie Buck said. Video surveillance from the train captured McMillian continuing to kick the man in the head as he lay motionless, she said.

After several minutes, McMillan grew tired and “took a break” from the beating, Buck said.

“Once he had regained his strength, he returned to the victim and continued” the beating, she said.

McMillan left the train at 63rd Street. A short time later, an unidentified passenger saw the victim lying on the floor and pressed the emergency call button, Buck said. The victim was taken to a nearby hospital, where he remained in critical condition today with a collapsed lung, swelling to his brain and multiple facial fractures, she said.

Police arrested McMillan near the Red Line stop at Chicago Avenue and State Street on Saturday night after recognizing him from a CTA bulletin about the crime, according to court records. When officers approached McMillan, he said, “Whoa man, if this is about the fight on the train, he hit me first,” police alleged.

When McMillan was arrested, he was wearing the same clothing described in the alert: a fur hat, multi-colored scarf and blue jeans with suspenders, according to court records. Police noticed what appeared to be blood stains on his boots.

McMillan, of the 11500 block of South Bishop Street, has five past felony convictions, including one in 2011 for aggravated DUI for which he was sentenced to 2 years in prison, court records show.

Judge Israel Desierto set bond today at $350,000 for McMillan.

Now how is McMillan supposed to afford that bond? Toni is gwine' to be angry! That damn beating shit is hard work!

You nailed it again, SCC.

In more than 97% of Chicago, the law-abiding citizens are being equated with the criminals and are not allowed to carry a gun to defend themselves from the animals that ARE out there.

Lest some people forget, the shitheads do have cars and travel city-wide and elsewhere.

When I read that in the ST that exact thought crossed my mind, "Then why the heck didn't McCarthy implement this when he got to Chicago?"

I'm interested in what NYC cops say about McCarthy's developing this strategy.

Not a cop. It sounds like a strategy that's been around a long time, like hundreds of years: Policing emphasis where the most trouble occurs.

With troublemakers being so mobile now (LINK$, etc.), traveling across a large land area, I guess McCarthy's next model will be mobile police units that specialize in policing hotspots throughout the city. He could call it MSF.

The guy is a loon. G-d we're doomed with these idiots at the helm and such an impotent media.

Ah! Welcome to "Clarity of Vision In Spite of the Chicago Political Bullshit Splattered All Over the Windshield."

Welcome on joining the ranks of "they're dangerous because they can SEE!"

Hmmm... Lisa Schrader... Flaming Tutu's "new" chief of staff?

Lisa Schrader...

Hired in 2000 to work for the Stuttering Thieving Prick, Richard M. Daley.

Let's chart the trajectory of her career, shall we?

Spokeswoman - Budget Office.

Deputy Budget Director.
Deputy Chief Financial Officer.
Deputy Chief of Staff reporting to then Chief of Staff, Paul Volpe.

Heh... that same Paul Volpe whose fingerprints are all over this eye-wateringly bad meter deal?

NAWWWWWW! Not the same deal Rahm is trying desperately to renege on?

(A contract is a contract to certain so called powerful people only when it suits them?)

Then she went >Flash!-Poof!< for a few years...

Now the criminal political-media cabal are ballyhooing her as the "new" Chief of Staff, huh?

The criminal political-media cabal fling glitter & confetti, twist up some balloon animals and wave something shiny as distraction.

*Toss & Sparkle! Squeaky-Squeaky-Sqook! Fake-y Shake Shake!*

"Don't look here! Look THERE!"

Somebody dropped a gem of wisdom on bullshit like this.

"They screw these same people in and out of these political positions like light bulbs."

Heh... Fella, you ain't never lied on that one!

The more INTERESTING examples?

Ron Huberman? You KNOW that as a made member of the North Shore big-money shot callers, he's just waiting to be plugged into a position because of his "invaluable experience."

>Pffft!< ...The fuck outta here with that crazy talk.

Charles Williams... (Hiya "Cholly!")

Tom "Thumb" Byrne...

Mike Picardi...

Michael "Cut The Crap! Did he or didn't he get a phone call from Jackie Heard?" Scott...

And a handful of others...
Just killin' time until the right time, eh? >Wink!<

Lisa Schrader was described in the scum-times article as "a loyal soldier moving up the ranks."

Mmm-Hmm... She kept her mouth shut and held her nose through the whole damned thing.

Is this her reward?

Heh... Another card soon to be plucked out of the party rolodex and discarded?

The INNER PARTY feeling a little "burn-through" of their many layers of insulation?

To the INNER PARTY, loyalty is a one way street...

Daley Inc. seems to be very much alive.

Rahm just reached down and shook the skeletal hand sticking out of the ground on this deal...

Chicago Politics is evil incarnate.

OT --

So Rahm won't be around for a second term?

Just seen on the street --

City "Meals On Wheels" truck unnecessarily and expensively re-done from its former simple lettering scheme.

The thing was run through one of those fancy digital photo-spray robots, and has elaborate city-generated artwork on all sides. "RAHM EMANUEL, MAYOR."

That s__t starting up now. Costs millions to replace it all when they leave. Want to see a bad one, Cicero. "Larry Dominick" all over every visible object.

...and "CALL FOR IN-HOME ASSESSMENT!" Got to get in that door. Got to grow this job, one "social worker" brings 15 more behind them. It's a plague now.

I know someone who got FIVE "Home Health Aides" in the place at once! As bad as the chimney-pushers, one keeps you busy "We need to check your water pipes!" and you can't quite see what the others are doing in the master bedroom...oh, excuse me for being suspicious of fat, semiliterate, gum-snapping, min-wage, tattooed street trash who no one invited. Five? -- the keyword here is "GENERATE BILLING."

"Assessment!" Here comes the army of Clipboard Ladies, laughing and chatting on their very leisurely way up the front walk, here to hand out crooked Xerox copies of the "Food Pyramid" and "List Of Help Resources Located In Really Dangerous Neighborhoods" and "How To Wipe Your A__."

What a trip. This country has been through a lot, but I don't think it can sustain much more "sessment" and "sistance."

"RAHM EMANUEL, MAYOR."

I don't like the look of this.

(Oh -- the meals thing is good, very important to a lot of elderly, as are other things if you can manage to get them. This is the kind of thing a decent society SHOULD help with, not free everything for aliens, etc. It's the political s__t and the ever-growing make-work positions that are the HUGE problem.)

OT: Once again an FOP newsletter arrived in my mailbox and not only is there not an up to date list of recent retires, there are NO retirees listed at all. None. Zero. Nada. Not one.

FOP's hard.working newsletter committee is now 6 months behind in listing retirees. 6 months! Great job. They must be too busy choosing a pizza joint for the next general meeting.

They will be out to retiree luncheons and doing mailings when they all run for re-election next year, you can count on that.

It is time to put together a slate of candidates and get organized for those who want to run. This crew needs to be sent packing except for maybe Bill Dougherty.

Mike Shields has not started one general meeting on time, not one. Not a huge thing but just one of a lot of reasons he needs to go.

Not one member of the Chicago media has the balls to call these clowns out on their bullshit. They just take everything these politicians and their pawns say at face value and don't bother to dig any deeper. This is in fact proof that the statements made by McNewstrategy were in fact lies, if we had enough officers we would not need to hire 400 officers back a night at time and a half.

OFF TOPIC: The liberal shit has hit the proverbial fan here in Hyde Park. We had a march last week to protest the U of C Hosp.'s unwillingness to be a trauma center for people over 21 yoa. In the midst of two active groups of student protesters, it was the apparent idea of Milt Owens, our very own UCPD Executive Asst. to the Chief (Marlon Lynch, also known as Sir Stupid by the rank & file) to place a female detective of the UCPD among the protesters to better keep track of the mood of the crowd, what their intentions were, and/or if any violence would pop up during the protest. Our newly appointed detective apparently did a very poor job of concealing herself in the crowd of protesters. Anyone following the events in the student newspaper Chicago Maroon would see numerous detailed pics of her texting Owens (there are even pics of her cell phone texts displayed). Now our libtard students are incensed by this, and there is a collective call for heads to roll. True to form, our no-balls chief has responded immediately, claiming now that the idea of placing an undercover into the crowd of protesters was 'never approved by my office.' Two officers in the UCPD are now under administrative leave (i.e, they'll likely be shitcanned within two weeks; that seems to be the standard amount of time before you're fired here once you've achieved 'A.L' status by our Deputy Chief of Professional Standards, who has never possessed a set of balls that anyone here can ever recall). Since the departure of John Doty last year, we were all speculating how long Owens would last without Mr. BiPolar managing his every thought & movement. Apparently, not much longer than a year. So long Owens, we only wish that Lynch and Heath were leaving with you. U of C President Zimmer is the biggest joke of all: He leaves his wife to carry on an affair with another professor, leaving his wife in his provided for on campus housing to move in with his lady love downtown, only to quickly divorce his wife and shove her out of town so he can move back in to his University provided mansion with the home wrecker. But Zimmer is quoted in the press as saying he's outraged. It's all just so funny, our own version of Bill Clinton, at a million dollars a year!

OT,,, Hey SCC, I just wanted to thank the off-duty copper in his red SUV who represented himself as a SGT, at Hale school around 1500 hrs, and told the delivery woman who was making a vital emergency medical shipment to my house, to move her car. Yes we all have places to go... and my neighbor was helpful in assisting her because I unfortunately needed to pick up my child from school early, so I was not home. My wife is confined to her bed so she could not answer the door. It would have been a disaster if we did not get that delivery, and the poor woman just wanted to skip my delivery because of your thoughtlessness. Your life is not the only important life out there. I am a police officer too, and I'm sure people know who I am, but I am not a jerk. Who cares what rank you are, nothing makes you more important than anyone else. I do know what LINK and Food Stamps are.

I also know how they are abused for generating cash.

It's pretty common knowledge for anybody that can find there ass with both hands. The LINK or Food Stamp card holder buys food that they then turn around and sell to another person.

In some cases, the food retailer provides cash-back taking a generous cut.

Right, like that is the only source of retirees. Maybe some police type person with half a brain can figure out some way to get those names. Funny how retirees get bombarded with mailings almost as soon as they retire but our own fucking union uses some dunce like you to call people names and make ignorant lame excuses. How the hell does any crime get solved? Do they wait for a list of offenders to be provided by the FBI perhaps?

There are civilians in that office that I could call who could give me a list. But our newsletter committe can't figure out how to get the names. Those are cops on that committee, alll with years of experience. And you use Tracey Ladner as an excuse.

I make every meeting, mostly. I missed January, made February, will be at the March meeting. Lots of people will be at some meetings this year. Election next year so they have to go to 5 meetings. Maybe that includes you.
