State Hires Data Entry Operators
Someone has to help the ISP catch up - might as well hire it out:
- Anyone who has recently applied for a firearm owner's card in Illinois knows that it there is quite a wait.
State police say that's because 70,000 applications have piled up in their outsource processing center - and that's because there are only four state workers doing background checks.
The I-Team has learned that an emergency contract is now in place with a new vendor to process that backlog and to prepare for the onslaught of concealed/carry applications.
So even the bureaucrats know that some form of Concealed Carry is coming.

Hopefully it's not Joe Biden...
A six figure contract too!
Surprised the job hasn't been outsourced to India or a third world country where data entry costs are pennies on the dollar.
Outsourced to INDIANA, no less.
...and the bad news is that the contractor is the Illinois Fusion Center.
(Joking. I hope.)
Sound like they need to hire off duty P.o'S who are cleared to run LEADS!
AT time and a half
BUT a clouted private company can do the job just as well.
Great that they are getting help to ensure that these applications are processed, but you mean to tell me they HAD TO go to Indiana to find this help and there was no qualifying company in Illinois?
DUH ! ! !
Why don't they hire the 2 IRS workers that are SOLEY responsible for screwing over the Tea Party types? I understand that they'll be out of a job soon, and seem able to do the work of dozens of paper pushers.
Hope they did thorough background checks.....
What happens to ISP when they cannot meet the State law that says they have to approve/reject your application within 30 days of receiving it???
Where is the accountability???
Still a crock, ISP via Springfield Nanny in Chief, are purposely log jamming FOID issuance
(1) they want to get their bogus CC plan in place. (2) If they can't force their plan in place by the deadline, a constitutional CC becomes reality, NO FOIDS, no carry!.....The ISP for months has yelled, scream to anyone who would listen to how overwhelm they have been and how they were attempting to address this nearly impossible issue....yet not once have they even stated how many FOIDS that they have processed...something you'll never hear from them. You can go to any Walmarts, Costco or Sam's Club and if the lines get to long, another cashier will open up to handle the overflow...ISP has been playing this game since Nov 2012, now after 8 months and a looming deadline, they are just realizing this....just another crock of shit, blowing smoke in all four directions
You can smell them dollars cooking.
Are these employees certified to run leads and ncic? including a fingerprint based background check? Funny how it takes 6 months to get prints back on cj applicants everywhere else....
It's no bullshit, we got 4 guys down there. It's always been slow and archaic. Retired troops on contract could have sped all this up months ago. It's funny how they are quick to revoke a FOID though. Hiram Grau is Quinn's puppet (meat puppet).
