Wounded Cop Honored

  • A Chicago police officer shot during an exchange of gunfire with a man in the South Chicago neighborhood last year was among a group of officers honored at the White House today.

Del Pearson, a South Chicago District tactical officer when he was wounded last year, is among almost 50 officers from around the country being honored this weekend by the National Association of Police Organizations as part of its TOP COPS Awards program. Officers are nominated for the award by fellow police officers.
Congratulations Del.

Congrats

But, I wouldn't enter the White House under any circumstances given the current occupants

Why allow those scumbags to bask in your reflected honor?

Nope, thanks but no thanks

Great for Del; too bad he had to participate in the dog and pony show with the village idiot who you just know was holding his nose around the officers.

That sounds very un American. The White House is a symbol of this Country and the occupants are just place holders. There have been occupants that I did not vote for nor liked at all. But an invitation to observe the history of this Country is a invite as a American I could not pass on. So if your stance is I would not go to the White House because of the occupants then U didn't have a issue with the First Lady saying she is "Now Proud to be an American". GOD, Family, Country no two ways about that.

Congrats Del. Sorry for getting off topic.

Pretty much spot on. My one caveat is that I didn't have a problem with the First Lady saying that. I'm patriotic now and increasingly so as I get older but I remember what it is to be skeptical of the country and talk about the establishment and the system and all that other youthful gibberish. I changed after I enlisted and learned about caring about strangers wearing the same uniform. It was a bad choice of words for her position but I know what she meant so I wasn't offended.

Nope, I agree with the original poster. He's not my president. He doesn't represent me. Just like a few years ago, when that black college professor cried racism when the responding police agency came to check a burglar alarm, and obummer had his "beer summit". Fuck you. No way that I'd have gone if that was me. That officer did nothing wrong. Just another photo op.

The same hypocrites spouting off about not going to the White House will be the first ones in line to shake the mayor's hand and the superintendent's hand at an awards ceremony;because those two are so reviled. Grow up!

Had the good fortune to work with his Dad, Patrol Specialist Del Pearson Sr. Got my 1st gun pinch with him in 004 on my 6th day working the street out of the Academy in 83. Remember it like it was just yesterday. Your dad would be proud of you Del.
