What the Hell? (UPDATED)
If true, this is just nuts:
- Couple nights ago in 4, coppers pull over a hot bike. Cuff dude behind his back and start running his name. Van pulls up dude runs off and hops in the lap of the driver with one copper chasing. Copper tries to yank him out and gets stuck in the doorway. Van takes off, copper can't get his arm out so he jumps in so he doesn't get dragged. Van speeds up and copper starts to take out his pistol when both dudes start trying to push him out the door. He puts his pistol away grabs the steering wheel and crashes the van on purpose at about 45 mph. Drags both asswipes out and ends the whole thing. Crazy ass shit boys and girls. Keep on eye on your prisoners cause even cuffed these animals will try to get away. Can't make this shit up. It's a jungle out there.
Careful guys and gals.
UPDATE: True story:
UPDATE: True story:
- Two men now charged with attempted murder of a police officer sped down South Burley Avenue, a Chicago cop gripping the side of their van, prosecutors said.
- Wilbur Driver, 40, apparently saw his chance to escape, yelled "open the door" and broke away from the officer, prosecutors said, before he jumped into the driver's seat alongside Romell Burgess, 21.
When they hit the gas, the officer had to jump onto the running board of the van to "avoid being dragged," prosecutors said. With the van going about 40 mph, the officer hung on for one block while the two men inside tried to push him off the vehicle, prosecutors said.
When the van crashed into a fence, Driver and Burgess tried to flee but were caught, prosecutors said.

wtf? This is straight out of a movie or something.
Put this guy in that new "Chicago" series - not Mayor 9.5. Or at least give the guy a medal or something.
Wow.
Not sure how he just up and runs away, I was not there, so I cannot comment outside of I do not understand how this could/did happen.
Glad the cop is ok.
Get that guy in Hollywood!
Don't post what you don't know about first hand. There is more to the story than what the involved officer wrote in the case report.
That was an episode from The Shield.
Young coppers make mistakes. Too bad they have to be painful ones sometimes.
Smart better than bouncing on concrete at 45mph. Last thing they expected
Now dats the real police!!!
Don't jump into moving vehicles. Let the asshole get away. We all have families we have to go home to at the end of the your. why get yourself killed for a pinch.
He couldn't get out of the van the animals had his arm pinned in at first. And the guy has about ten years on. Not that young of a copper.
Throw momma from the train. OOOOWEN!
The Public needs to hear these stories, because T.V. is scripted to "entertain". In reality the game is to survive, not entertain.
That's some Bruce Willis shit. Glad the officer is okay.
I have worked on the south side, west side and north side and when i think about what goes on down south as compared to up north one analogy comes to mind, educators.
Coppers on the south side are like day care workers perpetually telling the same kid to quit eating his boogers, changing pants on the kid who is too busy playing to dump in the toilet and trying to explain grown up stuff to a kid who stares at you like you have snakes coming out of your eye sockets.
Coppers on the north side are like college professors teaching a group of snotty know-it-alls who, if given the platform, can tell everyone how to do their jobs better. They know everything there is to know about life and complain of their rough upbringings of having to work 2 summers at ambercrombie and how the tv in their bedroom was only a 19in.
Where do all the grown ups live in this city?
As usual the press made this woman who attempted to help the prisoner escape out to be a pillar of the community. They said nothing about what really occurred out there on the street. The fact is she stopped the van, opened her door and told the cuffed prisoner to jump in.
She refused to stop even after the officer entered the van, in fact she sped up and tried to push the officer out of the speeding van.
None of this was addressed bu the media!!!
Are coppers still permitted or taught to shoot
out the tires of vehicles attempting to flee arrest ?
Jest askin'.
I gotta better idea "boys and girls", you are NOT boys and girls. You are adults.
So, don't do this shit.
Great job,be careful, chalk this one for experience!
From every civilian in Chicago.....thanks for going above and beyond. You make the rest of the CPD proud and we're sure there are thousands others who would do the same thing if asked. Thank you all.
Civilian Post
And the first thing this fkd up department will do is spar the officer for a preventable accident; there will be no award as some merit boss will use the phrase "that is your job officer". And to think in just a few years they'll be announcing how there's no pension left! But keep up the great work! The city loves us, right??
Nice job Office. F&@k all these arm chair qbs who've never worked. 004 is crazy. Stay safe
Holy shit, nice job Chuck! Assuming this copper's name is Chuck Norris.
Hey, 1:52 a.m. Go fuck yourself. I have absolutely no knowledge of said case....but I do know you are an asshole. I pray you never end up sitting to my left for 8.5 hours.
Heal fully and at your own pace, brother.

This is not television.
This is not a video game.
They do not teach us to 'shoot out the tires'.
They do not teach, or allow, us to fire 'warning shots'.
When a bullet leaves a gun, it is called 'deadly force'. At that moment, you shoot for real.

I couldn't agree more. I mean, sounds like the cop really cares about his/her job, but geez, I can't imagine that! That's the type of cop I want coming to my aide if I should ever need one. Please be careful out there. Look out for yourselves cuz your family needs you to come home in one piece. As a Chicagoan though, I appreciate all you do on a daily basis. (Not a cop, but family of cops.)
TJ Hooker cool badass shit someone buy that guy a beer
From a maybe a couple at most to now looking at 70 years for attempted murder. Just dumb.
Shooting out the tires is a "movie" thing. Just like shooting off the lock.
Coppers on the north side are like college professors teaching a group of snotty know-it-alls who, if given the platform, can tell everyone how to do their jobs better. Yes! As long as they fire a warning shot in the air first! Lol

Were you there? If so, by all means enlighten the rest of us.
Starsky & Hutch dammit!
8:38 awesome post dude! loll
All I know is that if Tom Dart was there That officer would be fired. I guess going above and beyond to stop a fleeing felon is a thing of the past. I hope the officer is ok. By the way T.J Hooker would not allow that to happen. He would of used his PR-24 to the best of his ability to desable the van. Be safe out there fellas there is family waiting for you at home.

From ghetto to Gold Coast - a sense of entitlement.
Officer had to get his cuffs back,, embarrassing to lose like that, Just kidding, glad all is well and he went home safe.
