Police Shooting in Englewood

The citizens can shoot, maim and kill each other with impunity, but the minute the police light up and offender armed with two guns, the usual suspects are up in arms:
  • A 15-year-old boy was fatally shot by a Chicago police officer in the South Side's Englewood neighborhood Sunday night, authorities said.
A boy? Really Chicago Tribune? How about a boy with two guns?
  • The shooting happened about 10:50 p.m. in the 6600 block of South Sangamon Street.

Pat Camden, a union spokesman for the Fraternal Order of Police, said officers assigned to a gang crimes unit heard gunfire in the area and spotted three people running as the officers responded.

Police pursued one of the runners, leaving their car and chasing him on foot down Sangamon Avenue, according to a preliminary statement from the Chicago Police Department's Office of News Affairs. During the foot chase, the runner turned towards the officers and pointed a gun at them, drawing fire from an officer, according to the statement.
Assailant:
  • Family members rushed to the hospital after the shooting, said Niyah Lewis, who said she was Westley's cousin.

Lewis, 32, said the shooting happened shortly after the boy had been throwing a football in front of a Father's Day gathering at his grandmother's home.

Relatives were frustrated at the amount of information police were sharing with them, Lewis said.

"We know absolutely nothing," Lewis said.
Aw....tossing the football on Father's Day. How very Kennedy-esque. And no one knows anything - how about where the jagoff got two guns? And figured it's okay to point them at Police Officers?
  • Westley was a high school freshman, said Irea Martin, 32, who said she was his aunt.

"We're not talking about a 17-year-old," Martin said. "We're talking about a kid."

While Lewis and Martin said witnesses had told relatives they had not seen Westley holding a gun, Camden said the boy had been carrying two weapons -- a .40-caliber handgun and a revolver tucked into his waistband.
We're going to imagine that no one is going to snitch out where jagoff got the guns or who he was carrying for.

Nice job by the involved Officers.

The usual slanted and misleading headline pertaining to The Police.

Nothing but an artifice and a device to keep misdirected anti-Police outrage bubbling in certain segments of the city.

"Y'all always doing (ABC-XYX) to us/in our neighborhoods! We don't want y'all here anyway."

It's too much like journalistic integrity to state that the little mutt was armed and fleeing from The Police before he rolled his dice and got shit on with terminal effect.

Dead mutt making love to the pavement...

One gun at hand...

One gun recovered from the dead mutt's waist band...

These slanted, screaming headlines are a fucking menace to the safety of Policemen who are tasked with a shit-doo-doo job dealing with these hellish-assed, death, Devil and destruction loving shit-doo-doo upright walking creatures who like to point and discharge firearms at The Police.

It's a rotten, unsalvageable, non-assimilationist culture that is a stink in the nostrils of all decent and civilized men.

THIS... Is what the city has been given over to because of craven, wretched and hollow-assed career politicians are deathly afraid of the decent common sense man gaining his footing and taking his city back.

It's numbers... These misfits and their litter mates outnumber everybody else. Who in hell do you think Daley Inc. and Rahm & Co. were going to cater to?

Definitely not the poor slobs who swing their feet over the side of the bed every damned day for 20 to 40+ years trying to keep their heads over water to give their kids a foundation so they can stand a little taller and do a little better than the previous generation.

Rahm has said himself that he has no use for people who can think for themselves.

If you think for yourself, that means you might have strongly held beliefs and "traditions" that the North Shore Shit-Ass doesn't understand.

It fuels his animus... You're not "useful" to him or his agenda.

Every clacking wind-up set of dentures joyfully points out what The Police are doing "wrong" but the owners of said clacking wind-up dentures runs away from showing us the "correct" way to Police neighborhoods inhabited by creatures who worship death and destruction.

This city is destroyed beyond salvage for the regular guy.

Q: how do those fat, old rats, seen lumbering through the alleys, in the wee hours, get to be fat and old?

A: they sacrifice their young.

Q: what is the essential element defining the nature of the rat 'family'?

This is a bad situation, no doubt, but I have to pick a nit with your phrasing:

"The citizens can shoot, maim and kill each other with impunity...."

First, cops are citizens too. I hope so, anyway; if you're not, things are worse in Old Windy than I thought.

Second, the only "citizens" who can shoot with impunity are the thugs and wastrels. Citizens who are, by and large, law abiding can't even get the guns they'd need to do any shooting.

I'll also add that in a reasonable system, any shooting, whether by cop, homeowner, gangbanger, should properly be investigated in pretty much the same way. Unless there's clear evidence of criminal intent, the presumption should be self-defense.

Working towards that would go a long way towards restoring the public's faith in and respect for the police.

"The police are the public, and the public are the police," it says here, and that works both ways.

OT- I might stir up a hornets nest with my comment, but had an idea someone surely thought of, but I haven't seen it pop up here. With regards to residency, what if they did something provisionally where in our contract we were allowed after a certain amount of years on the job to reside outside of the city? I understand that if they just blanket lifted it that property value would go down, however if they said after say 6 or 7 years on the job you could reside outside of the city, you would always have an influx of new officers that need city addresses and you'd have a less disgruntled older work force. The rotation of new cops buying senior cops homes would be perfect. No homes would lose value this way and adter you've been on awhile, you could move your family outside of the city. This is just a thought. It would be nice I see some momentum going with the residency talks after all the things they want us to give up. It would be a no brainier.

Only problem I see is that the new officers that need homes would need thjose homes whether or not senior officers were allowed to live outside the city. Plus about my guess would be 90 plus % of the new officers already reside in the city. Dont see alot of out of towners and suburbanites applying for the CPD

"Work or STARVE!"

Captain John Smythe

Plymouth Colony

Massachusetts

-1620-

Refusing to be constructive was considered treason and a hanging offense.

The Captain was righteously unmerciful toward slackers and non-contributors.

No doubt he gives thanks even in his grave that he lived and died in his time and place instead of 21st century Chicago, Illinois.

The yellow-pinky moon-bats, their catered to constituency and the media butt-sluts would have the good Captain publicly hung by the neck in his weight in chains for uttering such "heresy" in today's politically correct, knee-walking, accomodationist, wine sipping cheese nibbling surrender-monkey climate.

"You guys are just mad because it isn't 1960 anymore... Get over it... We're enlightened now and don't need you old gray-haired, angry dinosaurs anymore."

Only in Chicago is a man judged as being wrong for being so "uncharitable" for not wanting a non-contributory m/fer to reap a dividend from the sweat of HIS brow while m/fers like Rahm & Co. actively destroy OUR standard of living in order to make us "equal" to the mutts spreading shit, violence and death throughout this city.

Chicago Politics 101...

Bust everything and everyone down to the least common denominator.

No matter how many people get their lives and finances destroyed in the process.

Chicago is being "re-booted."

It's called not letting a crisis go to waste...

Hail Rahm...

The last shit-ass to say "Let them eat cake" was guillotined for her stinkin' thinkin'.

Rahm has his $18 million so fuck you for not being like him...

Not sayin...
Just sayin!

How the fuck would property values go down if you sold your house and moved? You won't abandon your house and move, you would SELL IT and move and the next owner would pay taxes just like you do. Do you really think the property value rests on how many police live in an area?

Grow the fuck up and use your head. You're not that important in the big picture.

Don't belittle someone when you don't know what you're talking about.
If several thousand Chicago police officers dumped their homes on the market at bargain basement prices just so they could get out of Dodge, real estate prices would fall dramatically. Additionally, a certain percentage would abandon 'underwater' properties and let the banks deal with it.
Lower real estate values would be recorded. Taxes on lower property values would be lower, as a result. New construction would grind to a halt, because of the glut of existing properties suddenly appearing in the market.
You're right: one person isn't all that important. But thousands of people making that move all in two or three calendar quarters would certainly make an impact and the ripple effect on real estate reporting, financial reporting, lower county tax stamp payments, lower income buyers getting a foothold in established neighborhoods... well, that's a significant impact. Add in the teachers, CFD, streeta and san, because any residency deal WE get will ultimately go to them, as well. It would be a tsunami.
Old man Daley knew exactly what he was doing when he required us to live in the city. He got a guaranteed tax base and a measure of stability in a number of neighborhoods. A mass exodus would cause a lot of financial upheaval now, at a time when the city is struggling to maintain its income levels. The City will strenuously fight a move like this right now, guaranteed.
I'm not saying I agree with the rule, just saying this is why your argument (both of you) doesn't fly.

You take your head out of you ass right now. Some of the best neighborhoods in this city are occupied by mostly city workers! Granted not all cops, but firefighters, teachers, streets and san, and I want you to name some of the neighborhood s. If you cant, you didn't grow up up here you suburban pos. City workers care about their neighborhoods and their homes they have to live in and don't take any shit from trash that moves in. CPD is expected to give them professional courtesy in exchange for the people in the neighborhood keeping their eyes and ears open.
of course nobody will abandon their house! the property value will be much higher when they sell. Gfy :-)

Have a nice day!

How in the hell do any of these gangbangers keep anything in their waistbands when their pants are around their thighs? At least their dress code keeps them from running as fast as they could if they wore their pants normally--maybe that's why he had a gun in his hand, because he was worried about it falling outta his pants.

Racist police!

Mama just mad because now one of her checks will stop coming!

It is interesting since Richie started resettling "Section 8" people in the suburbs to scatter the problem children that crime has gone up substantially in some of the suburbs despite better parks and schools and after school programs. You can take the crackheads and gangbangers out of the ghetto, but you cannot take the ghetto of the crackheads and gangbangers.

Liberal Evanston constantly strives to underreport the raging criminality taking place in the city while doling out more taxpayer funded subsidies and programs to the gangbangers who vote for the Democrats. Last week, the cover was blown when a Evanston aldercreature witnessed recreational gunfire while traveling in the vicinity of the crime plagued Evanston Township High School. Until seeing it firsthand, this political enabler was in official denial about crime in the North suburb.

Hey, what's the difference if you're retired and sell to a younger cop than if you were able to live outside the city after 7 years and you sold to a younger cop! People retire and move out of the city all the time. At least you wouldn't be running to the suburbs and taking a loss on your house or taking whatever you can get just to get out. With 2.7 million people in Chicago, city workers are a teardrop in the ocean anyway. Don't belittle the rest of tax paying Chicago by saying city workers are the tax base.

Ask anyone that lived on the west side before the 60s that question. You'll have your answer.

Im not, but look at the neighborhood s where a majority of city workers live. That is the point. We all pay taxes brother, one of the two things you have to do on life. It always cracks me up when non city workers tell other non city workers (with some smugness) "yeah, my neighbor is a cop/fire fighter (or other city worker depending which rich city employees the media and rahm bash) and I heard the real story from them and ..."

Not tax base, but have seen enough of this city to know where we don't want to live. Follow us and you'll be in a respectable neighborhood.
