- Sneed has learned a street gang directive ordering a hit squad to kill law enforcement officers was intercepted by the Cook County Sheriff’s Intelligence unit.
The deadly order, which came via the Cook County Jail grapevine, claims the leadership of the Satan Disciples street gang has called for the formation of an assassination unit entitled the “Guerilla Mafia Cartel” which would be assigned the deadly mission.
Sneed is told the Sheriff’s Intelligence Center gleaned word of the directive and dispatched a “request for information” last week alerting the Chicago Police Department and the FBI.

My question is why do you have to read about this in the Sun-Times. Why didn't the department take steps to protect its own officers, or at least inform them?

I'm a citizen; the latitude I give anyone on the CPD is this, either on duty or off:
Someone points a gun at you or threatens your life, start shooting and when the threat stops moving, keep shooting for good measure (just like the Officers in the OH AK-47 attack video).
It's the same latitude I give myself under the same threat.
Self-preservation dictates one assumes these squads are comming to this sanctuary city (if the don't already exist).

This is absolutely true, was read at roll call today. Renegade group of SD's from 19th & Oakley,even named the officers from 012 they plan on hitting.
Watch your backs at all times and take a different route home every day. These dirt bags are even following officers home from work to target their homes and families.
Lets see, the department should have a zero tolerance on all SD's. Tickets, jaywalkers, parkers, blunt, gambling, spitting, riding a bike on the sidewalk - everything and everybody goes to jail. Officers should tell their arrestee why so much love! Let the word get back to the higher ups in the SD's. Bosses, desk crews and lockups should be supportive of the officers on the street doing whats necessary.

Sneed has never told the truth. I remember her breathless exclusive years ago about the Brunswick Building fire. She claimed there was a secret hero who tried to pit out the fire before it spread but his "heroic" efforts failed. But if you put his claim together with the stories that the storeroom where the fire started was the floors unofficial smoking room, which means this clown went back to smoke & the fire was caused by his own lit cigarette from an hour or so earlier.
Of course there wasn't any followup to this lying story.
What is the law regarding police and concealed carry? As a "regular" citizen I realize I'm not allowed to carry but can an off-duty cop, not in uniform, carry anywhere in the state?

Yes, Dart probably would not, but the corrections officers who work in the County Jail are pretty good and know their business. I have worked with them in the past and the amount of intelligence they get is astounding. Dont see these folks short.They are on our side and deserve respect. I would not take a job in the county jail for twice the money they pay.
A few years ago I had my kids at Great America for the day. I ran into about 10 of the gang banging drug dealing aholes from 43rd street. They said hello and went on their way. But, I can tell you I was worried. I was not packing and I had my kids with me. You can never tell who you will run into and where it might occur.
This was in an OSA issued by the dept on Thursday. Watch your backs and each other and always carry off duty.

In my opinion, CPD in these neighborhoods should carry military style automatic weapons or automatic shotguns in their cars for their safety. But this will never happen because the "pastors and community activitists" will bend Rahm's nose and someday another good police officer will be sacrificed on the altar of political correctiness and all the gutless politicans and Father Pfleger types will wring their hands and say "stop the killing, stop the violence." My advise is to ignore these assholes and carry a second or a third weapon with a large capacity magazine for additional protection in your car. You may have to throw it away when done but it may save your life.

I was 17 and I remember it well, two months after my old neighbor, was assassinated in Englewood. I lived at Garfield and Carpenter We lost an Officer at 56th & Morgan, in 68. One was shot across the boulevard + one murdered at 51st + Halsted, in 1974. These were bad times, late 60's and 70's. There were not as many guns on the street then either. Fort was staying at 57th + Carpenter then. Englewood was not the place to live, but that's what made me be the police. God Bless those Officers. They, amongst others will not be forgotten by me. God Bless you all, but please be careful. Take all threats seriously. If they're not true, sometimes they just give the scum bad ideas.
