Nice Background Check Ladner
Good thing she's weeding out the cops kids, the military veterans, and psych-disqualifying every applicant who doesn't meet her personal criteria. Wasn't Hilliard's firm supposed to be do these instead of Department investigators? Or didn't that ever happen?
- great job in screening applicants. A P.P.O. in 006.. yes, I said a P.P.O. has just been stripped and more than likely will be facing charges after he was found stealing over 2000 dollars at a domestic. After pressure and a beef was put in the kid folded and went to the watch commander to give the money back... too late kid. Since he is a P.P.O the city is moving for immediate termination so he wont be stripped for long. IPRA has the case and is giving it to the states attorney for charges. Oh by the way, Ladner if your reading this kid didnt have any family members on the job in the past and is not in the military. So much for your idea of not giving coppers kids a chance because they might end up bad cops...
Sometimes bad eggs slip through - we've all seen that. But those usually surface after a few years of working the street and figuring out how much smarter they think they are than the people they arrest, never realizing that someone else, at some time, tried the same bullshit. This must have set some sort of land-speed record though.

It's a money beef IAD will handle, he'LL be fired.
Once an FTO in 013 was teaching his PPO how to run a name check. The FTO used the PPOs info. The kid popped on 2 felony warrants and was promptly arrested. Whos investigated that PPO?
$2000 vs career + pension + raises + overtime + below average medicare + furlo + locking up animals. Not much of a comparison.
so who has 2grand in cash laying around in the 006th district.???? gotta love the hood.
Go read the CPD 2010 thread on forums.officer.com. Pure entertainment from the CPD new hires. Already drinking the koolaid.
Don't get me wrong, Ladner is indeed a tool...but what about the psychological exam? The polygraph? This rookie's instructors in the Academy? Can't just drop this bad apple in Ladner's bucket. Lots of other parts of the pie could have, or maybe should have spotted this bad apple in the crate. She's no more accountable for this goof than anyone else, and probably even less so.
I'm thankful he's been picked off early in the game, before he could have done us some real damage. Money's been recovered (apparently), and it won't take long at all to send this asshole packing, plus he will stand little if any chance of being able to sue and get re-hired, as is so often the case.
GFY and don't let the door hit you on the ass on the way out you P.O.S.
There are no more "background" investigators with the CPD. It's not Hillards firm doing the backgrounds it is some former Detective and his patner that formed a firm (I can't remember the name)
And no, not a speed record for a recruit to get in trouble and be fired. There have been others that have slipped thru the cracks and been caught while still in academy. It happens more than one thinks.
CPD is a joke time to leave this city
Why would Ipra be handling this and not Iad??
Or a set up for a future secret unit assignment after he is "terminated".
Was I not supposed to do that? Because if anyone had told me ...
SCC. You didn't hear, they brought all the detectives back to the the HR department to do the investigations. While the city still has a contract with an outside firm, they don't send them any work. So once again all the bodies sent out to the districts and areas are all back. And the contracted firm is getting paid and doing absolutely nothing. And it is not Hillard's firm. That is a total rumor.
Come on this is getting old. What does a background check have to do with a clepto? If you were born an idiot you'll stay an idiot, just a functioning one and we've got a lot of those. Next subject....
After pressure and a beef was put in the kid folded and went to the watch commander to give the money back...
-----
Watch Commander?
Did he call him on the call box first and ask if he should bring it to O.W. Wilson's office at 11th and State.
I know 3 veterans that have been told they "failed" tests. No explanation, no numbers were given to them. They are all great guys with good backgrounds. I advised them to do a "class action".
IAD making arrest????
Please.
They will ship this case off to the AREA and act like they have more important things to do.
You know like hunt down medical abuser or guys that drink the night before work.
Hopefully he met some diversity check box while he was here
Another one bites the dust WTF.
This kid could had been somebody on
This CPD job !
He can always run for Alderman. He would fit right in.
Smells fishy
$2,000 just laying around. Must be a Link and SSI recipient. Meanwhile, I'm the police, go to court, work special and work a side gig or two and I only have about $50 bucks lying around; If I'm lucky.
it is not all that hard to get past a typical background check.
it is not unheard of for people with TS/SCI clearances to turn out to have skeletons in their closet that never showed up on background checks and they are far more strenuous than typical pre-employment checks for CPD.
I used to do pre-employment background checks (not for CPD). I can tell you from experience that a number of guys who got hired after I cleared them turned out to have some skeletons I missed.
One would think that these days it would be harder to hide that kind of thing but you have to really dig and someone who is good at hiding their past can often sneak past.
Do you remember that cop from the south side that was arrest celebrating his 3 year anniversary!
He was charged with C.S.A!!!!
He got on this Job with 3 Arrests!!!
One was a domestic.
We have a Ex CHA police officer that turns snitch. Testifies against his partner in federal court. Changes his name and applies for CPD and gets Hired!
Never said he work for CHA on his employment application.
Gets hired and goes directly to 35th & Michigan!
Now makes Meritorious Sgt.!!!
The 006th district needs to look out. I am sure he'll be a Lt. in a couple of years!!! Tell all the troops about it STAN...

Come one, really, this is totally hard to believe. With all the stuff they do to see if they can get hired there is no way they didn't run his name.
One thing that is a fact, they check our DLs so wouldn't this reveal a warrant/this is not a question just sarcasm.
I call bs on this stupid statement.
Two grand laying around on a domestic?

Fun story but that old wives tale has been told using every district.
He was just getting his life together too.
He'll follow the likes of Pat Hill and Janice Govern, turn the tables and file a lawsuit alleging racism.
A nice pay day for an outstanding career. Just another CB # from the southside.
It's not Hilliards Company doing checks. It's a company called Ken-tech.

You have totally missed the point. Who the fuck cares why there's money laying around the fact is this fuck up shouldnt have taken it so stop trying to justify it! If this story is true I hope this asshat enjoys a lengthly prison term for the bad press we are going to have to deal with!
We have only the best and the brightest on this job.

I remember that. I believe the FTO was named Velez and it was a child support warrant that didn't show up during the background. The PPO got to sit in a police car for a few minutes at any rate. That was a good FTO, always name checked his recruits under the guise of showing them the computer.
Same thing happened to my bro. educated crime free white male perfect physical condition around 1976 same shit P/O's son and brother.Fuck this city and it's politicians.

They sound like a bunch of prepubescent morons. They need to know they are being laughed at and maybe they'll realize how dumb they sound. Do you even have a clue that you're not even in FTO yet? There is a lot of "WEs" being used for somebody that sits in a classroom all day.
More bad news to follow...involving veteran detectives....stay tuned sports fans
regarding fto in 013, that story has been said for as long as computers have been in the car. Heard same story 22 years ago.

What a fucking joke. If this kid stole the money then he is a piece of garbage and was going to do other things too. Integrity, you either have it or you don't.
Regarding the FTO in 013 I heard that story 26 years ago in 014. Not sure if it one of those great urban legend stories, but it is plausible...

The first time this happened it was Mike Bennon (RIP) who was the FTO. He was showing the kid how to use the computer in the station. Ran the kid's name and a parking ticket warrant popped up. The only mistake was instead of locking his ass up right there they called the academy. Low and behold, the academy was able to work out a "plan" and the kid stayed on. Only wish I could remember the kid's name. The second time it happened with another FTO they locked the kid up and faxed the prints down on the old roller machine. Then the academy was called. Bye Bye to that one.
Why would Ipra be handling this and not Iad??
5/14/2013 06:40:00 AM
the people at the domestic called IPRA after they realized the money was missing. a number was generated and then im sure it was kicked over to IAD. But ipra initially got the call not a sgt or complaint made at the station etc..
OT: ppos on foot patrol got into a shooting last night in 003. Good thing Mccarthy put the hush on it so his operation BS wouldn't get a bad name so the public and news could finally see how horrible an idea it is.
There's a ton of coppers that have been hired within the last 3 or 4 years that are veterans and have family on the job. All of the conspiracy theorists need to switch to decaf. Cue the "juice" comment and/or "hair gel" comment. What a joke. SCC has great articles and really does their research when putting up their posts. However, these comment sections are becoming laughable.
To 8:54 a.m. if you go to court and work sidejobs you make over a 100k a yr you need to learn how to manage your money better. I don't care how many tutitions or x spouses you have

I prefer the story about the 013 PPO that was with his FTO who got shot. Made up some wild tale about dragging him to safety thinking the FTO was done for. PPO actually left him and ran. FTO survived and the story came out. I believe the PPO is still on the job. Anyone remember this guy?
Deny, deny, deny!
It looks like a certain dumb dumb with a ghost payroll position in Area 1 is finally getting his. Bye bye JA.

NO B. S. The late BG from 013 was the FTO.
To 6:32 p.m. No conspiracy but a lot of facts. They had to hire some (clouted kids who were washed out of the process at some point only to be miraculously called back and hired after Ladner was scolded). Wake up, Ladner tried to wash out as many as possible.
The firm who did background investigations, KENTECH told the investigators, mostly retired CPD that HR told them the list was exhausted and there was no one left on the list.
KENTECH was getting nearly $1,500.00 an applicant from the city and paid the inv' $200.00 per.
Check the city contracts on the cities web site.
Muti-million contract this firm got. Check the references used by the owner of the company !!! You will be amazed. Only in Chicago, the city that works !
So is this true or what? All the FTO's on 3rd watch have no knowledge of this icident. You'd think that this would at least produce a name, which no one seems to be able to produce. And if a PPO was accused of stealing; wouldn't the FTO be questioned as well?
No one seems to know a thing in 006
Wow, did everyone miss the point of this article. Ladner needs to go. Bottom line. And nobody at city hall or the police brass are listening. Who cares about the idiot from 13 in 1989.

I've never stolen money or anything on this job. Not perfect but not a thief. If that makes me perfect to you thanks, otherwise I call it being a human being and it is what separates "us" from "them"

Sometimes you have to accept things for what they are. The people who are at the academy are incredibly dumb. The instructors who are assigned to IDQC can neither read nor comprehend easy general orders and legal statutes. (Even after someone explains things to them, they are still clueless.) And these guys are in charge of implementing policies and training. The people at the academy could not run a car wash. You cannot cure stupidity.
Ladner got caught trying to wash out military and CPD family out of the hiring process. Now the cover up is in swing.
Ken-Tech is not, I repeat IS NOT doing the background checks anymore, they could not keep up with the demand and could not get all the important info needed due to them not having clearane, so they brought back the Detectives that used to do the background checks, a great idea, never hould have been farmed out, Ladner has FU KED UP anything she puts her hands on, but due to the fact that she is a female and of color, and a Daley person who he had to dump out of Corp Counsel beause she isDUMB, we got this gem of a person, however, she is about to embarrass the dept. when Dan Herbert files this lawsut next week concerning the Bullshit failing of the Pschy test and lie box to coppers kids and veterens.
OT: ppos on foot patrol got into a shooting last night in 003. Good thing Mccarthy put the hush on it so his operation BS wouldn't get a bad name so the public and news could finally see how horrible an idea it is.
What are you talking about? There is no hush on it. He was talking about it and saying what a good job they did and how the program is wonderful. Quit writing all this bullshit and read page 12 in the Sun Times today where they are saying murders are down in zones with rookies on foot patrol. The lead paragraph says the PPO's fired at the teen and he was arrested.
Where do you get this shit about hushing it up
Yep hes hushing it up. So much so that he has Frank Main a city hall reporter writing about it.
Top secret, you have to read a paper to find out and uncover this incident
http://www.suntimes.com/news/crime/20112105-418/police-murders-down-in-zones-with-rookie-officers-on-foot-patrol.html
so who has 2grand in cash laying around in the 006th district.???? gotta love the hood.
Everyone residing in 006 isn't a drug dealer. And $2K isn't a whole lotta money. Maybe it was a copper who just cashed a few VDI checks? There's been a few bragging about how much they've made working it so far this year.
