Sun Times Rehashing Old News

  • Two off-duty Chicago beat cops.

Both busted nine years ago for assaults outside the city.

Both targeted for firing by the police superintendent.

Two similar cases — with two very different outcomes.

The dates on the cases cited (we think there are nine) go all the way back to 2002. In each case, officers were investigated, accused of wrongdoing, was served with allegations and had their day before the Police Board. That there were a myriad of results surprises no one here at SCC and shouldn't surprise anyone who's been a cop for longer than six months or a Chicagoan for more than a year.

The city reeks of corruption, favoritism and clout. It isn't hard to figure out and anyone with half-a-brain could put together a halfway decent list of political connections and favors owed for certain cases.

But the Sun Times doesn't do that. They drag up old cases and don't really delve much behind the curtain of corruption that permeates Chicago. We certainly hope that they're going to run the same "investigation" at the Water Department, Streets and San, the Fire Department and other city agencies.

Oh wait, we're the only ones in contract negotiations. We just realized that this is another smear job masquerading as journalism while Rahm pulls the strings.

If I had the money, like Michael Bloomgerg money, I'd create a group of reporters, photographer, researchers and downright spies to go to NYC and find out the background of McDufass.

Go interview everybody and find out what this guy is all about and how we can get rid of him. I would like to know about the Adrian Schoolcraft incident and is McCan'tstandhim involved with it. What other lawsuits was he involved in. If Tio Hardeman is fair game, well there were stories here too.

Money can do that sort of thing. Remember when Obama ran for the Senate. His Republican opponent had a messy divorce and the records were sealed but for the Messiah they popped open like a ripe zit. But we still haven't heard about Barry's school records, surrendered law license, never actually wrote for the Harvard review and where in the world was he in his earlier years.

I'll keep buying lottery tickets, there is still hope.

Novak and Fusco again huh?

OK... we predict that in the next 48 hours Frannie Spielman is going to stumble out of HER hidey-hole with her clothes on backwards, inside out and ready to run with a slanted and misleading anti-Police hit piece too.

These three have their heads so far up mayor Twinkle-Toes ass for nourishment and sustenance, if he were to fart, their ears would pop...

Three human beings not worth the ink on their paper.

More "smart people" who are too fucking stupid to see the role clout plays in these Police Board rulings.

Too fucking stupid to see the obvious hidden hand moving to protect certain people and throw certain others to the wolves.

Hey... Just a thought...

Since the worthless Chicago newsies have unfettered access (via intentional leakage from the stupidintendent's office and the mayors office) to Police Officer's info, department ID pictures and the like? Why can't we have a BOLO book with THEIR names and pictures in it?

A quick reference laminated cheat sheet for those with a serious penchant for running these wretchedly biased, intentionally under-done to the point of skewing to an anti-Police agenda, hit pieces.

Remember newsies! No expectation of privacy on the public way... JUST LIKE EVERYBODY ELSE!

Of course they'll whine that they won't be able to do their jobs if they were "exposed" in this manner.

>Snicker!<

Well... It ain't like these fools are sworn L.E. or practice hard hitting investigative journalism that puts them in harm's way.

They would rummage a Policeman's children's underwear drawer for a story... With or without Rahm's prompting.

Funny... Bet you good money if you cornered one of them and asked, (Politely of course... Remember, Coppers obviously give them the yips so play nice:) they couldn't give you a straight answer as to what their "job" should actually entail.

Newspaper Journalism is a failed enterprise in Chicago.

Any Patrolman could write and "report" these goofs into the ground with one hand tied behind his back.

Many of those pukes at 18 are still five to ten years away from their GED let alone two years of college. Oh wait, they can make up college at Malcolm X or one of the other make believe colleges in the City College System.

Why not give preference to aspiring rap artists? Or those with newer IR numbers get put ahead.

Why would they want former US Marines or Army or Air Force veterans? Those people are used to working hard to advance and doing things honestly and fairly.

All it is is more lawsuits against the moron running personnel and Rahm.

"Answer the call lies" and what the webpage should say, is as follows:

A career with the CPD offers an attractive compensation package and superior benefits including:

Current starting salary of $43,104, increased to $61,530 after 12 months, and increased to $65,016 after 18 months
Annual Uniform Allowance (Since your going to spend about 7,000 to buy every last item you may or may not need in training and to graduate, including uniforms and a department ID, including BDU riot gear your not trained to wear)
Annual Duty Availability Pay (only after one-year no PPO's)
Comprehensive Medical Care Plan (not really and Obama care will probably be forced onto members)
Vision Care (suck!, not until one year and is insurance in name only)
Dental Care (only after one-year and it sucks too - the only next best thing is no insurance)
Prescription Drug Plan (does not pay like in the private sector and does not inlcude birth control, City excempted itself from Obama-care)
Paid Sick Leave (One-day each month, after probation if you call in sick your treated like a child)
Paid Vacation Days (in calender days only after your probation)
Paid Holidays (only after one-year)
Tuition Reimbursement (only after one year and the Director of Personnel will make it hard to get reimbursed or denied your reimbursement for arbitrary reasons)
Home Purchase Assistance Program (hard to get or qualify, program restrictions make it a benefit you are not suppose to use)
Pension Plan (talk of taking it away, massively underfunded.)
Deferred Compensation Plan (with your own cash, hardly a "benefit")

This will make most of you puke !! They will give CPS high School grads preference just like men and women that served in the Armed Forces. So all of us that sent the kids to Private schools are not a group of candidates they are looking for.

Doubt that. If you spent your tuition money wisely and made your kid work in high school, he should have NO trouble smoking the test and blowing the CPS graduate out of the water.

Except that "CPS graduate" might just be a code name of "affirmative action hire."

Congradulations. Glad it worked out for you. Keep and eye on the 457 plan as stocks may go bearish with Obama in for the next 3 years
Great school for a kid with a 29, he will learn alot competing with kids with a 16. You made a good choice of schools, and no room and board saves money, what a surprise

To all those pissed about preference given to CPS grads. It was your choice to waste money on a high school education. You should have had your kids test into good public school. Article in the Times yesterday where a P.O. said he was happy his kid got in Whitney Young so that he didn't have to pay 15 grand for St. Ignatius, same education for free.

Yeah... Novak and Fusco are doing Rahm's bidding to "dirty up" the impending contract negotiations by rehashing old news.

Funny thing... If these "investigative reporters" (PEE-YUKE!) deemed this so newsworthy and the public benefits so greatly in their "right to know," then how come non of this was made public in THIS manner as/when these incidents occurred or when a final finding rendered by the Police Board/final action taken by the then incumbent Superintendent(s)?

Why, at this time, did the Emanuel Administration order a "document dump" of adjudicated disciplinary cases to the scum-times?

A manufactured crisis of confidence in The Police at contract negotiation time in hope of creating a groundswell of anti-Police sentiment with the same low information electorate who were united in their cries against the gross mismanagement, punitive and revengeful revenue enhancement schemes and intentionally tone-deaf governing style of one Rahm Emanuel.

Rahm needs to quit his bullshit spinning of this.

He's picked the ADJUDICATED CASES of 30-some FORMER POLICE OFFICERS (get it RIGHT Fusco and Novak... You shameless money-shotted whores) to gin up some way delayed ex post facto outrage against Policemen as a whole for these FORMER POLICE OFFICERS who clearly weren't convicted IN A COURT OF LAW of any felony(s).

If this provokes such an inflamed, ingrown hair of outrage on Rahm's narrow, never suffering a day of discomfort, overly charmed, luck of the very Devil ass; then he should work toward getting that changed.

Rahm's wealthy political friends and friends in the banking industry facilitated a financial fraud that destroyed the economy of this nation.

>Crickets at the scum-times<

Rahm personally benefited to the tune of @ $18 million dollars.

>Crickets at the scum-times<

Rahm's political Godfather, Richard M. Daley torched this city to the tune of $12 to $15 BILLION DOLLARS.

>Crickets at the scum-times<

The manufactured crisis of 30-some FORMER POLICEMEN "getting away with" the princely sum of @ $1.2 MILLION DOLLARS between them ALL will set the teeth of the low information electorate on outraged edge.

Grand-Daddy used to say, "There goes that bullshit I told you kids about."

Fuck Fusco and Fuck Novak up their asses with a fully dressed holiday tree for their intentionally under-done, so called "investigative" report.

Better writing is likely found on the walls of a Forest Preserve shit-shack...

Maybe they should have tested for for Young, Jones or another selective enrollment school. There was an article in the paper the other day about a cop with a kid at Young. Think Anthony Abbate, who was a known drunk prior to being hired, with a few DUIs. But somebody looked out for him and he was hired in spite of his background. We all know how that turned out.

Proud dad proclaims. "I've got over $600 k saved for me -me-me", and my child scored a 29 on ACT (which I think is about 7 or so points above the national average). Does he spend some extra cash to send his child to a really good school? No, a Full ride to Northeastern is bragging rights enough. Some people will try and cut corners any way they can. Well, a 29 act may be decent, but a gpa of 2.5 won't get you far.

Catholic schools are what made this city great. Your whole community, catholic's and non-catholic's alike, revolved around your church and school. If you look at any decent neighborhood left in this city it still has a catholic school presence. Every "other" neighborhood has multiple churches of the same denomination on one block. As the neighborhoods went bad the schools and churches closed. I'm not a very religious person but if you look at that trend I think you would agree. I don't want to hear about all the socio-economic reasons why the hood is the hood. The fact of the matter is there is not a "viable" church with a real mission ,other than making money for the rev's, in any of those areas. If you push the city workers out of the city by denying their kid's , if they want one, a chance at a city job the city has no future. Those young people are the ones, if it's even still possible, that will maintain a middle class presence in these neighborhoods. The young people that the city is trying to give a leg up will only run into the ground what decent neighborhoods are left.

Yeah, you picked two crappy schools to send your kids. Though, Taft is Chicago's politics in action, check this out:

Currently, four separate families have multiple family members working at Taft, including a mother/daughter, a father/two sons, father/son, and a husband/wife.

The mother/daughter had been working in the counseling office where the mother (Phyliss Ehret, 2012 salary $83,300) was the Dept Head and her daughter (Nora Sapienka, $63,024) has been working under her leadership since 2009. Their 2013 salary total was $146,324.

However, the mother has now been moved to the attendance office at Taft because of nepostism allegations, continuing to earn her counseling salary, and now has the Taft attendance office salaries topping $222,00 for four employees (mother ~ $83K, two clerks @ $43K each and a former CPS teacher working on a teacher's salary as a resource/collaborative teacher for $53K) to work in Taft's Attendance Office..

The father and two sons are members of the Nishibayashi Family. Nick is the father and is a PE teacher and Athletic Director making $84,315. His two sons Brett ($72,436) and Chad ($49,724) are also PE teachers and coaches working under Nick's leadership as AD. Their salaries total $206,475.

The father/son team working at Taft come from the Harte family. The father is an Engineer IV assigned to Taft ($77,844) and his son Daniel is a Taft PE teacher/coach ($65,069). Their total salaries total = $142,913.

The last family tandem at Taft are both teachers. Scott Plencner ($64,252) and his wife Melissa Bezold-Plencner ($63,024). Their total salaries = $127,276

The Grand Total of all Four Families = $622,988

To: Commie hater, name one non-communist school you would send your kid to. Furthermore, the ACT score range for Northwestern starts at 28. That's nothing to sneeze at,but although a 29 is damn good you're still bringing up the rear at Northwestern. Both your kids did you proud. Congratulations.

WRONG SON.

Turn on PBS or pick up the Wall Street Journal.
THOUSANDS of people now in their
30's and early 40's still have enormous debt from their ivy school college loans.

Some have somewhat good jobs ($130,000? what the heck! I made more last year thanks to VRI!) but many have lost their jobs in the recession.

I had a family friend who had a Masters from the University of Chicago.
He had over $90,000 in debt and committed suicide 2 years ago because he could not find work that would pay well enough.

We had a sergeant in 019 who had a degree from Northwestern.
He is a total MORON and made sergeant meritorious because he had clout.
And CLOUT is THE bottom line in everything.

I suggest you read the following book before you or your children piss their money away;

Is College Worth It?: A Former United States Secretary of Education and a Liberal Arts Graduate Expose the Broken Promise of Higher Education
