Plus a number of those shot in the past week were listed in "grave"
condition.
The Tiny Dancer and McGunControl surge seems to be losing steam.
How much money has been spent in overtime, etc... ?
No idea how much overtime has been expended, but we know it got that much harder to track the other day. We got this e-mail from an interested party:
- Not sure why, but all of a sudden CPD and CFD overtime payments have
been removed from the City's DataPortal. As of March-April, this had
YTD overtime for ALL City Departments and ALL personnel but it seems
that City Hall has now limited it to those few Depts that they feel like
releasing. So much for open and transparent.

We'll admit we didn't use the site before, so we aren't sure what was there, but our e-mailer obviously has used it and noticed right away that a significant method of tracking spending has been concealed. Anyone want to guess why?

This is the City of Chicago's equivalent of hidden fees and the "Past Performance Is Not A Guarantee Of Future Results" fine print you're accustomed to reading in the investment world.
Only Mayor Murder and his 50 Investment Specialists aren't subject to repercussions for piss-poor R.O.I. The Sheeple have seen to that.

But 48 Hours reported that homicides are down over 50%, so it must be true. If the liars in office say something, it just must be true.

Why not just bust EVERYBODY out and then we all can head back to the trees and start over?

Well recently in the couple weeks here and there. There was the midterm grade of Tiny's performance of mayor. That mentioned a million a week o/t for vri.
And there was a smattering of homicides that put Mc535 on the hotseat so now after the 48 hours episode really hit a nerve.
who cares abot the website... just FOIA the info every week until they put it back online... ask for a fee waiver too...

Somebody should send this over to John Kass. He seems to be the only guy in print media willing to take on the the mayor consistently. Carol Marin took a swipe at the mayor in last Sunday's Chicago S-T's column, but she is only published once a week.
SCC, your blog is excellent, but its reach is limited. Mainstream media - particularly TV - needs to pick up your mantle. But that, I'm afraid, is not going to happen. Big corporations own the TV stations and it makes business sense for them to play ball with Rahmfather. Sad.

This is 100% accurate. as a young cop before the economy crashed i was looked down upon by people my age who were making tons of money. Now they are exactly the same people who are envious, jealous and angry.
That is why we take this job. Decent pay and benefits. We aren't gonna get rich, but we have job security in tough times.
Why? Because former boy commander Goldstein was told to take it off the site.

We didn't know that overtime payments were logged at the data.chicago site. We use it all the time and we'll take a look to see if there's a correlation between money spent and +/- homicides and shootings.

Some follow-up:
The City's data portal is NOT showing CPD overtime, unless it's under a name that makes no sense. In fact the list of department's end at the letter "O". Any department that has a name the starts with P through Z is not listed.
CFD overtime is present and for the first 3 months of the year, it has totaled $8,932,170. All 2012 totaled $32,835,621. Highest amount paid was $65,639.62.
I've gone ahead and emailed the data sets owner asking where the missing data is.

Whats also interesting is that the FOP gave the law firm handling the case $50,000 after the law firm sent letters to retirees requesting donations to pay for the legal work
Am curious if the CFD union made a donation to the law firm or if any of the other 3 city unions have put money in If the FOP, CFD union and 3 others each give $50,000 that a quarter of a million dollars to fight Rahms proposal. or as usual letting the CPD and FOP take the lead and pay the expenses, while they sit back and ride in on our backs.
The healthcare is for ALL city retirees Lets see what our "brothers" union is going to do
