Another Tow Conviction
- A federal jury today convicted a veteran Chicago police officer of extorting payoffs from a tow truck driver in return for steering business to him at accident scenes.
The jury deliberated a little more than two hours before finding Deavalin Page, an officer since 1995, guilty of two counts of attempted extortion.
Page becomes the eighth Chicago police officer to be convicted in connection with the undercover FBI Operation Tow Scam probe. Four others, including three tow truck drivers, also have been convicted. Two additional police officers await trial.
And still two more to go? That's just great.

Great the FBI and US attorneys office can pinch CPD for tow truck scams but , Madigan , Burke and Daley get away with everything . Great job about as good as a one bag dope pinch.
How ironic. Page was in my class. Our graduation date: 23 October 1995. The same date of his sentencing. He was our class commander and former CHA. I always thought he was a good guy. Guess not.
Worked with Page in 004 years ago, he was always a decent guy. This surprised me when it first popped up, it's his time to pay the piper now. It's not worth it guys to do some shady shit for some pocket change...

I know that what they did is wrong and they should be punished but in Chicago it seems the FBI is taking the easy meat.
i just wish the city would utilize their tow trucks to haul away the crashes or have an on call rotation of qualified contractors for grab em up like the burbs do. not the bangers that do the pound hauling. as for the damn chasers, it is illegal to silicate for a tow. these scumbag chasers need to all be locked up. countless times they are high and break every traffic law in the book to get to the scene. start locking em up like the Troopers do. you get caught soliciting on the highway they lock you up and impound your tow truck. i can bet 9 out of 10 you run are all tagged bangers or have a long sheet. bottom line, start locking em up if the silicate.

ITs all a matter of statistics. We are all human. A certain percent of all occupations have a criminal element. Doctors, police, lawyers, priests, accountants, etc., all are held to a greater standard but all have about the same percent of corruption. Its not a reflection of the profession, just a reflection of society.

The state police have tow companies assigned to different sections of the interstates. If that company does not have a tow truck available, a tow truck from an approved vendor is called. The tow companies have preset prices if they want to do business with the ISP. Unapproved tow trucks are not allowed to stop to solicit a tow. A person who wants to call their own tow or who has a motor club tow service is allowed to have that tow truck come onto the interstate to tow them. Chicago won't do this...too many mobsters and politicians in the tow business. Doesn't Jerimiah Joyce have some ownership in ER Towing?

EXTORTING PAYOFFS? You mean when 4 tow trucks show up to an accident and the guy who offers you 25 bucks and you take it, thats extortion? So when you go out to eat and give the greeter 10 bucks to cut in line so you can get seated faster, is that extortion?

This Officer is a Human Being who made a terrible descision. Nothing you can say will make him feel any worse than he already does. He had a great life and it wasn't the 3,200. that gave him that life it was hard work. So I will pray that he serves is time and come out ok just like the people who kill etc... He deserves that. Officer Page we are not all against you just your actions that got you here.
Gimmes for the famed FBI. Easier than say-- working afternoons, midnights and weekends actually trying to catch a terrorist or two. This much easier.

Hey idiot--none of these guys took money one time, despite what they're charged with. They took money over and over again and steered business to certain tow companies. Sorry, he's the worst kind of criminal--a crooked cop.
