Shooting in Portage Park
- At least seven people were injured in shootings across the city Thursday night and early Friday. A Chicago Police officer also shot a teen who ran from officers during a street stop in the Northwest Side Portage Park neighborhood.
- About 12:30 a.m. Friday, officers were patrolling in the 4400 block of North Mulligan Avenue when they saw three young men in an alley, police News Affairs said in a statement. The officers went to talk to the young men and asked for identification, Fraternal Order of Police spokesman Pat Camden said. One of the young men said he didn’t have an ID and took off running.
The officers chased him and the teen tried to jump a fence, police said. The officer followed the suspect into a gangway and was confronted by the suspect swinging a board from the fence, police said. The officer ordered him to drop the board, and the suspect advanced aggressively toward the officer, police said. The officer opened fire, striking the suspect.
The suspect, thought to be 16, was struck twice and taken in good condition to Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center, Camden said. No officers were injured and the four-foot board was recovered at the scene.

Congratulations to the officer for a job well done. I'm sure the bosses in 016 will treat him well unlike the spineless weirdoes we have here in 020. Do all the other districts have a problem filling tac and gang teams like 020 does? Do they have to do reverse seniority to keep these elite teams staffed with baseball cap wearing warriors? Because that is what they have to do in this pussified district that lets a slimy female officer on one of the teams dictate policy and pretty much call the shots. Seems to me that if everyone leaves a team because of the bad personality that this one officer flaunts, then logic would dictate dumping her back to the watch.
Except because she is a female that has no problem getting beefs and complaints on other co-workers, for bullshit nonsense, the bosses are too scared to do anything. Though God forbid if you're a white male officer that doesn't bring in enough contact cards. Then they will come at you full force like Jack Webb interrogating a pedophile. What can you expect when you have a person like Henny Penny in charge of things? The commander is sort of a nice guy but even he is afraid to dump her from the team. Maybe McCarthy should ask him at the next compstat meeting why moral is so low and reverse seniority is being used to fill tactical teams?
I say the bosses are dumb but maybe I'm the real stupid one. After all, I went on one of these teams and did my best to produce. No more. It's time to retire my 'Tap Out!' t-shirt and give my retro Roger Ramjet cartoon baseball cap to my pet Datsun to chew on.
Oh, and a little advice for any bosses reading this from 020
The next time you decide to draft one of these goofs to a team, no matter how slightly above average attractive she may seem, check out the gear that she wears. A pink camouflage backpack, when worn during a tour of duty, is kind of like nature's way of saying, "Don't have anything to do with me. I'm a crazy, vindictive bitch that has no problem ruining morale and fucking over other officers." Thank you.
Sigh, feel bad for the CPD officers that were forced into taking justifiable action. Stupid punk, he's lucky to still be alive after doing something so breathtakingly stupid.

To the officers who were threatened by this reported ( learner later) Lacross player, who was also a league champion. Thank goodness you have survive and did what you did. In one swing you could have been left severely injured. I know because I have trained Lacross players for many years. The strength, power and speed used to manipulate the lacross stick is squall to that of a baseball bat or jail alai scoop. Perhaps the reason that the comman staff supports her is because she is doing what is expected of her. Also, what make you any better then her just because you have a few more years on the job? Last time I checked po's were still po's regardless of yos. I am not normaly the grammar police nor do I criticize others for what they hhave written, but HOLY SHIT! Put down the appletini for a while before you start typing. And as far as the backpack goes it may seem little to you, but for most of us it is a sign that the officer is more worried about her fashion sense than her job.

If you don't know the officer, shut the hell up. (but you do know the officer, your not fooling anyone).
If you are a member of a tact TEAM, you are expected to work with the other members of the TEAM. Getting CR numbers on members of your TEAM does not help accomplish that.
When numerous members of a TEAM leave the TEAM, and they cite one particular officer as the reason that they left, just maybe it's time for the supervisors to actually supervise.

(Remember, officers who leave 20 do talk about their experiences and why they chose to leave.) The fact that you feel the necessity for such a case of support means that 1) either you have never met her or 2) you are she. FYI - CPD is a brotherhood, albeit a dangerous one. We back each other up, we don't stab each other in the back. (I hear your reputation for this goes as far back as the academy!) We have to trust each other with our lives out of necessity. From what I hear, many have determined that they could no longer trust this officer so they chose to leave. Being a good CPD officer takes more than a big mouth and a gun. This officer has created a "hostile work environment". The fact that this officer thinks that people leave 20 tac because they prefer to do nothing rather than be a hard working CPD officer like her just proves my point. Get the message. Being a "tattle tale" is the act of a five year old, not an adult. Grow up. PS, buy a dictionary.
